1. THE BOOK OF COLOSSIANS.

GNOSTICISM.

Epaphras founded the Church at Colossi, Paul wrote this letter to them due to the infestation of the error of Gnosticism.

THE ERROR OF GNOSTICISM.

Usually, my Mini Bible studies are more practical and devotional coupled with evangelism and encouragement.

However, in this letter of Paul to the church at Colossi, the first three chapters are Theological, addressing the erroneous doctrine of Gnosticism.

So today, we will examine this view, which permeated the Colossian Church and still exists today, particularly in the Masonic Church and the Scientology religion.

This belief was influencing new believers away from the simplicity of Salvation by Grace alone by adding special knowledge by Philosophers of that time. Instead of believing that Salvation in Christ was the only way to God, they concentrated on “the origin of evil.”

They believed in one supreme God, who is the God of light and life, but the story of Creation found in the Bible was a lie. God was “not” the one who was responsible for creating the world because the world 🌎 was full of evil and corruption, making it impossible for a “Good God” to create it! So they invented another creator—an evil creator who created a flawed world. Already, we see error, as scripture tells us.

“THE LORD SPOKE AND THE WORLDS WERE FRAMED.”

Yes, He spoke,

“LET THERE BE.”

Light, darkness, oceans, animals and people. And it was so!

God is the Creator of all that exists!

But??

The Gnostic belief explained why mankind suffered so much evil. They taught that man had a spark within himself to recognise evil, but that spark was extinguished by evil. To reignite this spark, man must bring it to life again by his own Will and  Strength.

To the Gnostic, Jesus is the Messenger of light… but “not” Salvation. Men would have to save themselves by sacrifices of the flesh to make themselves worthy to be saved.

MARTIN LUTHER, THE REFORMIST.

(Martin Luther, the Priest and theologian of the 16th Century, was a good example of this influence. He believed that the body needed to be purified from all its evil passions before it would be acceptable to receive Salvation.

This included much fasting and self-flagellation (flogging oneself as a religious discipline.) Instead of realising that Christ took our punishment, Luther punished himself, not only physically but emotionally and mentally to obtain Salvation.

Later, after studying the book of  Romans,  he discovered that Salvation was by Grace alone.

He changed the course of Christianity forever.

Gonosicism taught that secular work was not as important as being a missionary, an evangelist, a Pastor, or a Priest. This is not true because…

“IF ANY MAN IS IN CHRIST, HE IS A NEW CREATION; OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY, AND BEHOLD, ALL THINGS HAVE BECOME NEW.” (The total person.)

The new believers in Paul’s Church were literally beating themselves into submission to the point of not allowing themselves any enjoyment of bodily pleasures.

Legalistic doctrines alive in some Churches today have their roots in Gnosticism. People are bound by men’s interpretation of what is good or right instead of experiencing the freedom that is ours in Christ.

But the Spirit, Soul and Body are of equal importance to God.    God is interested in your total being, not just a part of you. Praise  God, we are given an incorruptible body when Jesus returns.

So, as Paul beseeches us,

“WHATEVER YOU EAT OR DRINK, OR WHATEVER YOU DO, DO ALL TO THE GLORY OF GOD.”(Including daily living.)

If you would take the time to read this again, slowly and meditate upon what it truly means to be free indeed from the law and enjoy your happy condition in Christ, you may find that you too have been caught up in Gnosticism, thereby condemning yourself and others for not living up to these legalistic standards and the wrong expectations of men.

Maybe you will not so quickly wipe people out of your life because they may not believe as you do and allow God to reveal His Love and Truth to them in His way and time.

HIS COMPASSIONS THEY FAIL NOT…

EVEN IF YOU ARE UNFAITHFUL… HE REMAINS FAITHFUL.

Great is God’s Faithful ness.

Now relax and grasp the truth that ALL THE FULLNESS OF GOD DWELLS IN YOU AND YOU ARE COMPLETELY COMPLETE IN HIM!

I Corinthians 2:9,10.

