4. DEUTERONOMY. BLESSINGS AND CURSES.

Israel was now ready to enter the Promised Land.

Joshua is now…

Appointed as the new leader due to his faithfulness and loyalty to God.
Moses spoke his final words to Israel, and there was,

not a face over fifty years of age,” as their predecessors had “perished in the wilderness!”

Moses reminded them not to forget all their lessons in the wilderness.

As for you, my people, remember to seek the Lord your God when you have grown old in the land.
If you search for Him with all your heart, you will be found by Him.”

Has there been any other God who has attempted to take a Nation to Himself from the midst of another Nation, by trials, signs, wonders, and by war, by a mighty hand, and an outstretched arm, by terrors… greater terrors! All according to that the Lord your God accomplished for you in Egypt.”

He made a Covenant with you at His Holy mountain.”

So Moses repeated all the major Commandments to Israel and reminded them to..

“LOVE THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND ALL OF YOUR MIGHT.”

He continued..
Now what does the Lord require of you? to walk in His ways, to serve Him with all your heart?”

Don’t be stubborn and rebellious any longer, for the Lord your God is the God of gods, the Great, Mighty, Terrible God, who executes justice, feeds the hungry and clothes the poor and naked.”

GOD’S GOAL FOR HIS PEOPLE.
This also applies to us today.

1. They will have the highest praise among the nations of this earth.

2 . They should have the highest name among the nations.

3. They should have the highest honour of all nations.

4. That they should be a Holy People to Jehovah.

5. And be the Greatest Nation on all of the earth.

6. That Israel should be Peculiar to Him.

God deeply desires and deserves obedience from those who are His own. We have been called out of the darkness of sin and are translated into His marvellous light, so ought not we also obey Him?

OBEDIENCE BRINGS BLESSINGS!

DISOBEDIENCE RESULTS IN CURSES!

How should we obey our Lord?
Here are some ways for us to live an obedient life.

1.’LISTEN’ TO HIS VOICE.

2 ‘OBSERVE’ AND ‘DO’ HIS COMMANDMENTS.

3. ‘WALK’ IN HIS WAYS.

4. ‘DO NOT TURN’ TO THE RIGHT HAND OR THE LEFT, FROM HIS WORD.

5. ‘DO NOT GO’ AFTER OTHER GODS OF THIS WORLD AND SERVE THEM.

OBEDIENCE DEFINED.

1. TO ‘OBEY’ WITH AN ACT OF YOUR WILL.

2. TO ‘SUBMIT’ TO GODLY AUTHORITY.

3. TO ‘COMPLY SUBMISSIVELY,’ WITH ‘JOY’ IN YOUR HEART.

Do this, and blessings will come richly upon you. All manner of blessings, practical, relational. Personal and financial affecting every part of your life.

And a deeper and more intimate relationship with God.

DISOBEDIENCE EXPLAINED.

WANTING TO DO THINGS AND LIVE YOUR LIFE WITHOUT GOD.

God will allow vexation to come upon you, to rebuke and discipline you.

1. YOU WILL KNOW THE FEELING OF FAILURE.

2. YOU WILL NEVER FEEL SATISFIED.

3. YOU WILL BE OPEN TO DISTRACTION.

4. AS MENTIONED BY GOD, YOU WILL NOT LIVE OUT YOUR DAYS.

5. YOU WILL NOT FULFILL HIS PURPOSES FOR YOU.

6. YOU WILL FEEL EMPTY, THOUGH YOU MAY OWN AN ABUNDANCE OF THINGS.

People tell me, “Something is missing in my life.” They are plagued by loneliness inside.

This is the reality of a person who is without “CHRIST.”

He is the One who “FILLS ALL IN ALL.”

This can easily change if you “draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”

You may come to Him through the provision of the Son of His Love. See John 3:16 and Deuteronomy 27:12.

God does not demand obedience; He wants you to obey Him out of a heart of love. It is much easier when you are devoted to Him.

BLESSINGS OR

CURSES will follow your choices.

Here’s a view for you to ponder upon them.

PLEASE CHOOSE NOW!

Choose well!

Amen.

