AUTHOR, JOHN THE APOSTLE.

THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR: JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.

John was the penman who was told to write these things for all to read.

Four times the Author refers to himself simply as, JOHN. Chapter 1:1,4,9. Chapter 22:8.

The reason being that he was so well known to his readers and his Spiritual authority was so widely acknowledged that he did not need to establish his credentials.

Early church tradition unanimously attributes this book to the Apostle John.

OCCASION AND PURPOSE.

Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, John had no doubt been reflecting upon the horrifying events occurring both in Rome and Jerusalem when God downloaded the impending Prophetic revelation to him, such as the Spiritual warfare that would confront the Christian Church, which would be from an anti-Christian state and anti-Christian religions.

John, as a Pastor, wanted to encourage the persecuted Christians by comforting, challenging and proclaiming a sure “Hope” of Jesus Christ’s return together with the assurance that God’s plan would overcome all the forces of evil in all its manifestations.

The book of Revelation gives a forecast of history, including it’s Apocalyptic conclusion.

John never lost sight of sharing the Gospel with those who were not living in the Kingdom of Light. See Revelation 22:17.

THE MESSAGE.

The Central message of Revelation is:

THE LORD GOD OMNIPOTENT, ALL-POWERFUL REIGNS—chapter 19:6.

THE VICTORY OF THE LAMB. Who is…

“KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Chapter 17:14.

The followers of the Lamb will be engaged in spiritual conflict and this book provides a deeper insight into the the evil nature and tactics of the Enemy.

Satan (Dragon) is becoming more and more frustrated because Jesus defeated him on the cross, and is very angry due to the restraints put upon him is desperate to thwart the plans and purposes of God that will bring his inevitable doom.

Satan will form a counterfeit “trinity” to make war upon the Saints. (Christians) Chapter 12:17.

He raises the “Beast,” the monster who is the Antichrist. This Government, a Political power to rule the World, will provide a society devoid of God and His Word. This is termed the Harlot, Chapter 17:18.

Those alive at this time must bear the Mark of the “Beast.”

If they choose to do so, they have aligned themselves with the Evil one, and their names are not written in the “Lamb’s Book of Life.”

PERSONAL APPLICATION.

We need to believe that God is the Creator of all things that pertain to your life. Such as family, economic society, and Government.

Satan cannot create anything, and he tempts us to misuse what God has. If you are alive, you must choose which Government to obey.

You must stay very close to the Lord, praying with all prayers and supplication and courageously endure and accept the dire consequences of obeying the “One,” whose seal you bear. Mark 12:16,17.

This is already happening in the World today.

After you have suffered the depths of persecution, you will emerge victorious and reign with Him.

God, at this time, is utilising all the forces of evil to accomplish His own purposes.

Dear Christian, for those of you who are suffering persecution for the sake of Christ, know that your suffering is not in vain or needless or for no meaning. God promises that you ultimately you will be vindicated.

Your hope and courage are – you have the certainty that the Enemy has been defeated and is very much doomed. As a follower of the Lamb, you are not fighting a losing cause.                                   Jesus has overcome, and therefore, you are an overcomer in Him. In Him you have the victory. If you are overcoming opposition now, it will give you the strength to stand firm when it intensifies later.

He is with you, never to leave or forsake you. You are “more” than conquerors through Him who loves you passionately.

Yes, it’s difficult, but don’t give up, don’t compromise your convictions. Remember the Evil One’s judgement and doom is soon to come.

Listen to the Holy Spirit and be faithful until death; He will give you a crown of life. Your ultimate victory is in the Exalted Christ. When He was raised from the dead, he is enthroned in Heaven as King over all the Earth. God in Heaven and God on Earth. 🌍

He is the Lion of Judah and is the only one, “Worthy” to Open the seals on the Scroll. He is the only one who can execute God’s purposes on Earth.

THE LAMB,

The sacrificial lamb is mentioned 20 times in Revelation.

Jesus the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the World.

The one who has the rightful authority and power to control all the forces of the Evil One for your salvation, deliverance, and healing.

INTRODUCTION. Allow me to explain that these messages on Revelation are lengthy but of the utmost importance. Please read them slowly and carefully, and don’t skip through as you would a field of flowers; you will miss many a deep revelation that God has for you.

