IS IT FOR EVERYONE?
Some Christians believe that God heals all sickness and disease supernaturally, but not everyone is healed, even though they believe.
Some Christians, beautiful saints of God, die of illness after a long period of suffering despite their belief and faith in Christ as the Healer… Why? It breaks my heart to see this happening to wonderful saints of God. So we will, with God’s help, seek answers from His perspective.
Have you walked the aisle in a healing meeting, expecting to be healed, only for nothing to happen? Or has someone earnestly prayed for you, and there is no evidence of change in your condition? You go home feeling greatly disappointed and conclude that God doesn’t want to heal you, or that there is something wrong with your faith. Well-meaning Christians will analyse you, suggesting that you have unconfessed sin in your life, such as unforgiveness, or a secret sin of adultery or immorality, or whatever! They remind you that your lack of healing is definitely not God’s fault, but yours. Though this may be true for some people who are not healed, it is not true for you. With no answers, you tend to give up and decide that God wants you to live with sickness, or that there may be a spiritual purpose in your suffering, and God is teaching you something that needs changing in your life. You decide that it must be God’s will for you to spend your time on this Earth sick, and you put your hope that your healing will come when you enter into Heaven.
So you make plans around your sickness instead of walking in healing.
What about the Lord’s Prayer, where it says,
“AS IT IS IN HEAVEN, SO BE IT ON THIS EARTH.”
If there is no sickness in Heaven! Neither should there be on Earth. Yet we do live in a sin-sick world. But we, as Christians, have Jesus Christ living in us.
At this stage of our study, I need to mention that God does not afflict us with sickness to refine our character, point out sin, or teach us something from His Word. He “allows” us to suffer persecution, sickness, and tribulation from Satan’s hand, as in the case of Job, but not illness directly from His hand.
He is a good God, “Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of Lights, in whom there is no variance or a shadow of change.”
James 1:17.
When you face sickness and disease, being totally surrendered to God, you can learn valuable lessons from that suffering.
Your faith grows, and you become more patient. You use your sickness to reach other unwell people, the doctor, and the Medical staff. You do not blame God for it; rather, you draw closer to Him. He is the Wellspring of healing. Even so, sickness will limit you- spiritually, physically, mentally, and financially and it affects your life and your relationships.
It cannot be God’s will.
Remember: It is not how effective “you are as a sick person. It is how effective you “can be” when you walk in complete health. That is the perfect will of God. Sickness is not the “abundant life” that Jesus promised, is it?
Healing is not a technique… its a relationship.!
PAUL’S THORN.
Many Christians teach that sickness is the will of God, and they use the passage about Paul’s thorn in the flesh to encourage you that what you are suffering is from God, so that you can draw your strength from Him. That He has refused your healing and has said a”NO” to your earnest prayer.
THE THORN.
2 Corinthians 12: 7-10
What was Paul’s thorn? It was an agonising, mysterious affliction sent to torment him. Some people suggest it was a physical illness that God refused to heal. Others say God ignored Paul’s prayer, or that He did not want to answer his cry. Paul had asked three times for God to remove it, without using His strength to endure it, with no promise of healing.
THORNS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT. Numbers 33:55. Here we read that the thorns in the side were actually the Canaanites, the enemies of the Jews.
In Ezekiel 28:24, Israel’s hostile neighbours were called “Pricking Briers” and “Painful Thorns.”
In every case, the thorns represent a group of people causing ongoing persecution and suffering, not a physical condition as some believe. Some think it may have been Paul’s failing eyesight.
Paul called his thorn,
“A Messenger from Satan”: a Demonic assault, or a persistent temptation sent by Satan to derail his ministry and shake his faith. Paul described the effects of this unwanted enemy as extreme weakness or exhaustion. Insults, hardships, persecutions and calamities.
At one point, Paul was stoned to death and his followers prayed for him and God raised him again.
Personally, I think it was not physical sickness but spiritual warfare, resulting in emotional oppression or burden, which hindered his calling to preach the Gospel.
We must be clear on this truth.” God does not willingly afflict the children of men” this way, especially us as Christians.
He is a compassionate, loving Father who desires His children’s Spirit, Soul, and Body to prosper and be kept blameless until the coming of Jesus.
Satan is the one you should blame, and not the Lord. Amen?
