8. THE BOOK OF MARK.

HOW TO LEAD A PERSON TO CHRIST.

You may already desire to lead people to Jesus, but you are unsure how to go about it.

Today you can learn what to do.

Here is how.

There are many ways to approach the subject practically.

By asking a direct question. ie, “If you died today (I hope you don’t), would you know for sure that you would go to Heaven?” Or..

“Do you have a church that you attend?”  Or..

You can share the Gospel from their point of need. I.e. Jesus as their friend. Jesus is their hope for the future, Jesus as their Healer, Comforter, and Strengthener,

Or some other approaches…

The state of this sin sick world world.

The second coming of Christ who could return at any time. But, Fear not!

The Holy Spirit will lead you how to open the subject. I don’t plan what I will say, but He leads me every time.

Memorize some scriptures that you can use to help them to understand the message of Salvation. If your memory is poor then use one verse and go from there ie…

Memorize this Gospel verse.

John 3:16.

You can use your Bible if that’s easier.

Isaiah 53:5 “But He was wounded” etc.

The verses in this whole chapter are excellent to enlighten the Jew that Jesus is their Messiah.

THE METHOD.

1. We are all sinners. How sin entered into this world (Adam and Eve). Romans 3:23. “ALL HAVE SINNED.”

Sin passed on to all men. We were born sinners and need a Saviour.

Psalm 51:5

“IN SIN MY MOTHER CONCEIVED ME.”

2. The Punishment for sin is Eternal Separation from God in Hell. And the total isolation from any other person you may know, plus the torment of hellfire that is never extinguished. This is called the second death. (Spiritual death)

3.The remedy for sin is Jesus Christ the sinless Son of God who paid the price for sin.

“God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself.”

2nd Corinthians 11:15.

“The payment for sin is death, but the free gift  of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23.

He shed His blood for the cleansing away of our sins. He died so that we may truly live. 1 Peter 2:24.

“He bore our sins in His own body on the tree (cross), that we, being dead because of sin, should live unto righteousness, by whose stripes (wounds that ripped His body to shreds). WE WERE HEALED!!”

NOW MAKE IT PERSONAL.             Share your testimony of how you were saved. Keep it Sharp, Short and Simple!

EXPLAIN.

This is not a religion but a personal relationship with God through Jesus.

BRING IT HOME.

“What about you?”

“Are you a sinner?”

“Do you believe that Jesus wants to save you?”

Would you like me to pray for you? This is where you bow your head a close your eyes and thank God for them and ask Him to open their hearts to receive Him.

Now, invite them to repeat the prayer of Salvation after you.

Encourage them to pray verbally or in their hearts to invite receive Jesus into their lives.

You can quote or read Romans 10:9-13.

“WHOEVER CALLS UON THE NAME OF JESUS…

(They may want to pray silently  in their hearts).

SHALL BE SAVED!”

OFFER ASSURANCE OF THEIR SALVATION.

Assure them,

“The moment you prayed this prayer Jesus Christ saved you.”

Offer to meet with them  at a another time.

Offer to meet or drive them to church. as going to Church can be daunting.

A Spirit filled Church.

Obtain an easy-to-understand Bible for them to read.

Offer to sit with them at church so you can introduce them to the Pastor.

Please encourage them to share their newfound faith with a friend. This cements the decision in their hearts.

This method is how I share the Salvation message and many have come to Christ. It is adaptable according to the person’s age, their intellectual capacity, their concentration level.

They may need to ask questions, answer them patiently and succinctly. If you do not know the appropriate answer, tell them that you will find out the answer and get back to them.

Stay on the subject as some people will ask questions to avoid making a decision.

Dear reader, God has people you can reach that I cannot touch.

If you are a shut-in, pray that God will send them to your door.

You can share the Gospel through the media, texting, and by sending tracts through the post.  Anointed music is a great way to share the Gospel.

MY EXPERIENCE…YET NOT I.

IT IS GOD AT WORK IN AND THROUGH ME!

Complete Strangers.

A lady waiting for a bus  on the verge of suicide came to Christ. I gave her my mother’s Bible.

Mum’s Mini Bible.

A man beside me on a flight from USA to AUSTRALIA. He was very resistant at first. The Lord opened his heart and hours later he came to the Lord  in tears just as we were touching down at Mascot. He told me that his sister had been praying for him for thirty years! Praise God.

On the community bus : drivers and old people have decided to follow Jesus. One lady received the Lord and two weeks later was in the presence of God.

Community bus on the highway to Heaven!

Taxi Drivers, Patients in Hospitals. Nursing homes.

Door knocking in my local area.

Maintenance men.

People in Shopping Mauls. Coffee shops.

Coffee shop owned by a Christian.

Shop assistants.

Check-out chicks.

At Funerals.

With Neighbours.

With friends and family.

With drug addicts.

To Homosexuals.

Drs, Chiropractors.

While teaching Scripture… One time, the whole class gave their hearts to the Lord. That is what I call revival!  Hallelujah!

And “whoever” God sends across my path.