One can never get too much of the Word of God!!

Revelation is the last book in the Bible, and it is perhaps the most neglected, generally disregarded, and shunned of all the books written in God’s Word.

If you see this excellent book as the Word of God and not the word of men, and believe it to be directly from God, you will find hope and happiness in your life.

No other book opens with a promise of blessing upon the one who reads it, primarily upon those who hear, believe and obey everything written therein.

Yet there are warnings to heed if you subtract or add to its message because the message is of the utmost importance and supreme value.

In it, we find the consummation ( bringing into perfection ) of all of God’s works and plans. The climax of all His promises and challenges with men. When every promise and prophecy finds its fulfilment.

In the first book of the Bible, Genesis, we have the “beginning of all.” In Revelation, we will experience the “end of all.”

It is a difficult book to read and understand, as many renowned Preachers have differing opinions about its meaning.

A critic once came to C.H. Spurgeon, the prince of preachers and asked him.  “What does Revelation mean.”

With a twinkle in his eye, Spurgeon replied, “Why, I can tell you what it means. It means what it says.”

The answer to that question would take a long time—it may take a century, as it is still unfolding.

Though mysterious, the word “Revelation” means “Unveiling.” The word Apocalypse means removing the veil of mystery and concealment.

As you read the book with me, let us pray for the Holy Spirit’s understanding and discernment to teach us its significance and focal message as we apply it to our circumstances. He is the Spirit of Truth and will lead us into “All Truth ” and give us the right approach to it.

FOUR DIFFERENT APPROACHES.

Speaking broadly, there are four different approaches whereby scholars interpret it.

PRAETORIST.

HISTORIST.

IDEALIST.

FUTURIST.

Firstly, the PRAETORIST sees the greater part of the book already fulfilled in the history of the Church. They base this upon chapter one, which says, “Write the things you have seen and the things that are, and the things which will come to pass in the future.”

Secondly, the HISTORIANS. (presentists) See a Prophetic programme covering history from the days of the Apostles to the end of time in the book. They teach that the book is unfolding throughout our present age.

IDEALIST. Thirdly the Idealist take the book of Revelation as to what is still in the future.

They accept that the letters to the seven churches cover successive stages in history. But after this, they say that future events will occur shortly before and some actually at the coming of Christ. Then, chapter 20 leads through the Millennium to the final judgement of mankind, and the last two chapters bring us into the “New Heaven and the New Earth.”

WHICH VIEW IS CORRECT?

Many impressive men of God have associated themselves with each view.

IDEALIST VIEW… They take the position that what is unveiled is Prophetic.

PRAETORIAN VIEW… They believe that what is unveiled is Prophetic, yet to be fulfilled. Things were not fulfilled by the fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th Cenury.                  They hook the symbols to events that have already taken place in history.

For example, the seven vials refer to the judgement of the Papacy of the Roman Catholic Church and Muhamadism in  the 19th Century.

FUTURISM. This I think is the correct interpretation as it fits into the whole scheme of Biblical prediction.

What is the whole picture?

The Old Testament prophecy repeatedly foretell the coming of the Royal Christ who will reign on David’s throne in Jerusalem over a regathered and a regenerated Israel and rule over the Gentile people.

But there is also a strain of Messianic prediction which has shown Jesus the Messiah as the Suffering Servant who has brought     Salvation to all men everywhere.

There is one Messiah with two comings… First: The suffering servant.

Second: As King of King’s seated upon David’s throne.

Also there is a mention of a tribulation of such magnitude that has never been before.

To keep us on track our guiding principle is not to think that if any part of Scripture is symbolical then it is “all symbolical.”

Or, if any part of Scripture is literal, then “all is literal.” That is a sweeping assumption.

Here in the portrait of Jesus, we have both the symbolic and the literal view of Him.

In reality, He is portrayed as:

One who is like the “Son of Man.”

1. Clothed with a garment down to His feet.
2. A golden girdle around His chest.
3. His hair as white as snow.
4. His eyes, a flame of fire.
5. His feet the colour of brass
6. His voice was the sound of many waters.
7. He holds many stars in His right hand.
8. Coming from His mouth is a double edged sword.
9. His face shone as bright as the sun.

ALL- CONQUERING ONE.

THE OVERCOMER.