It’s a contradiction to believe that God is the author of sickness and disease when He came to this earth in the body of Jesus Christ as…
“The Healer!”
The Greek word for Salvation is “Sozo”, meaning Salvation, Deliverance, and Healing…
Jesus is your Saviour. His presence gives you life and the abundant life that He promised.
Not just the healing part of Him, you have His very nature, His fullness, God living in you.
Colossians 2:9,10
Yet we must keep in mind that Paul called the thorn a Messenger of Satan, not from God.
Really, we can only speculate, as no one knows. Whatever it was… God’s Grace was and is sufficient!
HOW DOES GOD HEAL TODAY? There are many avenues you can take to experience God’s healing.
1. Medication. Drugs of all kinds.
2. Surgery.
3. R.E.D. Rest, exercise, and a nutritious, healthy diet.
4. Vitamin Supplements, herbs.
5. Chiropractic manipulation, Acupuncture, Remedial massage.
Most holistic doctors believe that the body can heal itself if you give it enough time. Many sick people will try all the above solutions and various remedies, but to no avail. They have been told that their disease is incurable and to go home and learn to live with it.
So, they allow their body to determine their condition. Shouldn’t it be: not what the Dr thinks, but how God sees you? He sees you well, not sick.
HOW MUCH MONEY IS WASTED IN OUR QUEST FOR HEALING?
So we, as Bible-believing Christians, need to have both eyes fixed upon Jesus as our healer. Many of us have one eye on remedies and the other upon Jesus. Don’t be a one- eyed person. Fix both eyes upon the Lord Jesus.
Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into all truth. Don’t take the broad way of listening to many opinions of men of this World…Watch what you read on Dr Google! Take the narrow way of walking with Jesus. Decide…
“Now it’s Jesus and me. For each tomorrow, for every trial, sickness and sorrow. I know that I can depend upon my newfound friend until the end; it’s Jesus and me.”
SUPERNATURAL HEALING.
This is where God Himself steps in through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit, miraculously healing incurable diseases, and the sick person is made perfectly whole without any assistance from man. No disease is beyond God’s healing power. “Nothing is impossible with Him.”
Jesus Christ healed every disease known and unknown to man.
“We also can lay hands on the sick in His Name, and they shall recover!”
Mark 16:1718.
What about the promise that says,
“To everyone who asks it shall be given.” In this case, healing. That is a promise that has been already fulfilled at the cross.
SUPERNATURAL HEALING IN THE OLD TESTAMENT.
1. Sarah was barren most of her life; being past childbearing age, she gave birth to a child at the age of ninety… 2.Abraham was one hundred years old when Isaac was born.
3. Naaman was healed of Leprosy.
4. The Shunamite’s son was raised from the dead by Elisha the Prophet.
GOD’S HEALING NAME.
In the Old Testament, God was known by many names. He acted in accordance with each one. In the case of healing, we observe his name as,
“RAPHA”
“YAHWEH RAPHA”,
Yahweh… meaning “I AM.” Rapha… meaning “HEALER.”
And we must believe that “He is” and the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Sometimes healing takes time; we can make the mistake of expecting a supernatural zap! – an instant miracle. If that doesn’t happen, we say we are not healed.
Restoration, recovery, renewal, and rejuvenation are words that depict a slow process of healing.
Psalm 23:2
“He ‘restores’ my soul.”
Psalm 103:5
“He satisfies my mouth with good things so my youth is ‘renewed’ like that of the Eagle.”
Once you have asked God to heal you, you should immediately, by faith, believe that He “has” heard and answered your prayer and “is” at work in your body from the moment you asked.
Instead of asking again and again, you give thanks and believe His Word. Yes, we are instructed to keep on asking and it shall be given.
True, but we don’t keep asking for what’s already been given. In this case, healing!
Remember that when you confessed your sins, you were cleansed by the blood of Jesus from all unrighteousness. That sickness you have at the moment is a part of sin and unrighteousness.
DON’T LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!
Your renewed transformed mind can preach to your body…
“Body, stop your rebellion in Jesus’s Name.”
You speak with your mind and command, “Body, you belong to God, not the doctors, and definitely not to your symptoms; you must line up with God’s holy Word.”Be healed in the Name of Jesus.
SUPERNATURAL HEALING IN THE NEW TESTAMENT.
The New Testament offers numerous examples of healing. Even before Jesus fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy that He would bear our sicknesses on the cross, Jesus went about healing…
“All who came to Him.”