To sum it up, we need to know the difference between this erroneous teaching which is indeed very cruel and confusing and certainly will not earn Salvation.

This is highly negative thinking and impossible to attain.

Why?

Because Salvation is a FREE GIFT.

Ephesians 2:8,9

“FOR BY GRACE YOU ARE SAVED, NOT OF YOURSELVES, NOT BY WORKS LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST.  IT IS THE … “FREE GIFT” OF GOD, THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.”

Even a little child can be saved.

The positive side of asceticism can actually lead on from  salvation.

Where Paul teaches that we offer our own bodies as a living sacrifice Holy and Acceptable unto God as a reasonable thing to do.

This happens as we allow the Holy Spirit to gently convince us to let go of sinful habits such as the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.

We crucify ourselves in many ways, and by His resurrection power, we exhibit the “Fruit of the Spirit: ” love, Joy, Peace, etc.

He produces His Fruit in you by the Holy Spirit!

This is the “WORKING OUT OF SALVATION.” and “not earning it.”  Allow me to share a song I wrote many years ago:

DIE TO SELF.

“Lord, I die to self each Day, Lord I walk the narrow way. Lord I want You first in all I do and say and take my cross and follow You.

Lord, I yield my selfish Will, to have and hold and with your Spirit fill.

Lord I want You first in all I do and say, and take my cross and follow you.

Then I’ll walk in resurrection power and know Your Joy and Peace that hour. Then you’ll live your life afresh in me. Jesus Christ, the path to victory.”

“LORD, I LOVE 💕 YOU”

Avoid getting caught up in fads that are prevalent in today’s thinking, such as… Food, sleep, the way you dress and all manner of hardships and renunciations that make your life miserable (and those around you).)

Instead, look at the heart view of true Asceticism, which is found in Paul’s letters. It’s not depriving yourself of tea and coffee, food and water.

It is to bear the nine fold fruit 🍓 of the Spirit as mentioned before.                                    LOVE,

JOY,

PEACE,

PATIENCE,

KINDNESS,

GOODNESS,

GENTLENESS and

SELF CONTROL.

That’s what it’s all about: It is harder to be loving, joyful, patient kind and generous, than to fast and skip meals to make yourself in right standing with God or feel closer to Him.

Fasting is not wrong in itself, but you need to be led by the Spirit on how to fast and when to abstain from food.

Jesus said,

“COME UNTO ME, AND LEARN FROM ME, FOR I AM MEEK AND LOWLY OF ❤️ HEART.”

Seek to be like Him and to do the Father’s will in honest humility, then you will feel at rest in your soul, no longer striving for acceptance or validation. Be willing to withhold from the lusts of the flesh as He reveals them to you and walk in the Spirit then you will be more effective in the …               KINGDOM OF GOD.

Amen.

Walk in the Spirit, not in the Flesh.

5. THE BOOK OF PHILIPPIANS.

JOY!!!

JOY, full of Glory!

“THE JOY OF THE LORD IS  YOUR STRENGTH.”

Joy is a profound, enduring sense of happiness and contentment rooted in spiritual realities and faith in God rather than fleeting happiness based on circumstances.

Yes, it is a fruit of the Holy Spirit often associated with God’s presence and His loving favour upon you and can be experienced even amid unexpected trials and tribulations.

REAL JOY IS ROOTED IN FAITH.

Faith gives you meaning and a sense of belonging, purpose and absolute trust in God. Joy stems from trusting in God’s promises and feeling His presence rather than relying on things that happen to you.

A heart that is full of Spiritual joy.

GALATIANS 5:22. “BUT THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS… LOVE, “JOY”, PEACE, etc..

Unlike fleeting happiness, real joy is enduring and can be experienced even in the middle of grief, pain and suffering and hard knocks.

Joy coupled with Faith anticipates that, according to Romans 8:28,29, that…                          “All things will work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purposes and Divine plan.”