THE KING OF KINGS, THE LORD OF LORDS.

OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST.

This Almighty Christ, God Himself, is your closest friend. It is hard to imagine in our finite minds the “Glory and Splendour” of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Yet, when we shall see Him, we shall be like Him! For we will see Him as he is.

Hallelujah!😀

There is symbolism in these aspects of Christ, but John saw Jesus in reality, not just a symbolic representation.

So in this book of Revelation we see symbolism grouped around central, literal truth and reality.

FIGHT FOR THE FAITH!

Jude is the shortest book in the Bible, yet it is full of wisdom and instruction against false teachers.

The writer calls himself, a bond servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, the one who wrote the Epistles of James, the brother of Jesus. He and James were sons of Alphaeus and Mary.

This Epistle was written under special constraint as Jude himself tells us in verse three.

“BELOVED, WHEN I DECIDED TO WRITE TO YOU ABOUT COMMON SALVATION TO REMIND YOU TO CONTEND (ARGUE AGAINST FALSE TEACHING) OF CERTAIN MEN WHO HAVE CREEPT IN AND ‘TURNED THE TRUTH OF THE GOSPEL INTO  LUSTFUL, SENSUAL DESIRE IN AN INDECENT MANNER.”

This speaks to us today.

Teaching this apostasy is a flat denial of our Master, the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are told that certain doom awaits for those who have rebelled against the Truth of the Gospel message.

Jude recalls Divine vengeance against Cain, Balaam, and Korah, who were famous for their imperiousness. (Arrogant and Dominant behaviour)

They were false men who never knew the truth and seduced many away from the truth.

They were “not” saved and now backslidden!!  They were headed for destruction all along.

Jude exposed their utter falsity by naming them as:

Hidden rocks,

Exploiting shepherds.

Clouds without water.

Trees without fruit.

Wild waves.

And Wandering stars.

You can trip over a hidden rock, be led astray by a false Shepherd, or thirst under the clouds of erroneous Doctrine. Your hunger for a fruitful life will leave you starving, and you will drown in the wild waves of error. A little wandering Star will not guide you into all truth.

This section ends with Enoch’s prophecy of coming destruction upon all such.

       HOW DO WE        CONTEND?

Realize that apostacy was foretold.

Build up yourselves upon faith in the Word of God.

Pray in the Spirit. (Tongues)

Show compassion for these contenders. Hate the sin, but love the sinner and pull them out of the fire. Rescue those under their influence, but keep yourself pure and Holy.

Why?

Because Jesus will soon return.

Keep close to the Lord and dwell in His love that must be in us. Love these people’s souls as we do,

Oppose their words and deplore their ways.

Allow the love of God to put wisdom in your lips.

You will always have enemies who will contend with you; these are those who are deceived that we pull out of the fire. 🔥 Yet some are bent upon destruction, fueled by Satan; these will defile our garments.

From such, walk away.

Jude finishes with this spectacular doxology.

BUT UNTO HIM WHO IS ABLE TO GAURD YOU FROM FALLING ( STUMBLING)  AND PRESENT YOU FAULTLESS ( WITHOUT BLEMISH ) BEFORE HIS PRESENCE OF HIS GLORY, WITH EXCEEDING JOY; TO THE ONLY WISE GOD AND SAVIOUR, THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD, BE GLORY, HONOUR, MAJESTY, DOMINION AND POWER, BEFORE ALL TIME, AND NOW AND FOREVER…UNTO ALL THE AGES!!

A FRIENDLY GREETING TO GAIUS.

Who was GAIUS?

The name GAIUS is a common name used in the Roman world, just as Tom Smith is a common name today.

It is addressed not only to GAIUS but also to those who are hospitable to visiting Preachers, Missionaries, and Evangelists.

GAIUS was honoured for his kindness toward those ministering the truth of the Gospel of Christ.

Hospitality was sometimes very tiring, and maybe Gaius was overdoing it at personal cost? Maybe that’s why John mentioned his health.

Over and against unselfish Gaius, there was Diotrephes, a selfish, proud, arrogant man who was indeed a sorry contrast. His unruly tongue and fiery temper made him unacceptable to fellow Christians.

He loved to have preeminence over people. A mister “Know-it-all.”

Have you ever encountered a person like that?     

  It can be very frustrating; they are overbearing and controlling.