That statement is mentioned five times in the Gospels.
Also, He gave His disciples the power and authority to heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the dead.
This miraculous Commission was also given to us as believers in His Mighty Name.
GIVE HIM TIME TO FULFILL HIS WORD.
Please read Psalm 41:3-9. Rapha-God is gently at work, sustaining you on your sickbed. He is with you always. He is fluffing up your pillow, straightening your sheets and blankets, tucking you in tightly, keeping you from all harm.
All this began the moment you prayed and received His Divine healing.
“Being confident of this very thing. He that has begun a good work in you will also bring it to completion, right up to the day of Jesus’s coming again.”
Philippians 1:6.
THE ORIGIN OF SICKNESS AND DEATH.
As I have mentioned. So many people are quick to blame God for sickness and accidents. Many turn from Him in bitterness and anger. Let’s go deeper into understanding why we become sick.
The instigator of illness is Satan, who kills, steals and destroys. Sickness is the result of sin (not always personal), and the wages of sin are death… physical and Spiritual.
We as Christians can, through deliberate sin, open the door to Satan and his hordes to attack our lives.
1. By consuming drugs and alcohol.
2. Eating unnutritious diets. Too much Sugar!!
3. Stress, worry, fear, bitterness, and anger are open doors for demons to lay disease upon us.
4. Unforgiveness.
5. Witchcraft, occult practices.
6. Various curses.
Such as generational curses passed down the family line to you today.
Or those curses that you speak over yourself,
Or those that your enemies place on you. These need to be broken in Jesus’ name through His finished work on Calvary. He took that curse upon Himself and broke its power over you.
A self-curse goes something like this…
” Cancer is in my family; I’m certain I will die from it.”
“It’s flu season; I always get the flu every year.”
“It’s inevitable for me to be sick because it is a result of old age.”
You hear many people say, “It’s just old age.” That’s not true; sickness is not synonymous with old age. Healthy older people are walking about on this earth.
Listen to this story of a great Evangelist. T.J. Osborn, who was known as the father of evangelism. This dear man died at the age of 89 in his own home without any pain or sickness in his body. Surrounded by four generations of offspring, his daughter reported… “He just stopped breathing.” I think that ‘is’ God’s original plan for us as believers.
SICKNESS IS THE RESULT OF THE FALL.
When sin entered the world and death by sin, so sickness followed, passing on to all men.
SIN HAS ITS CONSEQUENCES. Only Jesus has the power over sin. He is the mender of broken hearts, the binder of wounds.
He sets the captive free.
Opens the eyes of the blind.
He makes the deaf to hear.
See Isaiah 61:1-2. Luke 4:18,19.
Jesus wants to heal all mental torment, such as Depression, Brain fog, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Obsessive thoughts. Phobias, ADHD. Bipolar disorder, Manic Depression, Addictions. Schizophrenia, and any chemical imbalance in your brain. He has the power to change any mental confusion—even poor memory.
He can rid your life of the trauma that blocks your healing and cripples your soul.
Psalm 23:3. Promises you. “He restores my Soul.” (The mind, will, and emotions.)
You are told in Scripture, “We have the Mind of Christ.”
There is nothing wrong with His mind! We have been given a… “renewed mind.”
Psalm 141:3 “He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds.
That is, He heals your emotions that rage within you.
He brings peace to your troubled soul.
He gives His beloved sleep to those who toss and turn in their beds at night.
All the abuse you have suffered, the rejection you feel, He will heal them all. You do not have to carry grief for the rest of your life; He wants to set you free.
His loving arms are around you, bringing new life, new hope, new healing.
Suppose your physical healing isn’t happening right away. Maybe you need to address some issues.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal them to you, or seek a godly counsellor who can work with you.
THE DILEMMA.
You may be thinking,
“I believe all this;
And nothing has changed… Why?”
Because you feel no change and all the symptoms remain, you conclude that you were not healed after all.
Hey, the reason is;
You have come to the wrong conclusion. Try to see it from the perspective of the ” Finished Work” of Christ.
His work on the cross means that He has forgiven all your sins… and blessed you with Salvation. So you didn’t need to wait for that forgiveness to manifest. The moment you asked Jesus to save you… He did, once and for all. And you believed you were immediately born again… you didn’t wait for some manifestation to prove it happened.