Can you imagine what it will be like when you go to Heaven and discover people there because you took the time to share the Gospel?

IF I CAN DO IT… SO CAN YOU!!

WHY DON’T YOU START TODAY?

All honour and Glory be to The Father, through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, who does all things well.

Amen.

Prayer of salvation.

Father I come to you in the Name of Jesus. I am a sinner and in need of Salvation. I believe that you died for me and rose again from the dead.

I now invite you to save me from sin and live your life in and through me. Holy Spirit  fill and baptize me in your presence.

THANK YOU FOR SAVING MY SOUL.THANKYOU FOR MAKING ME WHOLE. THANKYOU FOR GIVING TO ME. YOUR  SALVATION SO RICH AND SO FREE.

Amen.

7.THE BOOK OF MARK.

SPEAKING IN TONGUES.

A Holy Experience!

PRAYING IN TONGUES.

1. Praying in tongues brings forth the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Read Romans chapter 8:26. Amplified Version.

This verse tells you to pray in the Spirit (tongues) during times of weakness. You may be so stressed that you can’t find the Words in English to express to the Lord how you feel.

The Holy Spirit will come to your aid and strengthen you, and He will pray to the Father for you with yearning and groanings too deep for utterance.

He will answer your prayers through Scriptures or directly into your mind. He will comfort you in your sorrow and teach you what to say and do in that time of trauma.

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS YOUR COMFORTER.

Read John chapter

16: 2.

He will lead you to pray for others that need His Grace and make known to you what is happening.

2, Praying in Tongues brings forth fresh revelation of God’s plans for your future, for your life.

See 1 Corinthians chapter 4:2.

You do not speak to men but to God to guide you, because  no one can catch or understand His meaning, because in the Holy Spirit you utter truths and hidden things that are not obvious to your understanding.”

We are so quick to run to men for guidance instead of asking the Holy Spirit for His wisdom. You must not bypass God or His Word to find instructions or insight into your problem. We can do this by daily consistent prayer in the Holy Spirit. You then begin to catch His understanding of the deep things of God.

Jeremiah chapter 33:3.

Call unto me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things that you do not know.

Here in John is a wonderful promise for you to claim and live.

John chapter 16: 12-14.

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth.

HE IS TRUTH, SO IS JESUS THE TRUTH!

Satan will lie to you directly, or through other well-meaning,  uninformed Christians. Your feelings can also lead you astray.

I am still learning this myself. It’s so easy to text or phone someone for help before praying first.

So, you pray in tongues because the answers from physical agents are often incorrect.

But the Holy Spirit will through your spirit and into your mind lead you into “all truth.”

Paul prayed that … “The God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the God of Glory that He may grant you the Spirit of Wisdom and revelation into the deep knowledge of Him, that He will grant unto you  a spirit of wisdom to make His will known to you. He will fill your eyes of your heart so you can know the hope to which he has called you.

YOU ARE GRACED WITH WISDOM TO MAKE GODLY CHOICE’S.

That has to be of God!

3. PRAYING IN TONGUES EDIFIES YOU.

That means the Holy Spirit builds you up from within. You, in turn, build up the faith in others.

Building up yourself an others in the faith.

1 Corinthians chapter  14:4.

He strengthens, encourages, activates, stirs you up with power and authority. He leads people to Christ through you. He heals the sick and raises the dead. He gives you the boldness to preach the Gospel and cast out demons.

Not only that, the Holy Spirit will improve your memory so you can easily recall the scriptures. John 14:26 He does so much more.

Friends, the promise of the Holy Spirit is for you, your children and grandchildren. To all that call upon the Name of the Lord Acts 2: 39.

Oh, that you will receive the baptism  Holy Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:14.

Speaking in another language, the oracles of God.

HAVE YOU BEEN BLESSED with this yet another free gift? It is yours for the asking!

Amen.

“BLESS THE LORD OH MY SOUL” Psalm 103:1.

6.THE BOOK OF MARK.

SIGNS AND WONDERS,

-WILL FOLLOW THOSE WHO BELIEVE.

Through you the believer.

Last time in our mini-Bible study, we discussed how God uses people to spread the Good News of the Gospel.

We looked at the role of Evangelist and the Soul Winner and concluded that both are the same though having different titles.

Both have a burden and a passion to win souls.

Both are willing to make this a priority and will cast aside other desires to accomplish this end.

The Evangelist goes a step further than the Soul Winner and accomplishes this by doing it in a full time capacity. Whereas the soul winner may be employed in a secular job and works within those confines.

The Evangelist reaches crowds of people for Christ.

The Soul Winner tends to reach people in small groups and works on a one-on- one basis.

Both are gifted by the Holy Spirit and both are faithful to their calling. One is not more important than the other.

Today, we look particularly at verse seventeen, where it is prophesied that as the ”believer” you will see excellent signs and miracles that confirm the Gospel.

You, just an ordinary believer without credentials or letters after your name, can be used by God to perform miracles, signs and wonders in the Name of Jesus.