Though he was not teaching false Doctrine, he was not submissive to God-given authority. He lacked

“True Love,” as in,

1 Corinthians chapter 13… “Love that doesn’t seek its  own.”

If you have someone like this in your life who is controlling your thinking, your sentences, convictions,  decisions,  and your walk in truth. Don’t give in to them just to keep peace. They are destroying your soul.

REMOVE THEM… OR REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THEM … WALK AWAY!

I’m pretty sure that John dealt with that situation soon after coming to see Gaius.

God wants us to submit to Godly authority in love and respect. This corrupt leader in John’s Church prevented men of God from ministering in his Church by withdrawing hospitality. Not only that, but he cast out anyone else who would receive them.

A PERSONAL LETTER  TO GAIUS ALONE. 

John the Apostle, also known as the Elder, especially encourages his friend Gaius to follow good and to maintain the simplicity of the Gospel, as he was personally interested in his well-being.

Verses 2, 3.

“BELOVED, I WISH, ( DESIRE) ABOVE ALL THINGS YOU WILL PROSPER AND BE IN HEALTH, EVEN AS YOUR SOUL PROSPERS.”

Here is the same verse from the Passion Translation.

(Tradition has it that Gaius was one of the seventy sent out by Christ and later was ordained by John as the Bishop of Pergamum.)

“MY BELOVED FRIEND, I PRAY THAT YOU ARE PROSPERING IN EVERY WAY, AND THAT YOU CONTINUE TO ENJOY GOOD HEALTH, JUST AS YOU ARE NOW PROSPERING.”

John wants Gaius to be enjoying good health not only spiritually but physically, that it will mirror the prosperity of his Soul.

Was Gaius in poor health?

It does not say. I think it was merely a greeting between two close friends who desired that the other experience holistic well-being that aligns with spiritual well-being, the state of the Soul.

It is not really proof of the Prosperity Gospel financially, but rather the desire that the recipient enjoy health in all areas of life—spirit, Soul, and body—living the Abundant Life, as it were.

We love to bless our friends and are eager to see them thrive in every area of their lives, no matter the formidable obstacles they face.

THE MAIN POINT.

John wanted to assure them of a warm welcome passed on to them from all the churches he had visited who showed him hospitality and a generous send- off in a manner worthy of God.

He emphasised the importance of showing hospitality to visitors who carried the Gospel message, even if they did not completely agree with their convictions.

We  as Christians are to live the truth of Christ’s life, a  ministry by caring for and supporting God’s people.

Remember that Jesus was well supported by those who took care of Him.

So as you read this little book of fifteen verses, you also can have a part in supporting those whom God sends your way.

Have nutritious meals  prepared for them, a comfortable  bedroom and all the necessities needed so they can enjoy a very pleasant stay… So that nothing can hinder the teaching of God’s Word.

‘See that you are given to hospitality.’

THE APOSTLE’S LETTER TO A MOTHER.

The second Epistle of John is addressed to an, “ELECT LADY AND HER CHILDREN.”

Some believe this lady and her children were members of a local church.

I don’t think so, I believe this little letter is addressed to a Christian “mother” whose family was a part of the Church.

What was the letter about?

As we read the following lines, we note that the word “truth” appears at least 5 times. John doesn’t write any new commandments but is encouraging them to continue what has already been communicated, “from the beginning.”

It is a command to continue in the truth.

This can be accomplished practically…

“To walk in love.“

This also must be done doctrinally… As we walk in love, our eyes need to “look” or “watch out for error.” So as to continue in the truth.

We need to have a true knowledge of what Godly love is and how to express it to others.

Many Christians have entered into marriage with the wrong concept of love. Love.  It’s selfish, and their marriages have sadly failed and ended in divorce.  Our love should be the love of God expressed toward each other. Do you totally understand the love of God? 

His love being, 

Sacrificial,

Unconditional,

Unending,

Everlasting,

Forgiving.

Accepting.

Doctrinally John warns us not to listen to erroneous teachers who preach a false kind of love.

A love that is wrapped up in selfishness, pride and arrogance. These false teachers do not accept that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. The word. “Not confess” means “To Deny”

This teaching is not from God, but from the “Antichrist” Satan, “The Deciever“

Some denied that Christ “had not” already come in the flesh.