So it is with your healing; it was also completed, finished at the cross… and you do not wait for a manifestation of healing to take place in your body to know it is true. It is finished, never to be repeated. You were healed the moment you believed.
When you prayed and believed by faith… at that moment you “are” and “were” healed. So you confess it with your mouth:” I AM HEALED.”
Isa 53:3.(are healed)
1Peter 2:24 (were healed)
When this hits you, you will, I promise, shout it on the highest hill.
“I have been healed all along, and I didn’t know it.”
This is a very interesting testimony of a man who only had months to live due to an inoperable Tumour on his brain.
He had prayed for healing, and the Tumour remained, but all symptoms disappeared. He was healed the moment people prayed and believed with him. Scans of his brain reveal that the tumour has remained in his brain for 27 years with no bodily symptoms.
So, that means we must place our faith not in what we see or feel but in the Word of God.
1 Peter 2:24
“By His stripes we were healed.”
Listen, God never uses a negative to bring about a positive!
Every good gift comes from Him, and He never changes.
Luke 11:11-13. “Ask, and it shall be given.”
Luke 11:9.
Don’t base your assumption upon other people’s experiences. You hear people say, “God must have wanted her in Heaven, so He took her.”
No, no, no, God “received her”; He did not “take her.” There is a big difference.
“Jesus healed ‘all’ who came to Him.” You must come to Him in faith. He wants to heal you.
The poor Leper cried out to Him, “Are you willing to heal me?” Jesus replied, “I am willing.” Then He healed the man. He wants to heal you!!
Allow me to repeat myself. The moment you prayed and truly believed, healing began in your body.
“If you doubt, James says that you will not receive anything from God.”
The big mistake we make is… We are still aware of our symptoms; we conclude, I still have pain, or the lump is still there, so I am not healed. So we continue owning it, speaking it, and living with it!
You exercise your faith in believing that your prayers are heard and healing is yours.
Faith in Hebrews 11:1 is the “Evidence of things yet not seen.”
We believe ‘before’ there is any evidence of healing in our bodies.
My experience of suffering with chronic pain for an extended period of time with no cure in sight, plus other incurable diseases diagnosed by doctors, made me desperate, and I cried out to God.
I kept pleading with God to heal me, and when I felt no change, I would continue to cry out in tears for Him to heal me. He spoke audibly to me in a really sad voice, twice!
Heather…”I already have.”
I had to repent, change my thinking, and think according to God’s Word. I still have to.
Let us turn to Psalm 103, a prophetic Psalm that looks toward the Finished work of Jesus on the “Cross of Calvary.”
He forgives all our sin.” He heals all our diseases.”
“He keeps us from corruption and destruction.”
“He renews our youth like that of an eagle.”
All that was fulfilled at the cross. Let me remind you what Rapha means. “I Am the God who heals”
It means something so wonderful,
“I am God who stitches actively together, piece by piece. It means to cure and make whole. Close your eyes now and imagine this…
This is what Rapha God is saying to you now. “I am reaching into the torn places of your life, in your wounded spirit, soul and body, one careful stitch at a time. Every nerve, fibre, every muscle and ligament. I am knitting together to perfection. Every organ, every system, every bone, joint and marrow and in every new cell, from the top of your head to the tip of your toe.
Now, in your mind’s eye, with your sanctified imagination, see that Rapha has bound you with a supernatural bandage to hold your healing in place, so no demon in Hell can tear it apart. Hallelujah!
Do you know that your body produces 330 billion new cells each day? That translates to…3.8 million every second!
Did you know that there are 1 billion cells in a single drop of blood?
You can have a healthy immune system. That means the Lord designed the body to rejuvenate itself every 7 years.
Hey, it’s not too late to give up junk food!
Start now, start today. Jesus is the Word as depicted in the Gospel of John. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD.”
This ties in beautifully with Psalm 107:27:
“He sent His Word, and He healed them, and kept them from destruction.” Jesus is the Word incarnate.
Once you have prayed for healing, you need to believe, from that moment, that you are in the process of being healed despite your symptoms and, by faith, declare your healing not by how you feel, but by the Word of God. By the Finished work of Jesus and his blood shed for you on that cross.
Continue to come against Demon powers that will cause you to doubt. Keep praising and worshipping God, giving thanks in Jesus’ Name.
DON’T GIVE UP!!
