ENTERING THE LAND.
Remember that the key thought of the book of Joshua is ..
THE VICTORY OF FAITH!
GOD had called Joshua as the next leader of Israel, as Moses had died.
Joshua’s name means “Jehovah our Saviour.”
The key point to remember is that his commission was based on the Word of God.

He was obedient to that call by faith. It was not a call based on human reasoning.
Once he knew that God had spoken (there is no higher authority than that!), then there is no better reason to obey.
True faith always operates on the principle demonstrated to us in
Hebrews 13:5-6.
“HE HAS SAID… SO WE MAY SAY.”
God always gives clear directions for us to understand and obey. That is why you must read His Word.
JERICHO SPIED.
With the Lord’s words of encouragement and sure victory, Joshua sent out two spies to Jericho (Which was the key city) to view its vulnerability.

JORDAN CROSSED.
The crossing of Jordan was a significant step of faith. Forty years earlier, the other generation that failed to cross the Jordan had died off.
To come out of Egypt was one thing,
But it was another step of faith to go over this Jordan. They had to be committed to face their enemies with iron chariots, massive armies, and (that included giants) and have nowhere to retreat. They could lose everything!
The same choices come to us as Christians. We must earnestly desire to do God’s will and to totally abandon ourselves to obedience to that will.
God must be absolutely first in your Spirit, Soul, and Body. You must be totally in Love with Him, abandoning everything else.
There is no other way of living the Christian life.
It is one thing to have Jesus as your Saviour from sin. It is another thing to make Him Lord of your will and life.
This must be our choice, our Jordan to cross!
MEMORIALS RAISED. Joshua chapter 4.
A faith that goes ‘all the way’ with God
is rewarded with many blessings.
These two piles of stones represent
the faithfulness of God in bringing,
His people at last arrived in the promised land.
The first pile in the river was a memorial of God’s Power in holding back the wall of water and making a dry path for them to cross.
The second pile of twelve stones also represents the twelve tribes of Israel, illustrating God’s faithfulness in delivering them to the shores of the Promised Land.
CIRCUMCISION REPEATED.
Now is the time to circumcise the Israelite males. This practice had been neglected for forty years. This was a mark of separateness.
It was the seal of God’s Covenant with Israel.
Moses had himself exhorted them to,
“CIRCUMCISE YOUR HEART,
AND BE NO MORE STIFFNECKED.”
Deut 10:7.
“THE LORD YOUR GOD WILL CURCUMCISE YOUR HEART .. TO LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD.”
Deut 30:6.
For us, we can learn from this that we also must put off the things of the ‘flesh.’
It is a sharp pruning of all selfish desires, maybe known to you alone, or you will be soon chastened by the Lord!
Ours is a ‘daily dying’ of selfish ways.
The pain is soon gone, and you will be thrilled with the new, fresh, close, and beautiful relationship with God!
ISRAEL TODAY.

Amen.