Others denied that He “could not come in the flesh.” Today, they are inclined to teach, “That He never came in the flesh, or will come again in the flesh.“

Jesus Christ, the Divine Spirit has come in material form and will come again according to the Scriptures.

The world is near its end; there is little time left. Come to Jesus today before it’s too late. Invite Him to forgive your sin and save your soul.

“Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life; no man can come to the Father but by Him.” John 14:6

These false teachers are a red traffic light for you to pull up!  Whoever abides in this erroneous Doctrine is not of God.

This is so true today, don’t be misled by false teachers. Always check every doctrine by the Word of God.

John is hard on those who teach wrong doctrine and commands the believers not to involve them in their lives, even in their private homes.

Why? They are those contaminated by the virus of false doctrine, just as your doctor forbids you to mix with those who carry a deadly virus into your home, for safety’s sake, for yourself and your children.

Yes, we pray for them and love their souls, but definitely do not cooperate with them in improper handling of God’s Word.

In the Bible, there is a truth.

Never betray your love for Jesus Christ, who loved and saved you from sin.

You need to understand and know the Doctrine of Christ. We are admonished to “Always be ready to answer for the hope that is in you.”

Jesus has all these attributes.

Share Christ Intellectually.

Share Him Experientially.

Share Him Biblically.

Share Him by your changed life.

Such an array of colour.

TRUTH VERSES ERROR.

Last week, we concentrated upon the area of riches and poverty in this First Epistle.

Today, we concentrate on seven striking contrasts in this Epistle to distinguish Christian Truth from Error. When we know what is true, we can abide in it. The truth will set you free… if you have an eye to see!

Let’s look at seven contrasts where we can know and feel at home.

1. THE LIGHT FROM THE DARKNESS.

2. THE FATHER VERSES THE WORLD.

3. CHRIST VERSES THE ANTICHRIST..

4. GOOD WORKS VERSES EVIL WORKS.

5. THE HOLY SPIRIT VERSES ERROR.

6. LOVE VERSES PRIDEFUL PRETENCE.

7. THE BORN AGAIN VERSES RELIGION.

We must test ourselves in our profession of our faith.

Our desires. 

The doctrine we believe.

Our conduct.

How we discern the Word of God.

Our motives in serving others.

Our New Birth.

You cannot but notice in this Epistle a clear demarcation between what is Truth and Error. According to John, they are black and white, with no compromise.

SPIRITUAL FUNDAMENTALS.

John teaches that we must believe in Jesus Christ and love one another.

Chapter 3:23.

We must share our love with others.

We love, because He first loved us by sacrificing His Son for us. That should be enough to motivate us to even love our enemies.

The true blessings are found in a heart that is at rest with God. The secret is:

PERFECT LOVE CASTS OUT FEAR.

You can’t love and fear at the same time!

If we adhere to sound doctrine, then we will not be tempted to lower our standards of conduct.

TO MAKE MY HEART HIS DWELLING PLACE.

Seven times we read the words,  “If we say” or “He has said.”

These sayings are a test to see if we are being honest and real in our Christian lives.

Here they are:

If we say, “We have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, “we lie!”

THAT IS FALSE FELLOWSHIP.

If we say, “We have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”

FALSE HOLINESS.

If we say, “We have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.”

  That is….

FALSE RIGHTEOUSNESS.

He that has said, “I know Him, and does not keep His commandments, is also a liar.”

That is…

FALSE ALLEGIANCE.

He that said, “He that abides in Him should walk as He walked.”

That is…

FALSE BEHAVIOUR.

He that says, “

He is in the light and hates his brother is living in the darkness.”

That is …

FALSE CHRISTIANITY.

And finally, “He that confesses how much he hates a brother or sister is also a liar.”

He has a…

FALSE LOVE FOR GOD.

To sum it all up, I suggest that you be … Honest with God!

Honest with yourself.

And honest with others.

No Pretence. No Hypocrisy.

Try to be encouraging towards others. Be real, and ask the Lord to give you His love for each other.

OH THE GIFT! OH THE GRACE THAT HE SHOULD TAKE MY PLACE.

THAT GOD SHOULD CONDESCEND.

AND BECOME MY CLOSEST FRIEND.