If you regress and look at your symptoms as a sign that you are not healed, then you will remain sick.
Now actively release all Dr’s reports and diagnoses. Let go of men’s opinions and declare God’s Word…
“I AM HEALED BY HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD SHED ON CALVARY.”
“His resurrection power is giving “life” to my mortal body.”
“I AM TOTALLY WHOLE in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.”
PRAYING IS RECEIVING! BELIEVING IS HAVING!
“As a man thinks in his heart so he is.”
Remember that you become what you think. Those destructive negative thoughts will take root in your body, and your body will respond. Your brain will set up a Neurological pathway, and those negative thoughts will become a permanent fixture in your body.
A TRUE AND TRAGIC STORY PROVES THIS STATEMENT.
A man I met once used to enjoy teasing his wife. He would pretend to have a heart attack while he was behind the wheel of his car. He would moan and then slump forward onto the steering wheel and pretend he was in chronic pain. His wife would panic, grab the steering wheel, and stamp on the brakes to stop the car. Then he would burst into laughter and say to the utterly distressed woman. “Just joking.”
A very cruel joke, don’t you think? He kept scaring her this way. One day, it actually happened: he died of a heart attack while driving!!
Let’s be careful what we speak over ourselves and others.
“As a man thinks, so is he.” He becomes what he thinks.
This is a common saying, spoken today. “I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.”
Dangerous words indeed!! Don’t own your disease by calling it, “My Arthritis.”
What did Jesus do at the cross? He “bore” our sicknesses. That means … He “transferred” it from your body to His own body over 2,000 years ago. He took it from you! It’s no longer “your” illness! So don’t own it!
The FACT… is, you have been diagnosed with Cancer… The TRUTH IS…Jesus “is” and “has” healed you. “In Christ, you are a new creation.”
Old things have passed away; behold…
“All things have become new.” 2nd Corinthians 5:17.
So you confess, declare with your mouth as an infallible truth, “I am healed”, and continue to speak it into being.
“Let the redeemed of the Lord “say so!” Psalm 104:7.
Why? Because “There is life in the Word.” Because you are redeemed, there is no sickness in your body. You argue…
“But I still feel sick; wouldn’t I be lying?”
No, you are making a statement of faith. You are not lying; you are prophesying God’s truth.
His Word is active in your body. It never returns empty or void of accomplishing its divine purpose.
Visualise yourself active and strong, not in a wheelchair, not in bed all day long, or ending up in a nursing home waiting to die.
Use your born-again imagination for good and not for evil. God reads the imagination of men’s hearts.
See Genesis 6:5 God perceives the thoughts and intents of the heart. He sees the mental images in each person’s mind long before it happens.
Your deepest motives are transparent to the Creator. In this case, mental visualisations of hope help you process spiritual truths and Divine promises in preparation for your healing.
Let’s do a little exercise now… You can do it each day.
1. Lay your hands on the area that needs healing.
2.Inhale a deep relaxing breath, hold and say to God. “You are Rapha my Healer.”
3. “Lord, I repent of all worry, fear, and unbelief, and I claim the Finished work of Jesus in my body.”
4. I forgive and release everyone who has wronged me. I let go of all offence that I have held in my heart against them.”
5. “I break every curse and bond of iniquity in my life in Jesus’ Name. “
“I curse all foriegn growths and lumps “You must die in Jesus Name.”
6. “By the power and authority given me in Jesus mighty Name I command all oppressing spirits of infirmity to leave me now and never return.”
“Go in Jesus’ Name.”
“I break every curse spoken over me by myself and others who have spoken evil about me.”
7. “I believe and receive your healing taking place in my body now as I pray.”
8. Take a few more deep breaths and picture Him healing everything wrong with you.
9. Now give thanks for Him restoring and healing you. (Whether you feel it or not)
10. Ask the Lord, “Holy Spirit, make me strong in my resolve to walk in your completed work in my body.”
11. “I praise you, Lord, that I am completely and perfectly whole.”
“Every system, every organ, every nerve, every fibre, every cell is transformed into Your image, renewing, restoring my body, soul and spirit.”
“I am a NEW CREATION!”
“I thank you that you have heard my prayer.”
Re- programme your mind according to as many scriptures on healing as you can.
Now say,
“ACCORDING TO GOD’S WORD…
I AM HEALED!!!”