You believe that Jesus is active within you.

You are ‘Christ’ to the sick, the tormented and those who need salvation.

Salvation in Greek is interpreted as … “SOZO”meaning

SAVED, DELIVERED, HEALED AND PROSPERED.

It means that Jesus rescued us from the grip of Satan, who is out to totally destroy our lives. All this is a part of setting up God’s Kingdom on this earth.

I am a ‘believer’ and because God told me in this passage that He will do it through me, I have stepped out with fear and trembling (at first) and laid hands on the needy. I have been delighted to see miracles happen. I’m not a healer, nor an exorcist  (a deliverer of demons). I’m ‘little-ol-me’ stepping out into the unknown according to God’s Word by faith, knowing that: “Greater is He that is in me than He that is in the World.”

HE IS THE HEALER THROUGH YOU AND ME!

I am not sure why some people are not healed, but that doesn’t hinder my zeal or dampen my enthusiasm. All I know is God told me to share the Gospel and-

“HE ALSO WILL DO   IT!”

A CLOSER LOOK!

As  a believer (you) shall …

1. Cast out devils.

2. You will speak in languages you never learned.                      (My experience).

3. You shall be safe from the deadly venum of snakes and scorpions. (Paul was unaffected by a snake bite.)

PAUL UNHARMED FROM A DEADLY SNAKE BITE.

4. If you are compelled by your persecutor to drink deadly poison it will not harm you.

You shall lay hands on the sick (in Jesus Name) and they will recover. (Jesus Himself is the true example).

JESUS WILL HEAL THROUGH YOU!

So, as a believer you can through Jesus Christ accomplish all these things. But you have to exercise faith (take a risk). And step out of your comfort zone and do this.

Really, it should be normal Christian behaviour!!

You will feel an unction in your spirit to speak to this one or that one. Forget about yourself and think of that person is destined for Hell if you do not witness about Jesus.

Yes, you will mess up and fail due to nervousness and forget what you wanted  to say. That’s ok, If God used a donkey to speak to Balam he will speak through you.

THE TALKING DONKEY!

He, despite your faults, will honour His Word. Remember, He promised never to leave you or forsake you.

I made all kinds of foibles when I first began to soul win. Now it is easy as having a cup of tea!

If you step out to reach the lost, having a burden for them. He will put them in your face!!

It is a great privilege, and an excellent cure for depression, because you will be filled with joy when someone trusts the Lord.

Let me suggest that you start today. Please find the relevant verses and jot them down. Create your personal handout tract, including the prayer of salvation, and have it printed and hand it out to as many people as possible.

People are more ready to receive Christ today than ever before. Time is short!

The Great Commission is for you. So go out into your world and preach the Gospel, and I promise miracles will happen, and people will be brought out of the darkness into His marvellous light.

Amen.

5.THE  BOOK OF MARK.

THE PARABLES OF JESUS.

In His birth, Jesus changed the world with His incarnation. God became man. His death and resurrection changed eternity, securing a path for others to  enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

JESUS OPENS THE WAY TO GOD.

In his short public ministry, Jesus’s words also transformed humanity, challenging conventional wisdom, demonstrating servant leadership and calling upon His followers to establish a radical love to build God’s Kingdom on earth.

THE GOOD SHEPHERD.

Parables compose a significant share of Jesus’s words captured in the Gospels. He delivered His most memorable lessons through parables—terms such as

“The Good Shepherd.”

and the,

“Prodigal Son.”

have transcended religion and became terms that people of all faiths recognize.

WHAT IS A PARABLE?

According to the dictionary, parables are allegorical stories designed to convey a truth, spiritual principles, or a moral lesson. They are often engaging stories that contain few details, or moral lessons.

Parables have a place in Jewish storytelling. He used elements of daily life to illustrate a more profound message. In modern times Parables are almost associated with Jesus.

WHY DID JESUS USE THEM?

Because Jesus encountered so many different groups of people during His public ministry.

He spent time with His disciples, with Pharisees, with large crowds of strangers who were listening to Him for the first time.

Jesus wanted all men to understand His teachings, so He told stories that could draw in diverse crowds with different points of view.

With Parables, Jesus told stories that revealed the truth about God’s Kingdom while simultaneously challenging the standard worldview of those to whom He spoke.

HE STILL SPEAKS TODAY.

Just as Jesus Spoke to the crowds in His time on earth, He speaks to us today, challenging us to open our hearts to His message.

COMMON THEMES IN PARABLES.

Jesus referenced ordinary things that would resonate with his followers, using everyday concepts to draw in his audience.

He taught lessons to His followers through images of plants, vines, seeds and sowers of them. He shared Parables about family matters, dinner parties and weddings.

WHEAT AND TARES.

Many of the Parables Jesus shared touched on familiar themes, including:

LOVE. 💕

FORGIVENESS.

GOD’S KINGDOM.

I believe they are hugely relevant to you and to me, as all of God’s Word is life-changing. Parables speak differently to each of us in different ways and through various circumstances and at other times.

What are your favourites? (share them with me and the reason why.)