3. THE BOOK OF DEUTERONOMY! Israel at the border of the Land…

THE BASIC REQUIREMENT OF GOD FOR ISRAEL.

See Deuteronomy chapter 10:12,13

“AND NOW ISRAEL, THIS IS WHAT THE LORD REQUIRES OF YOU, IS TO…

“FEAR THE LORD YOUR GOD, WALK IN ALL HIS WAYS.”

“LOVE HIM, SERVE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND ALL YOUR SOUL.

KEEP ALL OF HIS COMMANDMENTS, KEEP HIS STATUTES THAT I HAVE COMMANDED YOU THIS DAY, FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!”

Right from the time God met Abraham, he made a Covenant with him. God has been faithful to Israel.

He watched over them and delivered them from famine.

Kept them alive during their bondage in Egypt.

He brought them out with “great signs and wonders,”

He elected them as His own Nation at Sinai and gave them His Commandments to obey.

He fed them and gave them water to drink.

He protected and preserved them, so even “their shoes did not wear out!”

He was patient, forgiving, and compassionate, though they were disobedient, rebellious and would find fault with almost everything they could see.

Israel complained thirteen times on their way to Canaan!!

Here they are now at the border of the Promised Land.
And God again requires what He expects of them.

We see that God required them to love Him, and from that love would spring fellowship and a willing obedience.

“Obedience is the keynote of almost every chapter. It has been pointed out that the Word “do” occurs over fifty times in this book.

This is required of us today. Due to our privileges in Christ, we are more obligated to obey in a Spirit of love and godly fear.

Here is what the Lord Himself says,

“HE THAT LOVES ME, WILL KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.”

“HE THAT LOVES ME, WILL KEEP MY WORDS.”

John 14:21-23.

His Grace makes me want to obey !!

I obey my Precious Lord because I love and appreciate all He has done for me,

He loved me when I wandered in darkness,

He loved me with an incredible love.

He sought me and brought me with His Precious Blood.

He means more to me than anything this world can offer.

Do you really know Jesus as your Saviour, or are you just practising the

‘Rituals of Religion’?

Do you still feel empty inside, thinking, ” There must be something more.”

There is more!

Christianity is a relationship deepening as you walk and talk with Christ daily.

It’s obeying God in everything you do.

Then you read the “WORD OF GOD”, wherein He promises to guide you every step of the way.

Here is a prayer you can pray.

“Lord Jesus,”

“I feel empty on the inside. I’ve tried a thousand ways to fill this void in vain. Nothing in this world seems to satisfy this deep longing inside my heart.

Now I turn to You, and ask You to save me from the penalty of sin and failure. Forgive me for not relying on You for everything I need to live in this world.

Thank you for dying for me and shedding your precious blood.

I surrender all I am to you and ask that you live in my life right now.

Fill me with your Holy Spirit and grant me the power to fulfil my God given destiny. ”

NOW YOU ARE SAVED!

IF YOU FAIL HIM, HE WILL REMAIN FAITHFUL TO YOU.

BLESS YOU!!

AMEN.

2. THE BOOK OF DEUTERONOMY. Moses’ Death.

THE DEATH OF MOSES. THE MAN OF GOD!

“There arose not a PROPHET whom the Lord knew “Face to face”

He is one of the most significant figures in the Bible and in all History.
His life falls into three clearly marked periods of forty years each.

For the first forty years, he was a Prince in Egypt.

EXODUS 2:11.

For the second forty years, he was a Shepherd in Midian. ACTS 7:29.

For the final forty years, he was the Leader of Israel. EXODUS 7:7.

HE WAS AN OUTSTANDING TYPE OF CHRIST.

All great men of History possessed some prominent virtue or quality….

Abraham was a man of faith!

Joseph was a man of humility!

Jonathan was loyal and generous!

Elijah was a man with a zeal for God!

Moses really had no distinguishing characteristic above the others.

His virtues and Graces were all equal to each other.

These characteristics worked in harmony to form a Beautiful and Noble Person.

You may have concluded that you are not a MOSES, JOSEPH, OR AN ELIJAH. Do you think this?
“I have not done much to earn the Praises of men, or the Acceptance Of God.”