Who wrote the Epistles of John? They are not signed, but they appear to be connected to one another, and what we call John’s First Epistle seems to be related to the fourth Gospel of John in the New Testament.

THE AUTHOR…

The Author identifies himself as the disciples whom Jesus loved John 21:20-24.

He loves us all equally, not one above the other. Scripture points out others whom Jesus loved.

For example, the rich young ruler, and Barnabas whom Jesus loved.           

Why do you think that John mentioned that Jesus loved him? Was it that John was more worthy of His love?

No, I believe that John was secure in His love and knowing that… gave him the confidence to walk in that love and acceptance despite what others thought about him.

Does God love you? Do you have to earn His love by your actions or your personality? Do your failures and mistakes cancel out His love? NO!!

Knowing that He loves you unconditionally should give you confidence to step out in faith amongst those who make themselves your enemies to fulfil your mission for Him.

THE TIMES OF GREAT PERSECUTION.

This was when John wrote these letters to a persecuted Church in the Diaspora.   (when the people were being dispersed from their homeland into regions beyond).

These persecuted people were targeted by Annas, the High Priest, to bring them under his influence  of Judaism.

THE END TIMES.

The letters were written in the context of the end times, which include the seasons of their lifetime and also moves into our lifetime, where the Beast, named the Anti-Christ, will appear. 1 John 2:18.

John sadly mentioned those who were once part of them but left in opposition to them.

They denied that Jesus was the ‘True Messiah” and denied the Father, too, according to,

1 John 2:22.

Where people experiencing poverty were judged according to their lack of finances as being their own fault, and refused to help them out of poverty. So they stopped supporting them in their plight.

These teachers exalted themselves and lorded it over the flock of God. If anyone protested, they were quickly removed from the Church and suffered great persecution.

Today, these false teachers preach that if you give into their ministry, God will bless you with the opportunity to own houses and land beyond your wildest hopes and dreams.

Sadly, your gifts are not always used for the Ministry but for their personal gain.

The principle of giving is correct, as God blesses the giver, but He only truly blesses the pure in heart. (Giving with a pure motive.)

The problem in John’s day was that they had rebelled against the teaching of Jesus. He loved the poor, the broken, the tax collector, and the beggar.

BLESSINGS ALWAYS FOLLOW SACRIFICE.

“He became poor, so we may become rich.”

Always seek the Lord’s will concerning your giving.

Give cheerfully.

Give sacrificially.

Give expecting nothing in return

Give as He gave.

Give thanks.

Give yourself.

Be Heavenly minded.

He loved all the outcasts of society and certainly taught us not to accumulate treasures on this Earth but to give to the poor.

Seek His Kingdom first.

TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH RICHES!

If you have been blessed with riches.

Rejoice in His bountiful blessings; don’t feel guilty.

Pray for Godly Wisdom to use what you own for His glory and honour.

Remember people with low incomes. Remember Israel.

Love the Lord with all of your heart ❤️, constantly reminding yourself that the love of money is the root of all evil.

TO THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE POOR!

If you are one of those who are living in poverty, it’s not your fault, but the socioeconomic conditions in which you were born. Or the neighbourhood in which you live. Your drug addict parents or other reasons that have stripped people of their rights resulting in their oppression.

Though there are those who have squandered their money on the lusts of the flesh and the pride of life. They reap what they sow.

Rejoice, God has the power to make you rich.

Don’t Blame God.

Dont be Envious.

Don’t copy the wicked.

Don’t enter into get rich schemes.

Don’t Gamble.

Don’t Steal.

Be Honest.

Ask for Wisdom.

Ask for Protection.

Obey the Word of God.

Step out in Faith and Give Thanks.

My God is a miracle working God. Ask Jesus to save you from sin, sickness and poverty.  He loves you and desperately wants to save you.

He will lift you up out of the mirey clay and set your feet upon a rock…

THE AUTHOR, THE APOSTLE PETER.

It was written just before his martyrdom. Peter requested that he be crucified upside down as he was unworthy to die as his master Jesus Christ.

THE DEVELOPMENT OF FAITH.

The faith that has been given to us must be added to, so it will grow into maturity.

Eight things added that will strengthen our faith making us partakers of the Divine Nature are:

1.  Faith.

2. Moral excellence. 

3.  Knowledge.

4.  Self Control.

5. Perseverance.

6.  Godliness.

7. Brotherly Kindness.

8. Love.

So that that we would escape the corruption in the world by lust.