PRAYER.

Pray about everything, giving thanks.

REDEMPTION.

END TIMES.

The Gospels of Matthew and Luke contain the most Parables; no Parables are found in the Gospel of John.

ARE PARABLES RELEVANT TODAY?

PARABLE OF THE SOWER.

ALWAYS SOW INTO GOOD GROUND.

Here are some that stand out as well-known Parables. Jesus.

PARABLE OF THE TALENTS.

PARABLE OF THE PRODIGAL SON.

PARABLE OF THE GOOD SAMARITAN.

THE PARABLE OF THE MUSTARD SEED.

Can you see that they are “Earthly stories with Heavenly meanings?”

As you take the time to read them, pray 🙏 as you read, and you will be surprised by what God reveals to you personally.

Prayer opens your heart ❤️ and mind to perceive what the Holy Spirit reveals just for you.

Always pray, Lord, CHANGE ME!!

Use me to bring,

“GOD’S KINGDOM ON EARTH.”🌎

Amen.

Atep out in Faith.

4.THE BOOK OF MARK.

THE GREAT COMMISSION.

Jesus having fulfilled all Scripture ascended into Glory.

Please read Mark chapter 16:15-20.

A commandment with a promise!

Jesus Christ, after his resurrection and just before His ascension, gave these instructions to his rather apprehensive and fearful disciples. If apprehended came the promises of miracles, signs and wonders.

This commission was not only for the disciples but certainly include us as Christian’s today.

One of our foremost mission as a follower of Christ is to share Jesus in “all that He is” and in “all that He can do” in and through us.

We share Him by how we live our lives and without using our vocal chords. “He is Lord.”

They will know that you’re a Christian by your life.

Our lives will portray His Gospel if we are truly sincere in our love for Him.

Our love for Him will motivate us to share Him with others.

Many believers in our church families do not live life as if they were followers of Jesus and this makes their evangelism superficial and can actually drive people away as they will see the hypocrisy and not want to embrace the Saviour.

A COMMAND!

Sharing the Gospel is  a direct command leaving us the responsibility to obey the Lord and Saviour by sharing Him with the lost.

Paul, the amazing apostle was,

“not ashamed” of the Gospel of Christ as it is the “Power of God unto Salvation.”

NO GO-NO LO!! Obedience to fulfil his command comes with the promise of Power, Presence and His work in and through you.

A FAITH WALK.

As we determine to step out in faith each day to share the Gospel He will be with us until this world comes to an end.

SOUL WINNER OR AN EVANGELIST? Actually they are the one and the same concept, but expressed  with different approaches.

“Soul Winner” as mentioned in Proverbs, “He that wins souls is wise.” Yet always keeping the thought in my mind that He, the Chief soul winner does the winning through me…

DEFINITION OF AN EVANGELIST.             An Evangelist is a preacher who is excited to tell, everyone about Someone who can save Anyone.

They love to travel the world and preach the Gospel in holding enormous crusades in many countries.

Thousands of people gather to hear the Gospel.

Dr Billy Graham is a  good example of a man who gave his total life in order to reach the Gospel. Millions of people came to Christ through his ministry. He believed in the fundamentals of Christianity,

Grace, Faith alone, Christ alone, the Word of God alone and for the glory of God alone.

Dr Billy Graham.

The word Evangelist is (noun) a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Synonyms are,

GOSPELER. GODS-SPELLER, and REVIVALIST.       Though we greatly admire Rev Billy we are also witnesses of Jesus Christ as we communicate the Gospel to those we already have relationship and inter-action.

A Biblical example of this would be the woman at the well who after an interaction with Jesus went into her community telling people what Jesus had done for her.

John 4:28-32.

She becomes the first woman Evangelist.

CHURCH EVANGELISM.

You should be involved in a church who evangelizes through  loving community of Christ followers.

The outsiders are often impressed by your witness and desire to join the Church family and eventually become  Christians.

Read Acts 8:5-8. People will see God is real and at work through His genuine people.

Church should be a place of Joy and happiness, love and care, giving and forgiving. Not a place of condemnation or judgment on how you may dress, act or speak. A place where the full Gospel is preached and people given an opportunity to be saved. A home to nurture, disciple people and love the Word of God. My heart hurts for souls who are lost, the hurting, brocken, grieving, empty and hopeless in this sin sick world. 🌎 People who need the Lord, not a set of rules and regulations.

WHAT IS MINISTRY EVANGELISM?

This is where we reach people who do not know the Gospel and are outside your normal relationships.

This is how you can reach them.

1. Pray that God would meet their deepest needs.

Pray before you say!

2. Help to meet a known need they feel is theirs.

3. Encourage them with by sending texts.

4. Invite them to something that is relaxing and fun, also to a meaningful meeting that will  alllow them room think. A meeting where they can share their opinions with ease.

Inviting a soul to enjoy Christian fellowship at a picnic.

5. Love them to Christ, put your self out to woo them into the arms of Jesus.

EVANGELISM IS A GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

It’s a gift you can ask for and He will surely grant it fully.