Remember, these people were called forth when the world needed them, and fully equipped to do all that God asked of them.

YOU .. ARE CALLED FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS!

Your world may seem small and limited, but from God’s perspective,

YOU ARE MOST SUITABLE FOR YOUR WORLD!

MOSES died at the age of 120 years.

He is the only man that God Himself had buried. God laid His Servant’s body in a valley of the land of Moab, but no man knew where!

They searched for it, but to no avail. However, the body did not remain there, for despite Satan’s contention (See Jude 9), it was raised and glorified, and Moses reappeared in it on the Mount of “Transfiguration.”

Luke 9:30,31.

For those of us who are alive today, be content with who you are. You are well-equipped by God to fulfil the destiny God has planned for you.

“BE STEADFAST UNMOVEABLE ALWAYS ABOUNDING THE WORK OF THE LORD..AS YOUR LABOUR IS NOT IN VAIN IN THE LORD!”

I CORINTHIANS 15:58

God sees you, is with you, and is willing to bless your exploits, as you do his will in this time of your life.
Let him change you, mould your character, and empower your gifting. To bring honour and glory to his Name.

God did not allow Moses to take the people of Israel into the promised land, as we know. He failed to honour God’s holiness at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh.

See Deut 32:48-52.

He was allowed to view the land of Canaan before he died and was buried by the Lord.

Our Lord is “just and righteous” in all his ways, though you don’t always understand them. Move on, my friend, in your God-given calling.

“THERE WAS NOT A MAN LIKE UNTO MOSES WHOM THE LORD KNEW FACE TO FACE,
IN ALL THE SIGNS AND WONDERS, WHICH THE LORD TOLD HIM TO DO IN THE LAND OF EGYPT TO PHARAOH AND TO ALL HIS SERVANTS AND TO ALL THE LAND.

AND IN ALL HIS TERROR THAT MOSES SHOWED IN THE SIGHT OF ALL ISRAEL.”
Deuteronomy 34:9.

Amen.

1. THE BOOK OF DEUTERONOMY! OUT!…THEN IN!

THE BASIC TRUTH.
This truth is found in Deuteronomy 6:23.

“HE BROUGHT US OUT (from Egypt) THAT HE MIGHT BRING US IN … TO GIVE US THE LAND THAT HE SWORE TO GIVE TO OUR FATHERS.”

The fact is, He brought them out with a purpose that he might bring them in, as He had promised to their fathers.

God accomplished this with His,

“Mighty Hand” revealed His Power.

“That He might bring them in.” Now, He was revealing His Grace. Because it was a land of “milk and honey.” Here we see the Faithfulness of God, who was faithful to His Covenant. (promise)

He never fails in His promises to you. Keep believing! Don’t give up!

OUT! … No more the cracking of the slave driver’s whip!

No more the cruel threat of the heartless taskmaster!

No more the blinding dust and sickening heat of the overworked brick kilns!

No more grovelling on their hands and knees to find the straw for the bricks demanded by nasty Pharaoh.

No more the rigorous servitude,
the iron heel, the bitter bondage, the downtrodden condition and the shame of Egypt! It was gone!!
Israel was “brought out” with not a

“hoof left behind!”

What a blessing it is when we apply this to ourselves.
When He saved you, He delivered you from the bondage of sin and its condemnation!

He also delivered you from the power of the Evil One!

“FOR THERE IS NO CONDEMNATION TO THEM WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS.” Romans 8:1.
See verse two,
“FOR THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE HAS MADE ME FREE FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH.”

We have been brought out of sin and
the darkness of death and from the paralysing fear of the future. You have complete Salvation from sin and death.

You were brought out, and He might bring you in. There is land in Canaan waiting ahead. A Heavenly Canaan is a place of… “spiritual wholeness and fullness that you can experience now.’

You must let go of the former life and live a Christ-like life.

Here are some scripture verses to help you live a Heavenly life … Please take time to meditate upon them.

1 Thessalonians 5:23. Galatians 2:20. Ephesians 1:42. 20:9. You will be encouraged, I promise.

This means we are no longer of Egypt,
(a picture of the world,) but are in Christ. These Scriptures are ideal for us, and there are many more to live a holy life as He intends.
Don’t live in the wilderness !!