Look at Romans 15:13. This verse is soo.. precious .💞

“MAY THE GOD OF HOPE FILL YOU WITH ‘ALL JOY’ AND PEACE IN BELIEVING AS YOU TRUST IN HIM, SO THAT YOU… MAY OVERFLOW WITH HOPE BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.”

Doesn’t that excite you? It does me!

THE FIRST STEP TO EXPERIENCING JOY.

The first step toward eternal joy is your Salvation.

It’s a “Jesus Joy!” Because everyone who knows Jesus as Lord and Saviour has joy in their hearts 🥰 because … they were once headed for eternal damnation (destruction). However since they believed and accepted Jesus’  sacrifice for us He translated them into His Kingdom out of darkness and sealed them with the Holy Spirit for Eternal life.

Colossians 1:3-5. (Please read for your own pleasure.) I don’t know about you, but I feel joy in my soul because I know I am…

“Saved and Secure,” and there are wonderful things ahead of me not only on this earth 🌎 but in Heaven!

THIS IS THE JOY OF OUR SALVATION.

Knowing that you are saved will fill your heart ❤️ with ecstatic joy!

Think about it!!!

You are forgiven and set  free!

You are no longer condemned!

There is no fear of death!

There’s no more guilt and shame!

You are totally whole with  no more sickness and disease!

We will understand the purpose of all our suffering here on this earth!

Romans. 5:1,2.

THEREFORE, BEING JUSTIFIED BY FAITH, WE HAVE PEACE WITH GOD THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, IN WHOM WE “REJOICE” IN THE HOPE OF THE GLORY OF GOD.”

Amen!

You are overjoyed while you wait for that eternal bliss to come in all its fullness, and your heart is ecstatic in believing that if it is not so yet, it will be so.

AN ATTITUDE OF CONTINUOUS JOY IS HEALING TO YOUR BODY AND SOUL.

Proverbs 17:22 tells us some wonderful things about Joy.

“A JOYOUS 💜 HEART IS GOOD MEDICINE, BUT A CRUSHED SPIRIT DRIES UP THE BONES.” (Some causes of Arthritis)

Praise God that the joy that Christ gives us can heal our bodies. You can’t just sit there and wait for joy to flood your soul. It is an act of the will. You choose to rejoice…it involves faith.

I “WILL” JOY IN THE GOD OF MY SALVATION.”

Decide to practice Joy. 😊

It is impossible to have joy and a troubled mind simultaneously. (at the same time)

Knowing that you are saved will give you a calm mind and a joyful life. Because it is independent of adverse circumstances.      You may be in the most troubling circumstances and still possess Joy.

When my husband suddenly died, though it was difficult, I still possessed the hope that I would soon see him again. (As there’s no time in Heaven!)

I could laugh and cry at the same time! I never lost my wacky sense of humour!

Wherever joy abounds you will know, the…

“PEACE OF GOD THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING” Gal 5:22

As a believer you already possess this joy, but like any other inheritance you have in Christ you must stir it up and practice it.

If you’re not conscious of it you will soon fall into despair, self pity and depression.

Sing about it!

“I HAVE JOY, JOY, JOY, DOWN IN MY HEART.

DOWN IN MY HEART, DOWN IN MY HEART,

I HAVE JOY, JOY, JOY, DEEP DOWN IN MY HEART,

GLORY TO HIS NAME”

Memorize Scriptures and quote them to yourself over and over until you believe it.

You don’t need to request Joy, you already have it! It’s been there all the time. You need to use it.                               This joy is the Joy of the Lord. (There are too many bland Christians these days.)

God will give you the power to express it; otherwise, He would not have asked us to… “REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS” if it were not possible.

Call out and ask for it, then live in it.

Forget about what others think of you. REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS!! (Tap picture)

I Thessalonians 5:16

“REJOICE.  EVERMORE.”

How?

PRAY WITHOUT CEASING!

HINDRANCES TO JOY.

1. Unconfessed Sin! Such as bitterness and unforgiveness.

Don’t be stingy with this Joy, it’s contagious and easily caught.  A great way to pass it on is…

Win someone to Christ! Soul winning is an excellent cure for depression!