I have learned to totally depend on the Holy Spirit to … send the person to me. To work  through me in how I share Jesus.

(It is never the same.) And work in them by convicting and convincing of sin, righteousness, and judgment.

It’s the Holy Spirit that gives me the passion to see people rescued, healed restored and saved from hell and transported into the Kingdom of His dear Son.

You can’t do this in the natural (in your own strength) He brings real life and opens the heart ❤️ to receive Jesus as Lord.

The Word of God changes lives.

THE GREATEST JOY THAT SURPASSES ANY WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE IS TO SEE A SOUL SAVED…HEAVEN REJOICES!!

Angels throw a party over one soul who comes to Christ.

If course you can count on Satan to stop you with all kinds of lies and excuses. In this ministry, fear is his greatest weapon. “The fear of man is a trap.”

Resist him in the name of Jesus. Never give up or give in to anxiety and fear. Be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord as your labour is never vain or wasted in the Lord.

You will have to count the cost of evangelism.

You may face rejection, abandonment, from friends,  and family

You may have to give your very life and those to whom you witness.

Pray for the boldness to, despite opposition, share the Gospel.

“THE RIGHTEOUS ARE  A TREE OF LIFE AND HE THAT WINS SOULS IS WISE.”

Let’s face it dear reader,

THE RESPONSIBILITY FALLS UPON YOU.

So, let’s step out in faith and obedience to the great commission and do it!

The time is short, the laborers are few and I sincerely promise you…

GREAT IS YOUR REWARD IN HEAVEN.”

Amen.

God is interested in one soul at at time.

May his message impact your life and cause you to share the Good News of the Gospel.

What a wonderful piece of art.

I have been led by God to minister in the Dementia ward in our local community hospital. Through a dear friend, I have learned how music can reach the spirit and open the mind to hear and receive the Gospel.

She brought her harp, played and sang Christian music to the residents. As she ministered, the anointing filled the room, and a precious blind lady invited Jesus into her life.

It is never too late, nor are people too sick or too old for God to break through their minds by the power of the Holy Spirit and save souls.

Thank you. H.D.

3. THE BOOK OF MARK.

VALUE OF THE MINISTRY.

JOHN MARK.

PREPARATION FOR THE MINISTRY.

As we have seen and marvel at the genius of Mark how he said much in a few words. It is amazing how much is  said in how little.

Take chapter 1:13, as simply one instance.

HE WAS THERE IN THE WILDERNESS FORTY DAYS, TEMPTED BY SATAN: AND WAS WITH WILD BEASTS; AND THE ANGELS MINISTERED UNTO HIM.

THE WILDERNESS TEMPTATION.

This Gospel is also rich in Spiritual lessons and illustrations. They are everywhere. Turn to Chapter 1 and read verses 9-13. We have been saying that Mark is the Gospel of Jesus as the Servant of Jehovah. The Perfect Servant… Let us not forget that He is a Pattern Servant. The ideal Example of service, which we should follow!

In those first few verses you read, we see the commencement of His ministry. Or, somewhat, the necessary preparation before it.

These verses are a lesson for us not to jump into the ministry of service until God fully prepares us.

We must pray at all times about everything and all decisions and choices that we must make concerning the ministry. Ensure “God” has set you apart for this high and holy calling.

1. A COMPLETE SEPARATION.

Verse 9. Separation from our former life and the things of the world.                              Separation of the ministry centred upon the Word of God into your particular calling.     It means an utter separation “to” God.

THE DISCIPLES LEFT EVERYTHING.

The disciples left their fishing to catch the souls of men. Matthew left his job as a tax collector and followed Jesus. Others left houses and families to join Him.

We may have to sacrifice money, position, reputation, and take up our cross and follow Him.

 2. A POWERFUL ANOINTING.         Verse 10.

At His baptism, Jesus saw the “Heavens opened” He felt the dove land on his shoulder, and that was the Blessed Holy Spirit descending upon him. We must know that Heaven is open to our prayers. That we are endured with “Power from on High.”

Many people enter the ministry with the wrong motive and build churches in the flesh.  Ultimately, everything comes tumbling down:

“As the flesh profits little, but Godliness is of great gain.”

THE ANOINTING OF JESUS FOR HIS MINISTRY.

AN ASSURANCE FROM THE FATHER.                After Jesus’ baptism, the Father confirmed His Sonship.

“You are my Son, whom I love dearly. And God commended His Character, “I am well pleased with you, my dear Son.”

This applies to us. Can God recommend us as people of character and integrity? We need an inward assurance that God is also pleased with us. We must allow the Holy Spirit’s fruit 🍓🍑 to show our character in the handling of difficult people.

TRIED AND TESTED.

Jesus Christ was severely tempted and tried in the Wilderness. God planned this as the Holy Spirit drove Him into the desert.

The temptation was “of Satan.” Strange as it seems, even the most Godly, separated, Spirit-Anointed, Heaven-attested man or woman of God must undergo severe testing to settle whether he will go “only” and “utterly” GOD’S WAY not MAN’S.