Rid yourself of worldly practices, and then you will live in the blessings of Heavenly places in Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 1:3.

Finally, God has fulfilled the promises He made to their fathers. God never backs down on His promises, so let’s not doubt them.

“IF WE DO NOT BELIEVE, HE (still) ABIDES FAITHFUL: ( because) HE CANNOT DENY HIMSELF”
2 Tim 2:13.

God does the changing, and He makes you Holy in your Spirit, Soul, and Body, and He will preserve ( keep safe; keep alive; and maintain you). He begins to live His Life in you through the Holy Spirit.

This is a process, as we possess all He graciously gives us. All we do is surrender to Him and be obedient to His Will.

GO UP AND POSSESS YOUR LAND!

“FAITHFUL IS HE THAT CALLS YOU AND HE WILL ALSO DO IT.”

Amen.

5. THE BOOK OF NUMBERS.

ARRESTED PROGRESS.

Would you please continue to read the Book of Numbers, chapters 15-20?

This book could be called..

“The book of Arrested Progress”
These chapters cover an actual period
of thirty-eight years.

This delay period marks the transition from the old generation to the new. It begins after the KADASH REVOLT and ends in the year of Aaron’s death.

It took Israel only forty hours to get out of Egypt, but it took forty years to get Egypt out of Israel!!”

Within two years, the people were at Kardesh-Barnea, the gate of Canaan.

Thirty-eight years later, they were at the same place again! This was a consequence of their disobedience.

They knew what God had commanded. They said hastily,

“All you command we will do.”

They were full of zeal as they had witnessed the great deliverance and were ready to take that step of faith into the land of Promise,

until …. They Saw It!!

It was a very good land, but they saw the giants and the walled cities. They imagined their enemies and feared persecution, scoffing, and isolation. It was a path not yet trodden.
But too difficult to face!

So they decided. “We will not go up.”

Are you at a point in your life where you feel defeated? Have you lost your zeal and are dissatisfied and discontented?

There is an emptiness that the world cannot fulfil? What can you do?

Go back to the place where you disobeyed God!

Confess your sin and take up the life of obedience once more. You may not be able to pick up the pieces and start over again, but Jesus promises a new life, an abundant life.

Joy, power and the peace that progress brings will soon be yours again.

The word “wander, as prophesied by God, is translated literally into the Hebrew “Shall Pasture for forty years.

Coupled with judgment, the Lord would still shepherd them. Here we see the goodness and the severity of God.

That time in the wilderness was a complete holdup of God’s purposes for Israel and a historical gap. These people excommunicated themselves from the heritage of Israel.

This time, the Lord does not plague them to destruction but fulfils their words.

Would we have died in the wilderness?” Numbers 14:2.

They must die, maybe before their time!

Let us be very careful about what we say about ourselves. Do not speak words of death; instead, speak words of life. Best of all, speak…

The Word of Life.”

(The Bible)

Allow me to suggest some life words for you to speak over yourself.

“Through Jesus, I can do this!”

“By His stripes I was healed!”

“He will supply all my needs!”

“I shall live and not die and declare the Works of the Lord!”

“Because the Lord is my Shepherd,
how can I lack any good thing?”

“I love to read my Bible!”

Things will change as you speak life
words over yourself and others.”

Jesus said, “Bless those who curse you, and say all evil against you.”

Blessing others has so much power. Jesus and God back you up, and the Holy Spirit makes it happen.

Become an encourager today!

Amen.

4. THE BOOK OF NUMBERS.

THE TWELVE SPIES.

THE TRAGEDY OF MURMURING. We observed that the complaining steadily worsened as Israel progressed toward Canaan. The people had been failing bit by bit as they joined across the Wilderness.

How often do we consider grumbling a “little sin”? When we check ourselves, we find how completely it possesses us.

We find fault in almost everything we see.

The weather is bad, the coffee is too strong, the meal is half cold, and the vegetables are still too raw.

Then, there is that person who rubs us the wrong way.

Then there are bad drivers at whom you shout, swear and curse!
Blah..blah!