“THERE’S JOY IN HEAVEN OVER “ONE” LOST SINNER WHO COMES TO CHRIST.”

Hey, the whole of Heaven rejoices over just “one person” who comes to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

(The Angels and all of Heaven’s inhabitants.)

And you as well, the thrill of being used by God to bring that lost sheep into the arms of Jesus—you can’t possibly not rejoice with “Exceeding Joy”

Maybe you want to experience this full Joy, ” Then let Jesus come into your heart. Your sin He’ll wipe away. Your night will turn to day. Your life He’ll make over anew. If you want joy, real joy, Wonderful joy, let Jesus come into your heart.”

A prayer you can pray…

Please pray this Prayer for the joy that awaits you.

“Lord Jesus, I thank you for your sacrifice of Love for me by shedding your blood on the Cross of Calvary. I am a miserable person who has lived in sin and need You to save me and fill me with the joy of believing. Come into my life now and save me. and fill me with your Joyful Spirit.’

4. THE BOOK OF PHILIPPIANS.

CHRIST OUR GOD.

Thomas said, “Show us the Father and we will be satisfied.”

In Christ we have “New Life.

(Please read chapter 2).

And His mind becomes our true mind. This is why we can experience the outworking of our salvation. He shares His Divine Love and future bliss. So in this chapter Christ should be the greatest goal of all of our faith, love and hope.

Paul’s longing and utmost desire is expressed in verse ten of this chapter, chapter 3:10.

“THAT I MAY KNOW HIM.”

This chapter begins with the renunciation of all other things to win Christ. (Stuff)

These things are many, let’s look at some of them.

POPULARITY, FAME, FORTUNE:

We have a deep, innate longing to be well-liked, honoured, noticed, and accepted by those whom we count worthy in our eyes.  But we should “GLORY IN HIM, CHRIST OUR LORD” alone and not in the approval of men.

Never give up on the One who truly loves you.

Now if ever there was a man who had the right to glory in the things of the flesh it was Paul.                    He could actually say, “I have reason to glory in myself but these things fade in significance due to the excellence of knowing Christ.”

Let’s look at them.

                                           1. CIRCUMCISED.        As a newborn baby, he was circumcised on the eighth day according to Jewish law. He was an Israelite by birth.    He was proud that he was a part of the promised Covenant.

2. OF THE STOCK OF ISRAEL.

Paul’s parents were Hebrews so He was of an Israelite descent through and through and he was proud of his unblemished pedigree.

3. OF THE TRIBE OF BENJAMIN.

This tribe gave the first King of Israel, King Saul. This tribe helped the tribe of Levi restore the temple that stood within the Holy City, Jerusalem.

King Saul.

4.  A HEBREW  OF THE HEBREWS.

Though they lived in Tarsis, Paul’s parents adhered to the Hebrew language and customs. Paul was educated in Jerusalem under the famous Gamaliel.

5. AS TOUCHING THE LAW  PAUL WAS A PHARISEE.

By birth an Israelite, by upbringing a Hebrew. By His own choice a Pharisee adhering to the strictest letter of the Law.

6. CONCERNING ZEAL.                       Paul persecuted the Christian Church. He was not satisfied with just being a Pharisee he zealously persecuted all those who were opposed to his convictions and punished them as heretics, especially those who were Christians.

Christians were persecuted under the hand of Paul.

7. TOUCHING RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE LAW.

Paul was blameless in his adherence to all the laws and regulations. He met the last requirement. “Perfect!”

Oh that we as Christians would possess such Zeal for the things of God.

Do you have the zeal to attend church regularly? Or do you allow other things to crowd your life, and you attend when it is convenient?

IF YOU ARE TO BUSY FOR GOD…YOU ARE …

“TOO BUSY”

Always choose to make your Christianity your top priority. Neglecting to read your Bible, Prayer and Worship,  soon you will be like that coal that is taken off the fire … It grows cold and indifferent to the things of God. (It goes out!)