Ministry or not, we all must do everything to the Glory of God. It takes complete surrender to His will and a total yieldedness to Him.

All this may scare you and make you unwilling to pursue your calling. Don’t give up; know that,

“He is with you always, even unto the end of the age.” “He will not fail you or forsake you.”

As for the Gospel of Mark, keep exploring. There are hidden treasures yet to be discovered.

Amen.

AFTER A CROSS COMES A CROWN.

Blessings upon those who are faithful followers  of this outreach ministry. Thankyou.

2. THE BOOK OF MARK.

THE UTTERMOST PURPOSE.

Mark’s Gospel.

We only need to read the book of Mark two or three times, and his uppermost purpose will capture us. He wants us to see Jesus at work. It is as though he says:  “Look! What Jesus did proves what He was.”

The Healing Hands of Jesus.

What He taught is what He wraught.

His works demonstrate the Lord’s words; watch and marvel at His supernatural miracles. I’m sure they will convince you.

In the book of Mark, there is no genealogy as in Mathew, no introduction preceding the birth of Jesus.

Right away, we are at the Jordan to hear John the Baptist announce, “One mightier.” is at hand. Jesus then began His miracle ministry.

Whereas Mathew took eight chapters to reach this point, Mark sums it all up in one chapter.

Mark’s writing is not skimpy, rather it is alive with vivid detail. He focuses on what Jesus ‘did’ and omits what He ‘said.’ This is why this gospel is the shortest of all four.

Yes, Mark’s gospel is certainly what Jesus did. Another example is that of the preaching of the Kingdom. Matthew the Kingdom is mentioned fifty times, yet in Mark, it is on His lips only fourteen times.

This observation shows us that Mark the evangelist intended us to marvel at Jesus’ “mighty works.”

Mark, the spiritual cameraman, was giving us shots of unforgettable scenes. He took shot after shot of breathtaking marvels. In this gospel, one mighty work follows another, so we will with the multitude exclaim …

“SURELY THIS WAS THE SON OF GOD!”

LOOK AND SEE!

MARK- “Jesus Christ, the SON OF GOD” Verse 1.

Look through the earlier chapters of these books of the Bible and you will see how they introduce the Coming One.

ISAIAH – “Prepare you the way of “THE LORD ” Verse 3.

JOHN –  Here comes “ONE MIGHTIER” Verse 7.

GOD – You are my “BELOVED SON.” Verse 11.

Jesus heals a Paralytic man.

GET UP – TAKE UP – AND WALK!

A demon was cast by the power and authority of Jesus Verse 26.

LIGHT CASTS OUT DARKNESS.

No sickness or disease was  beyond His Mighty Power.

Jesus heals a woman sick with a fever.

At once, His public ministry begins. Straight away, we have a rapid series of astounding works…we call them miracles!

Crowds of invalids cured at the door! Verse 34.

A leper cleansed by the wayside Verse 42.

LEPROSY IS NOT INCURABLE WHEN JESUS HEALS!

All this is in chapter one. The words “straightway”  and “immediately” are everywhere. The people are “astonished “ at His doctrine and are “amazed”  at His “authority. ”         His “fame” spread throughout the community.

On the very heels of all this, chapter two brings a quick succession of hostile criticisms.

THE“This man speaks blasphemy; who can forgive sins but God only? “

THE PHARISEES – “How come He eats and drinks  with publicans and sinners?”

JOHN’S DISCIPLES – “Why don’t your disciples fast as we and the Pharisees do?”

Yet Jesus is in complete control and answers each criticism succinctly.

Please read the entire book of Mark!

If I could twist your arm to make you read your Bible, I certainly would. But you have to “want too”  For instance if you only read a few isolated paragraphs or a chapter here and there you miss being carried along in the glowing, vivid experience, the aliveness of the story.

Even a slow reader can travel through Mark in about two hours.

You and I should set apart a time each day without fail and read far more than just your favourite devotional book.

See this book as a sacred novel, all the more extraordinary because it is not fiction …

IT IS TRUTH!!

Amen.

JESUS WANTS TO HEAL YOU!

Psalm 103. “HE FORGIVES OUR INIQUITIES AND HEALS ALL OUR DISEASES.”

This week two more people have come to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour. We, with the Angels rejoice!!

6. THE BOOK OF MATTHEW.

THE TRUE FOLLOWER OF JESUS.

Matthew is totally changed after his encounter with Jesus.

This is an image of Matthew, the tax collector. Jesus the Anointed One invited Matthew to follow Him. Mathew became a ‘faithful follower of Jesus.’

Some of you know about Jesus but ‘do not’ have a relationship with Him.

Some of you may know Him personally but ‘do not’ follow Him.

What does it mean to be a follower of our Lord Jesus?

There is so much more than being acquainted with Him. We attend church and do the same things as the average Christian in the West would do, and we feel satisfied.