Then there is our poor health!

“Oh me .. oh my .. I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired.”

Sickness can be a way of manipulating other people to gain their attention and have your own way.

So we complain, mumble and grumble about everything that irritates us.

Let’s trace Israel’s downward course in the book of Numbers.

1. From discontent to lust.

2. Despising the Lord, speaking against His servants.

3. Provoking, tempting and doubting God.

4. Presumption, discouragement and striving with, and speaking against God.

5. And at last, gross immorality and idolatry.

The Lord reminds us in Phil 2:14,

“DO ALL THINGS WITHOUT MURMURING, (Complaining) OR ARGUING AMONGST YOURSELVES ”

You must know that complaining will prevent you from accomplishing anything and prevent you from speaking words of faith. Complaining cancels miracles, visions, and dreams and even ruins the reputations of great men of God. It also breaks friendships.

WHAT HAPPENED AT KADASH?

A MELTING MOMENT!

Spies are sent out for forty days to view the land. They all agree it is a good land, but ten say conquering it is impossible. The other two, Caleb and Joshua, tell them.

“DO NOT BE AFRAID, THE LORD IS WITH US
LET’S GO NOW AND POSSESS IT.”

Joshua and Caleb saw with the eyes of faith, but the ten saw with the eyes of the flesh! They said,

“There are giants in the land… and we are as grasshoppers compared to them!”

We know the outcome. Israel disbelieved, then rebelled, and wanted to stone Caleb and Joshua!

Numbers 14:10.

Then they suggested the appointment of a new leader, as even Moses was unsuitable.

The new leader would return them again to Egypt (Num 14:4).

(Remember, all they did when they were back in Egypt was complain!)

Then, in a Mighty Melting Moment for Israel.

GOD STEPPED IN!

(This was the tenth time they grumbled.)

JUDGEMENT FELL. Moses interceded, yet judgment is still imposed.

Read chpt 14:11-20.

All those who murmured against God, from twenty years old and upward, could not enter the land flowing with milk and honey.

The Lord shut the gate forever, and no foot would step upon that soil. Only Joshua and Caleb would enter. Israel was devastated.

It was too late!!

The tragic truth is that they were so close to entering!

A short walk and they would have arrived!

Now a whole generation must die off in the wilderness, wandering about, for forty years, not getting anywhere!

What can we learn from Israel?

Unbelief defeats those who refuse to believe!

I really like this poem.

TEN men who failed to see God,
Saw cities impregnably high;

TWO men “looking off” unto God, saw doom for those cities draw nigh.

TEN men who failed to see God,
Saw giants affrightingly tall.

TWO men “looking off” unto God
Saw giants as small grasshoppers.

TEN men who failed to see God,
Reported,” We are sure to fail”;

TEN men who failed to see God,
Discouraged their brother men;

TWO men perceived GOD EVERYWHERE;

ARE YOU OF THE TWO…OR THE TEN?

J.S. Baxter.

Amen.

3. THE BOOK OF NUMBERS! The Brass Serpent..

THE BRAZEN SERPENT.

A wonderful picture of the …

CROSS OF CALVARY.

Please read Num 21:4.

In the narrative, we see that the people complained about their diet of Manna. They called it “detestable” and told Moses how much they loathed it. “Yuck!” they said, as they screwed up their faces in disgust.

So we see them sin against God and against Moses. (again!)

Immediately, God sent fiery (burning) serpents among them, and they bit the people, and many Israelites died, from the very young to the very old.

Can you imagine the screaming, the panic in the camp, people were attacked in their tents, while eating, while sleeping in their beds, while washing their utensils. Deadly Snakes were intruding everywhere! They silently slithered between the bedclothes and slid over the legs of children.

People who had spoken against God were dying off at an incredible rate; nobody could escape.

Punishment was twofold: Pain, then Death!

Next, we see SUPPLICATION (earnestly intreating the Lord).

“Forgive us,” they wailed.

(Confession of sin.)

Then there is Salvation in the Brazen Serpent and a Look of Faith, which are also twofold.

The look was not a casual glance … The Hebrew text here means ..