Sexual sin was rife in Peter’s day, as it is today. It traps the sinner and Christian alike.

When a true believer has the Nature of God living in him by the Holy Spirit, lust cannot remain or entice him to indulge in sinful behaviour.

Choosing to live a Godly life will keep you from stumbling.  It takes obedience and self-control.  Don’t put yourself in the way of temptation by reading pornography, watching R-rated movies, or visiting Prostitutes.

Homosexuality is a sexual perversion that God will punish. Keep in mind what fate came upon Sodom and Gomorrah.

We must crucify the cravings of the flesh. You must not live with a woman or man, calling them your “Partner”, implying that God is ok with that. There  will be future punishment in this world, and finally, the eternal Lake of 🔥 fire.

The false teachers had eyes full of adultery, sleeping with any woman they saw.

Peter shares that their lives are barren as springs without water.

Mists driven by storms that cannot refresh your soul but leave you lost in total darkness, utterly depraved.

THE LAST DAYS.

Peter reminds them that the day is at hand; mockers will come and refute the soon-coming of Jesus. Peter demonstrated through nature that God’s Word is life-changing and factual.

Once, before, the world was created from water, it was destroyed by a flood.

Now, it is reserved to be destroyed by fire.

It will come like a thief in the night, in which the Heavens will pass away and the elements will melt with intense heat, and the Earth will be burned up.

We, who have a genuine relationship with Him, look toward, 

NEW HEAVENS and a NEW EARTH.

Today, the World is as it was in the days of Noah, totally depraved! Why is He delaying His return?

Because God does not view time as we do, and He wants more people to repent!

This is why we must live Godly lives. Spotless and blameless, like Christ! Increasing in knowledge and wisdom to counteract false teaching.

Please don’t look down on these people; instead love them into the Kingdom of God.

Dear reader if your life is caught up in the ways of the World, it is never too late to repent of your sin and turn to Jesus who wants to save. deliver and heal you.

You cannot turn over a new leaf and do it in your own strength.

Only Jesus can set you free from the bondage of sin. Only He can break the chains of darkness,  open the prison doors of addiction and set you free.

Everything you have been craving for will be found in Him.

Love, joy, peace. A life of satisfaction and purpose. A hope for the future and of course Eternal Abundant life.

This is yours immediately upon praying this prayer of Salvation.

“Oh my Lord Jesus, I am steeped in sin and cannot save myself. I believe you died for me and rose again. Please come into my life, cleanse me of sin and save my soul.

Fill me with the Holy Spirit, set me free fom all addiction so l can live my life for You.”

Amen.

LIVING HOPE, LIVING WORD, LIVING STONE.

The Apostle Peter penned this book for those of the “Dispersion.” This was a common term for the thousands of Jews who lived during the Assyrian and Babylonian captivities recorded in the Old Testament.

They were scattered all over the region, and Peter wanted to encourage them in their acute trials.

As we read it, it definitely has a message for our time, as the end-of-age days are approaching.

The Lord has a special message for you in your troubles and trials.

Peter encourages them in their present trials but speaks of a “fiery trial” yet to come—i.e. Tribulation and persecution of grand proportions just before He returns.

“Beloved, don’t think it strange concerning the fiery trial yet to try you.”

He reminded them that they possessed a LIVING HOPE by the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and to live in that hope and declare it.

We also must always keep that hope fixed in our minds. The very thought of it gives us future and a hope when things seem chaotic.

The resurrected Christ is the only hope for Salvation, Healing, and Deliverance from all powers of darkness.

No other religion has this hope, as no other leader has ever come back to life by rising from the dead—not Buddha, Mohammad, Joseph Smith, Mary White, or even the Pope.

         WE HOPE ONLY IN JESUS…WHO IS “THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE!

He said,  “I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE.”

“No man comes to the Father but by Me.” John 14:6. This is our wonderful hope.

Jesus is the “LIVING WORD”

He is the WORD that was in the beginning with God and “was” God and He is also the WRITTEN WORD. God’s revelation to us  through the Bible.

I absolutely love these verses penned by Peter.