Yet in the Middle East becoming a Christian takes great sacrifice, such as the loss of family, friends, employment, houses and land. The reward is great for those who suffer for the Name of Jesus.

You will lose friends.

“There is utter humiliation, persecution, imprisonment, punishment, and torture … even resulting in death.”

Being a follower entails so much more than a once-a-week visit to church to see your friends.  It is so much more! Many people attend church when the weather is pleasant, or when is is convenient.

Going to church is not an option, it is a normal occurrence of a Committed Christian.

Jesus confirmed this by saying,

“If anyone will be my disciple. He must ‘deny himself & and take up his cross daily and follow me.”

The cross of dying to self.

Being a follower of your Saviour means to Crucify your actions and attitudes. Your hopes, dreams and desires. Also ungodly alliances and relationships.

Make Jesus your focus, then love and worship Him as LORD, KING, of your life. He becomes ‘first in everything!’                                         We must stop running to people for help and come to Jesus first and foremost. It is only faith through Jesus’ Name that the Father hears and answers prayer. 🙏

It is an obedience to follow Jesus, not when it is convenient.

“FAITH IS THE KEY THAT OPENS THE DOOR. USE THAT KEY TODAY. HE’LL POUR OUT A BLESSING ON YOU, SEE WHAT GOD CAN DO FOR YOU, SEE WHAT GOD CAN DO.”

A nominal Christian will not believe or receive the promises of God.

A follower will by faith see the answer before he prays and will without doubt believe that :

“FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR AND THE EVIDENCE  OF THINGS NOT SEEN AS YET.” Hebrews 11:1

A follower believes before he sees.  He is faith filled!

The nominal Christian believes when he sees it come into being.

Yet a hot Christian will dare to die for his Lord and Master Jesus Christ.

A lukewarm Christian won’t share his faith and wavers under persecution.

A slack Christian will not witness for their Saviour, nor would they dare to mention His Name in the Market place, or at Work and sadly to say they never tell a soul that they are a Christian. Maybe they are not Christians at all !!

Did you know that the word for “WITNESS” is translated as “MARTYR”  in the Aramaic writing.

Dearest Christian, how do you rate your status as a child of God.

Are you a …

‘May” Know Him Christian?                                                    An…             ‘Acquainted” with Him Christian?

A … ‘Nominal” Christian?

A … “Lukewarm” Christian?

Or a “Slack” Christian?

                Or…

Are you a ”FOLLOWER” of Jesus?

Are you a “HOT CHRISTIAN? That is…

On ‘FIRE’ for the sake of the Gospel of Christ Christian?

Would you be willing to ”DIE” for your faith!

If so, you will receive a Martyr’s crown of life!!

Let’s bow our heads before Him now and repent of our backsliding, lukewarm attitude and reconcecrate ourselves to Him as LORD and Saviour.

Then He will not spew us out of His mouth as He said in the book of Revelation.

Rather, He will welcome us with all the saints in glory with exceeding joy.

Then we will hear,

“WELL DONE YOU GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT. COME, ENTER INTO THE  JOY OF THE LORD.”

“I WILL FOLLOW HIM!”

Amen.

4. THE BOOK OF MATTHEW.

JOHN CAST INTO PRISON.

Matthew marks the beginning of the Galilean ministry:

Now, when Jesus had heard that John was cast into Prison, He departed into Galilee.”

JOHN IN PRISON.

Matthew chapter 4:12.

The original plan was to go directly to Jerusalem, but circumstances hindered Jesus, so he made a detour into Galilee.

GALILEE.

THE MINISTRY IN GALILEE.

Matthews’s writing is a perfect preparation for the following three gospels because he presents a meaningful grouping of our Lord’s doings and sayings.

Then His teachings.

Then His miracles.

Next, in chapters 11 to 18, he groups the various reactions to our Lord and his ministry, accompanied by his counter-reactions and His Wisdom.

So we learn what Jesus Taught: What Jesus Wrought and what people Thought, and that is the order Matthew follows.

THE SERMON ON THE MOUNTAIN.

JESUS PREACHING THE WORD OF GOD.

There a ten parts of the sermon on the mount.

  1. THE BEATTITUDES.
  2. MORAL STANDARDS.

  3. RELIGIOUS MOTIVES

  4. THE WORSHIP OF MONEY.

  5. WORRY AND ANXIETY.

  6. SOCIAL DISCERNMENT.

  7. PRAYER AND ENCOURAGEMENT

  8. HOW YOU SHOULD FULFIL SCRIPTURE

  9. THE BROAD AND NARROW WAY.

  10. THE FINAL WARNING.

JESUS’ MIRACLES.

Jesus healed each and every sickness. He passed His miracle-working power on to His disciples so they could, with joy, reveal the Kingdom of God. Read chapters…

8-10.

The first three miracles were the healing of functional physical diseases that afflict the whole body, i.e. in other spheres, Leprosy, Palsy, and Fever.

The next three show the Lord’s power in other different spheres.

In the natural realm ( The stilling of the storm.)                                               Then in the spiritual realm (the casting out demons.)

JESUS CALMS THE STORM.