( Look attentively, expectantly, with a steady absorbing gaze.)

Jesus said in John 3:14,15.

“As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up. And whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have Eternal Life.

(Live forever.)

Sadly, today the world is full of sin, and sin fills the earth with pain, which is then followed by death. Physical and Spiritual death.

Today, Salvation is in Christ. Your look is not just a fleeting glance but a God-honouring, God-answered, fixed, and absorbing gaze!

God prescribed the Brazen Serpent, and so was the cross of Calvary, appointed divinely as a means of Salvation.

The Serpent on the. Pole was the only Appointed Remedy. So is the cross of Christ the “only” way to be saved?

Acts 4:12. “There is salvation in none other.”

“It was CONSPICUOUS.

It was Erected High in the centre of the camp. Our Lord also was lifted up upon the cross of Calvary, for all to see!

It’s ALL SUFFICIENT.

It was AVAILABLE.

Wherever man was bitten. So there is provision in the cross of Christ for all manner of sin.

It AVAILED.

No matter how serious a man’s condition. So the cross saves the worst of sinners (even you), and there is no hint where it failed!
So the cross never fails.

Come to the cross today.

It still has the Power to save your soul!

It also delivers your body and heals your soul, the mind, will, and emotions once and for all.

It was intended as a Lesson for Israel.

They must look at the very thing that caused them pain. The cross reminds us that we are sinners and offers Salvation simultaneously.

Everyone must look for Christ Himself; no one else can save you.

It is a very personal thing, but not private!

“You must (openly) confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, then you …

SHALL BE SAVED!! Romans 10:9,10-13.

Finally, there was no hint of a gradual or delayed cure.
So it is with the Cross. You must look to the “Christ of the Cross”

Believe He shed His precious blood for you.

Ask Him to save you from SIN. Forgiveness is yours, and you receive,
ETERNAL LIFE! (Instantly)

Why don’t you receive Him today?

Here is a prayer you can pray.

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I believe you died for me and rose again. Please forgive my sin and save my soul. Please fill me with the Holy Spirit. I surrender all that I am over to You.”

*Thank you, my Lord.”

Amen.

2. THE BOOK OF NUMBERS. Miriam complains .

MIRIAM SPREADS GOSSIP.

The murmuring has now worked its way up to the highest leaders.

See Chapter 12.

Moses’ own brother and sister contentiously questioned his Leadership.
AARON was already the High Priest, and MIRIAM was Israel’s Prophetess.

Here we find another reason for
murmuring. They both possessed the spirit of “Jealous Pride.”

They wanted a higher position, to be equal in leadership, and to be equal to Moses. This issue is sad, as Miriam was a gifted Prophetess and Arron a chosen Priest.

She was Moses’s Safe-Guard when he was floating on the River Nile.

After the miracle of crossing the Red Sea, she danced and sang praises to the Lord using the Timbrel. What a marvellous privilege was hers.

But her need for popularity and recognition rose above God’s chain of command, and Arron, due to his insecurities, was easily influenced.

The complaint was not Moses’s choice of a wife but rather their choice to control his personal life.

freedom to choose.’

See Moses’s greatness. There is no self-vindication and no trace even of resentment. Imagine the emotional wounds he bore.

See verse 13. Speaking of Moses.

“His gentleness makes him great.”

“His meekness is his majesty!”

In verses 4-10, God stands with him. The Lord questioned them, not Moses, as they expected. We all should be as sweet as Moses, who was meek and lowly of heart.

So God vindicated dear Moses and admonished them.

“Were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”

They could not answer a word.

God’s judgment fell on the rebels. Immediately, Miriam becomes a leper!!

Hansen’s disease ( Leprosy) is an infection caused by a slow-growing bacterium called “Mycobacterium leprae”

It can affect the nerves, skin, eyes, and nasal lining (nasal mucosa).

Early diagnosis and treatment can cure the disease today, but not then. In the New Testament, only Jesus Christ could heal Leprosy.

Imagine how Miriam felt?

She was sick, so very sick! She had full-blown leprosy. The whole camp was awe-struck!