“SEEING THAT YOU HAVE PURIFIED YOUR SOULS IN OBEYING THE TRUTH THOUGH THE SPIRIT… ‘BEING. BORN AGAIN NOT OF CORRUPTIBLE SEED” ( That which is susceptible to eternal decay.)     BUT OF INCORRUPTIBLE SEED.

(Seed!) The Greek term for “Sperm.”

The “INCORRUPTABLE SPERM OF GOD” . Why am I so excited?

Because I have been born again by that which is INCORRUPTIBLE! 

Jesus … The LIVING WORD.

If you are genuinely born again by the Sperm of GOD!                                     Your Salvation is, INCORRUPTABLE!!

YOU CANNOT LOSE IT!!!

All you need to do is trust the “One” who has done good work for you, as:       

  “HE WILL PERFORM IT UNTIL THE DAY OF JESUS CHRIST.”     Philippians 1:6.

Trust Him and crave His Word as a baby craves milk.

Looking to Jesus , THE LIVING STONE.    Rejected by men, but elect of God. You and I are now “Living Stones” to offer ourselves as living sacrifices to build up a SPIRITUAL HOUSE.

Your and my inheritance in Christ is our “Living Hope.” Hope that is flawless, fadeless, reserved in Heaven for us. IMPERISABLE … INCORRUPTABLE AND INDESTRUCTIBLE.

Oh my, let’s bring praise and honour to his Holy Name.

Amen.

After reading this, you may have discovered that you are not truly Born Again.

If you admit that you are a sinner needing a Saviour.

That you cannot save yourself.

You believe that Jesus Christ died and is risen  again to save you from the penalty of sin.( Spiritual death)

And you have invited Him to save you for all eternity.

Then you are saved by the Spirit of God.

Then you are Born Again!!

If not! Then take these steps now and make Him your Lord and Saviour. You’ll never regret when you open your heart’s door and let Him come in.

THE ROOT CAUSES OF IMPARTIALITY.

Last week we learned the consequences of favouritism and are saddened thereby.

Today, we will find some root causes of impartiality.

EXTERNAL FOCUS.

Often we can show favouritism because we focus our attention on the man and not upon God. We don’t want others to look at us and say,

Well, “look who she is hanging out with.” 

They did this to Jesus, criticising how He ate with Tax Collectors and sinners. He didn’t care what people said (Matthew 9:10-13.

Social pride will cause us to choose friends in order to appear acceptable to those who are watching.

Peter faced this problem,when he refused to eat with the Gentiles for the fear of the Jews.

Galatians 2:11-13.

DESIRE FOR PRAISE.

You openly do things so others will see your good works before men and publicly praise you. You already have your reward. Jesus tells us, “Don’t let your right hand know what your left hand is doing.”

THE RICH AND THE POOR.

James mentioned how we honour the rich above the poor. A person in a high position can do more for us, so we befriend them and avoid people experiencing poverty. God is interested in the heart, not the status.

Ask yourself. Why am I doing this? Is it to gain acceptance from people? I think so! It shows how insecure we are.

HOW TO AVOID THIS HAPPENING IN OUR CHURCHES.

• Don’t hang out in the same group and avoid other needy people.
• Don’t give special recognition to those who make large donations.
• Help the poor.
• Pay attention to newcomers.
• Welcome the Prostitute, the divorced, the single mother, sit with them.
• Don’t judge others by what they wear. Do not correct their lifestyle or choices that are unacceptable to your standards. Love them and allow the Holy Spirit to convict and convince them of sin.
• Invite the newcomers for coffee or a meal.  Encourage them to join in small group activities.   
• HOW TO STOMP ON FAVOURITISM.

We all could improve in this area of our lives. Let’s not focus on people’s positions in the world, whether they are rich or poor.

Jesus is our true example of whom we can follow. He was no respecter of people. 

He gave up all His rights to royal riches, honour, recognition, and popularity, and humbled Himself to become a mere man, a criminal who could relate to us in our poverty and sin. To die for us, pay the price for our sin, and exalt us to Kingdom living in all it offers. 

He loves you so much and has sent His beautiful Holy Spirit to live the abundant life in and through you in your home, church and your society.

SO LET HIS MIND BE IN YOU TO LIVE AN IMPARTIAL LIFE OF LOVING AND ACCEPTING OTHERS.