In the moral realm. ( “your sins are forgiven you”)

The final four miracles  concern local and organic ailments of the body i.e.  bleeding, blindness dumbness and deafness.

And the crowning power- display of raising the dead!! Jesus raised the widow’s son in Nain.

BROUGHT BACK FROM DEATH.

The effect of these healings produced a great response in  the  crowds: “I will  follow you wherever you may go.” The multitude  “marvelled  and glorified God.” They, astonished, said, “It has never been seen, no, not in Israel.”

Does Jesus still heal today? Oh yes, HE ‘DOES’ HEAL TODAY.’

“HE IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER.”

I have seen it with my eyes, heard it with my ears and have experienced it in my body.

Every healing happens in many different ways.

1.Through one supernatural touch directly from God.

2.Through the natural process of our own miraculous body designed by God to heal itself.

3.Through special diets created for your particular needs. Remember the saying, “Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food.”

4. Through medication and  herbs.

5.Through a practitioner such as  a … Surgeon,

Chiropractor,

Physiotherapist and                      Psychologist.

THROUGH PRAYER AND FASTING.

THE LAYING ON OF HANDS, BY FAITH  IN CLAIMING THE PROMISES OF GOD BY HIS INFALLIBLE WORD.

Through ANGELIC VISITATION.

By listening to Christian  music as you worship.

There are many other ways. Keep in your mind that God is the source of all healing no matter how it happens.

ALWAYS GIVE HIM THE GLORY, AND YOU MUST DO YOUR PART IN CARING FOR YOUR BODY AND AVOID ANYTHING THAT WOULD HARM IT.

(that is another subject. For another time.)

A  healing prayer you can pray.

“Lord Jesus, I can’t do a thing without You; I am hopeless and helpless in this sin-sick world. Firstly, I am coming to you for Salvation. Please save me from sin, sickness, grief and shame.   Please break all addiction off my life and grant me the power to say No!!

Thank you for bearing my sin and sickness on the cross, and I believe your Word is absolute TRUTH! Thankfully  that according to your Word I am already healed by the wounds of Jesus.

1 Peter 2:24. Help me to believe it and live it. This I ask in the Name of Jesus, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Amen.

“I AM HEALED IN THE NAME OF JESUS!!!”
It is my prayer that you also dear reader May experience a Divine touch from the LORD OF GLORY.          I am believing with you.

Sometimes healing takes time; it is not always instant. Remember, recovery takes time.

Don’t dwell on the symptoms; focus on the Word of God, and it will happen.

Amen.

GOD’S ARTISTIC FLARE!

3. THE BOOK OF MATTHEW.

THE LIFE OF THE MESSIAH.

This masterpiece of writing is the combined genius of human intervention and Divine inspiration.

The first thing that I suggest is, that you read the book of Matthew through from beginning to the end over a week or so. Then read the passages we mention simultaneously. If you find a verse that speaks to you personally, write it out, put it on your fridge and memorise it over the period of time we are taking to discuss the gospel of Matthew.

THE OPENING GENEALOGY.

JESUS’S FAMILY LINE.

Matthew had in his mind that the coming Messiah would be born in a particular family. He started with Abraham, the Father of the Jewish nation, and then showed the descent through  David, the head of Judah’s covenant-promised royal  line, which ran the covenant promise of the coming  Messiah King.

Matthew proved that Jesus was truly the Son of Abraham and Heir of David. That is what he did.

There are fourteen generations from David to the carrying away of the Jews to Babylon.

THE EXILE.

Then from the Babylonian exile to Christ there are Fourteen generations. This is something very interesting you may not know. For instance there are 60 generations from Adam to Christ and this goes in six tens … each tenth man is notably significant.

The first tenth man is NOAH. God’s judgement came upon man by the flood. But the line is preserved through righteous NOAH.

The second tenth is… ABRAHAM. God gave him the Covenant of promise.

The third tenth is BOAZ. He married the beautiful Moabitess name Ruth.

The fourth tenth is UZZIAH. The Messianic line is now the royal line of Judah and the coming of,

CHRIST WHO IS TO BECOME – “THE KING OF KINGS.”

AND,THE LORD OF LORDS!

The sixth tenth man is,

ZERUBABAL: He is a type of Christ.

Then, the final tenth man of significance is JOSEPH, the husband of MARY, of whom was born  JESUS, who is called :

“CHRIST the MESSIAH”

So, each tenth man is typical,  prophetic, anticipative:  Christ fulfils all in all.

What a privilege it is for us to be living in these times, in the age of grace. Where Jesus fulfilled the law and the hope of the gospel (good news) is easily accessible for us to believe and receive all that Jesus accomplished.

Yet, what responsibility is ours to share the good news with those lost and hopeless in this world of sin?

The harvest is great, and the labourers are few. Make it your goal  to win one, who will teach one, to win one, until “all” men come to repentance. Amen !

ASK GOD TO FORGIVE YOU AND COME INTO YOUR LIFE TO CHANGE YOU.

Amen.
