GOD’S STANDARDS FOR PURITY.

God’s choice is perfect.

This message was prepared to be a chapter in a book written by an up-and-coming author, John Martin.

It is not a devotional; rather, it teaches how to lift and restore God’s standards in churches, relationships, and society in general. So it is lengthy to read, but well worth the effort…

Please read carefully and share it with those whom God lays on your heart.

THE NEED FOR PURITY.

When you consider a man and a woman’s greatest need, it becomes clear that love and acceptance matter most and go beyond physical attraction. A Godly man will share this desire, seeking to protect his partner from immorality and to honour her in the eyes of God, ideally presenting her as a chaste virgin in marriage before God. However, the temptation to engage in sexual behaviour before marriage remains strong, often justified by various rationalisations such as engagement status or societal norms. The foundation for God’s teachings on this matter is firmly established in the Ten Commandments, which clearly state that sexual relations outside of marriage are forbidden. God is emphatic; He commands … “THOU SHALT NOT!” In other words … “DON’T DO IT!”

Exodus 20:14. The call for holy living encompasses every aspect of life—spirit, soul, and body—underscoring that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, deserving reverence and purity. The Bible is explicit about God’s expectations regarding modesty, chastity, and morality, emphasising a commitment to a life free from sexual sins, including adultery, fornication, and other forms of immorality. Adultery refers to sex outside of marriage, while fornication pertains to sexual relations before marriage. A Godly couple will choose not to compromise on these standards, recognising the wisdom behind God’s design for sexual intimacy—an act meant to unite two individuals as one in body, soul, and spirit.        Sex should be a wedding gift offered after the marriage ceremony. It is also so pure that it can be seen as an act of worship.

Couples must take the time to understand each other’s values and expectations before marriage. Rushing into physical intimacy can cloud judgment and lead to unforeseen consequences like unplanned pregnancies or undisclosed issues in a partner’s character.

The distinction between love and lust is vital: love can afford to wait, while lust often seeks immediate gratification.

THE MIND. Matthew 5:27,28 “TRULY I SAY UNTO YOU. THAT WHOEVER LOOKS UPON A WOMAN TO LUST AFTER HER HAS COMMITTED ADULTERY WITH HER IN HIS HEART.” Immorality begins in the mind, and it’s essential to guard one’s heart against the influences of a world that normalises casual sexual encounters. While many may choose to live together without the commitment of marriage, these arrangements often lack true dedication and can result in emotional pain when relationships end. By contrast, those who pursue God’s standards can build strong, lasting marriages united in faith. Christians are encouraged to be mindful of what they consume through media and relationships, as these influences can lead to moral compromise. Some couples decide to refrain from kissing one another, as passionate kissing can lead to sexual immorality. Setting boundaries is crucial; couples should manage physical expressions of affection thoughtfully to avoid crossing lines that lead to sin. Each couple must communicate openly about their limits, recognising that avoiding temptation is a mutual responsibility. Ultimately, the teachings of Scripture provide a clear guide to the consequences of sexual immorality, reminding us that true love is characterised by respect, commitment, and the shared desire to uphold God’s standards. As the Bible shows, living by these principles leads to fulfilling relationships grounded in faith and integrity.

CHEATING WITHIN A MARRIAGE.     Men or women who cheat on their marriage partners are often looking for things that they don’t get from their current relationship. Having an affair is not the answer, as it is not satisfying, and now the great cover-up happens, and many lies and deceit follow. Then regret and guilt trouble the mind.

ONLY JESUS CAN SATISFY YOUR SOUL!

Stop looking for people to satisfy that deep longing in your ❤️ heart. Your needs will never be met in extramarital encounters. The spiritual is never satisfied by sensual acts. Only a genuine relationship with God through the Lord Jesus will satisfy your need for love and acceptance. Only Jesus can cleanse you from sin and live His life in and through you. He also wants you to make things right with your partner as you admit and repent of your actions.               He restores what is broken, and He mends broken hearts. Let go of your inordinate desires, and let Him rule your life.

PUNISHMENT FOR A PRACTICING ADULTERER.

In the Old Testament, stoning was a punishment for adultery. Adultery has its own punishment upon the mind. Proverbs warns that “He that commits Adultery destroys his own soul ( mind.) Adultery destroys the marriage, ending in divorce. It causes severe rejection problems for the children of that broken marriage. Hell is the final consequence of an unrepentant adulterer. The Old and New Testaments clearly state that no adulterer will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

THERE IS ALWAYS FORGIVENESS!

Any sexual offender who repents of sin and turns their life over to Jesus will find total forgiveness and the freedom to live a pure and holy life. It’s never too late to repent! True repentance will save you from the penalty of sin, and the Kingdom of Heaven is open to you. In First Corinthians 9:10, we discover:

“DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT THE UNRIGHTEOUS WILL NOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD? “DO NOT BE DECEIVED; NEITHER FORNICATORS, IDOLATORS, ADULTERERS, NOR EFFEMINATE NOR HOMOSEXUALS, NOR THIEVES, NOR THE COVETOUS, NOR DRUNKARDS, NOR REVILERS, NOR SWINDLERS WILL INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD.”

Who is the unrighteous person? Anyone who has committed the above sins is called the “Unrighteous.”

GOD is not calling you names. Instead, He is describing who you are – a sinner!                 So, whatever sin you commit, you bear that label. ( If you steal something, you are labelled a thief and a robber.) This applies to Adultery and Fornication. If you practice those sins, you are now labelled an Adulterer or a Fornicator. That means you are unrighteous in the sight of God, but… Praise God, “HE DEMONSTRATED HIS LOVE TOWARD US, IN THAT WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US.”Romans 5:8.

Sin is sin in the eyes of God; not one sin is worse than another, be it Adultery or Murder. The penalty is Spiritual death in Hell for all eternity.

The only remedy is to be “Born again” by the Spirit of the Lord. You pass from death to life and become a new person with a brand-new nature. Gone are the constant desires to sin against the Lord because you are so grateful that He has saved you… You no longer want to sin because you love Him. Look at what else the Apostle Paul says in the following verse: “SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU.”
Now, my friend, you are washed clean, sanctified (set apart from this evil world), and made Holy unto God. So my prayer for each of us is found in Jude 1:24, 25. “NOW UNTO HIM THAT IS ABLE I KEEP YOU FROM FALLING, AND TO PRESENT YOU “FAULTLESS” BEFORE THE PRESENCE OF HIS GLORY WITH “EXCEEDING JOY.” TO THE ONLY WISE GOD OUR SAVIOUR, BE GLORY AND MAJESTY, DOMINION AND POWER, BOTH NOW AND FOREVER.” Amen.

If you are in such a relationship and you want out!

Repent of your sin and walk away. Give your life to Jesus. He will not only forgive you, but also help and guide you in your life. Seek a Godly counsellor to help you move on into the life that God has planned for you.

A Prayer …

“Lord Jesus, thank you for your love for me. I am a sinner in need of a Saviour; come into my life,  save my soul and lead me into your path of righteousness for your Name’s sake. Thank you for washing me clean with your precious blood and setting me free.

Please fill me with your Holy Spirit that He will keep me from falling and be presented to God the Father, without spot or blemish or any such sin.

I choose this day to follow you all the days of my life and dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Be strong in the Lord.

Amen