Note: It’s a grave sin to speak against a faithful servant of God. To his face or behind his back.
Men of God, such as Your Pastor. The Christian’s absolute safety is to leave him to God.God guards the man He calls to service.”

He will vindicate or correct that man.

Notice Moses’ forgiving spirit. He prayed for Miriam, and she was healed. What a relief for someone who was carrying such a horrible death sentence.

Let us learn from this incident ..

The Lord said, “You mumble against Moses, whoever you mumble against,
You mumble against me.”

That applies to us today.

Let us learn an important lesson from the experience of Aaron and Miriam.

Don’t judge or be opinionated about your Leadership, Christian Brothers, and Sisters.

“BLESS AND CURSE NOT!”

Pray …

Set a watch, oh Lord, over my mouth!”

In other words.

“Heart? Get right with God.”

“Mouth, shut up!”

Amen.

1. THE BOOK OF NUMBERS.

DISCONTENTMENT.

The heart ❤️ of Israel.

Why did they so easily go astray from the Lord their God?

Why did they bring their Idols with them on their journey out of Egypt?

Why did they murmur against Moses, their leader?

Why did they whinge about their lack of water?

Further on, we will understand the reason why.

Israel began complaining only three days into their journey. (Complaining had already become a habit in Egypt.)

The Ark sought a resting place for them, and God comforted them.

Canaan is just ahead. They carry with them the pledge of victory. (the Ark).

They really should be singing songs of rejoicing and thanksgiving!

Yet they are murmuring.
The fire of judgment breaks out but is stayed by Moses’s fervent prayer.

Can you imagine the pressure they put on Moses?

At one stage, Moses became so discouraged.

With tears running down his cheeks, forming tracks on his hot, dusty face, he cried unto God,

“I AM NOT ABLE TO BEAR ALL THESE PEOPLE ALONE.”

Numbers 4:10-13.

Seventy elders were chosen, upon whom God filled with the Holy Spirit.

There are between two and three million people, with all their children, tents, cattle, sheep, and belongings.
We can understand the earnestness of Moses’ prayers for this great multitude!

Read with me the two prayers at the end of chapter ten. Numbers 10:35-36.

When they set forward, he prayed …

“RISE UP, OH LORD, AND LET YOUR ENEMIES BE SCATTERED; AND LET THEM THAT HATE YOU, FLEE BEFORE YOU.”

And when they rested, he said …
“RETURN, OH LORD, UNTO THE MANY THOUSANDS OF ISRAEL.”

Murmuring never makes things easier; it usually brings more trouble.

“THOSE WHO MURMUR WITHOUT A CAUSE ARE SOON GIVEN CAUSE TO MURMUR.” (quote.)

God had said,

“YOU MURMUR AGAINST MOSES YOU MURMUR AGAINST ME.”

Christian, what do you allow to come out of your mouth?

CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS!

Murmuring is contagious. You will soon be influenced to complain if you stay around a complaining group. It is sad that people who believe these complaints begin to see them as truth, which is not so!

COMPLAINTS TURN INTO GOSSIP.

When you leave such a person, you feel drained, sometimes a bit depressed and guilty.

Choose Spirit-filled, faith-filled people as your long-term friends. Choose forever friends, eternal friends!

Then you will win over murmuring, complaining, and all its consequences.

To answer our question, why did they complain?
Complaining is not only a habit, it’s a matter of the heart.

Its root is discontentment.

You see the negative side of everything and let everybody else know. You really do not appreciate all the good around you, and miss the Goodness of God that He pours upon you every day.

“EVERY GOOD AND PERFECT GIFT COMES DOWN FROM GOD, WHO NEVER CHANGES HIS MIND, OR VARIES IN ANY WAY”

James 1:17.

Paul tells us to be content with what we own, who we are, our age, and our appearance. Your circumstances, etc.

Contentment comes as you begin to focus upon Jesus and give thanks in everything, for He has promised,

“I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU.
NO NEVER!

Amen.

5. THE BOOK OF LEVITICUS. JUBILEE AND SABBATH REST.

The Lord created the Garden of Eden for Adam and Eve to cultivate and rule over.

But sin entered this God-given, beautiful place, and Adam and Eve were banished (Genesis 3:23). Sin forced them into a wilderness of weeds and woe. Since then, God has worked out his plan to restore man to his Eden heritage.

In establishing the year of Jubilee, He set free those bound in slavery and restored the land to its rightful owners.

The keyword for JUBILEE was LIBERTY!

Every 50th year, Israel was to take a whole year off from labour, cancel all debts, and return all the family property sold back to its original owners.

The benefits of Jubilee were that God set free people and lands bound to other people.

THE OPERATIVE WORD WAS,

“REST.”

It wiped out Covetousness, Greed and Bondage. It was a year-long Sabbath rest of no toil.

It also meant REST FROM WORRY, STRESS AND FEAR.
It proclaimed freedom throughout the land.

Exodus 25:10.
That was every person’s commandment for a whole year.

The year of Jubilee would have been a time of great joy for many of the people, especially for the depressed person who was unable to get out of debt, who was set free.
All forfeited estates were returned.

The Oppressor could no longer oppress.

No servant would tremble at their lord’s stern voice.

Unfair and cruel bosses had to set their slaves free.

Righteous bosses gave a slave a choice to leave or stay as a willing bond slave for life.

The Ancient landmarks were rebuilt, and an incredible sense of ownership was experienced.

There would have been a consciousness of relief in every house and heart. Sorrow and grief would have fled away, and people would have grown closer together in family-like relationships of jubilee.

GOD’S PLAN OF JUBILEE WAS A FORESHADOWING FOR US TODAY,

A foreshadowing of our liberation in Christ.
The Gospel is the true Jubilee for us, in every sense. We are poor debtors and can do nothing to REPAY the vast amount we owe.

Read 1 Corinthians 6:19,20.

Praise our God, He has freed us from the unpayable debt of sin and shame…

AND WE ARE WELCOMED HOME!

“IF THE SON SHALL MAKE YOU FREE YOU SHALL BE FREE INDEED.”

John 8:36.

“YOU ARE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE.”

1 Corinthians 6:20.

JESUS IS OUR JUBILEE!

He restores our inheritance and brings us back to the land of our Father. One day, we will be restored to the Eternal Eden God had planned. We will live in lush perfection, never to be banished again.

Our debts are fully forgiven and our freedom fully granted. We will enjoy the Father’s fields forever!

HALLELUJAH!!
We are now anchored in God himself.

All that He is and all that He has… will be
our inheritance restored.

The JUBILEE looks toward the new:

HEAVEN AND EARTH, YET TO BE.

See this written in Revelation 21-22, following the 7th great thousand years of history, during which all rule and authority shall be brought under the feet of Jesus.

Even death, the last enemy, is destroyed. The voice of God will be heard saying,

“BEHOLD! I WILL MAKE ALL THINGS NEW!”

Then we shall know the meaning of these Scriptures in

1 Peter 2:4 and

Revelation 21:2-4.
That Inheritance of the earth, which was cancelled by SIN, shall BE GIVEN BACK TO US!

THE NEW JERUSALEM WILL DESCEND FROM HEAVEN, and the Redeemed (those who have been set free) and GLORIFIED, will assume possession of the PURCHASED POSSESSION WE HAVE IN CHRIST.

It is remarkable that during the Jubilee, God’s curse on the land after Adam and Eve sinned was lifted and temporarily suspended.

The trumpet announced the Sabbath year of Jubilee, and then all things were set free.

THIS WAS .. LIBERTY INDEED.

For the earth!

For the inheritance!

For those in bondage!

Even death, the last enemy, shall be done away.

The Voice of God will be heard saying.

“BEHOLD I WILL MAKE ALL THINGS NEW.”

Then all Creation will be delivered from the bondage of corruption, into the ..

“GLORIOUS LIBERTY OF THE CHILDREN OF GOD”

We shall experience the true meaning of Romans 8:21, 1 Peter 1:4,5. And Revelation 21:2-4.

Take the time to read them, you will be BLESSED!

Precious reader, it won’t be long before we hear the trumpet sound.

AND A PERMANENT REST AND FREEDOM WILL BE YOURS !!

Amen.

Hallelujah!😀.