The disciples, after watching Jesus vehemently cleanse the Temple remembered that it was said of Him.

“THE ZEAL FOR THE HOUSE OF THE LORD HAS EATEN HIM UP.”

Stop!! … Now decide that nothing will come between you and your commitment to Christ. He went all the way to the cross, just for you. Yes, it may cost you your friends and your reputation, but in the long term, you will be wonderfully “BLESSED” by God, and it will be worth it all when you stand before Him on that great day of judgment.

With overflowing joy, you will hear those words,

“WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT, ENTER NOW INTO THE JOY OF THE LORD.”

Once he met Jesus on the road to Damascus, Paul counted all things as loss, nothing compared with the Excellency of knowing Christ. Looking back, he said,

“WHAT THINGS WERE GAIN TO ME I COUNTED LOSS FOR CHRIST, BUT NOT ONLY THOSE THINGS… BUT “ALL” THINGS THAT WOULD TAKE THE PLACE OF CHRIST! … SO I MIGHT GAIN CHRIST!!”

He counts them as rubbish, refuse, garbage, dung! unimportant in order to gain Christ.

Never stop sharing Jesus with everyone you meet.

So must we!

Jesus Christ!

Amen.

That is what Christianity is all about.

3. THE BOOK OF PHILIPPIANS.

STRENGTH, WEAKNESS.

Tired and Weary.

Causes of loss of strength.

1. ABUSE.

Physical and Mental abuse over a long period will take a toll on your God-given health and strength.   Continuous corrections and critical comments will make you feel that everything you do is wrong. It will drain you of resilience and strength, making it difficult to believe in yourself and carry on. Especially if the one who corrects you is your husband or wife.

Remember that  Satan is a liar and the accuser of the brethren.

To avoid confrontation, you try to be nice, but inside, they are draining you of mental and emotional energy, and if you can’t sleep due to rehearsing those death words in your mind, insomnia will become a habit, and this will undoubtedly drain you of physical strength.

Some other reasons for Insomnia.

Emotionally, you begin to doubt your self-worth, which robs you of confidence in decision-making. Sometimes, walking away is better than putting up with the continual barrage of negative, accusative talk.

2. A TERMINAL  DIAGNOSIS.

An emotional shock!

This will, of course, drain you of energy, causing weakness. Your mind is willing, but your flesh is weak. You are determined not to let your body rule your mind, but the body won’t allow you to function correctly.

Such diseases as Fibromyalgia, Chronic Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Fatigue, also called CFS, Lupus, Lyme disease, and Parkinson’s disease are all characterised by profound fatigue and sleep disorders.

Then, there are many side effects to drugs that are administered to ease your condition. These can cause you much unnecessary discomfort and fatigue.                 When taking natural remedies we also need to be led by a professional Wholistic Dr, as some natural medication can be as dangerous as chemical drugs.

Ask God to guide you to the proper treatment meant for you. Ask Him for wisdom to ensure you are moving toward good health again. Never give in, never give up.

He will be your Strength if you focus on Him and not on your weakness.

Pain can be turned into strength of mind and strength of mind will control your body.                             Be resilient, and don’t give up believing God’s Word.

Remember there is also the Spiritual aspect, the real cause of your illness just may be a Spirit of infirmity from the pit of Hell.

That is, a Messenger from Satan to destroy you, a demon of Infirmity that, if tolerated, will cause havoc in your life. You must,

“RESIST THE DEVIL AND HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU. DRAW NEAR TO GOD AND HE WILL DRAW NEAR TO YOU” and protect you.

Keep wearing the armour of God, a reminder of what Jesus did for you.

4. GRIEF.

Grief is very real and painful.

The loss of a loved one, be it a sudden death or a terminal slow death, will drain you of strength. The sudden shock of departure without warning will significantly affect your whole Spirit, Soul, and Body. (My darling husband died beside me in bed. Though I experienced God’s peace emotionally, my body’s reaction was the opposite. I couldn’t eat, sleep, or reason. It took time, but with God’s help, I re-adjusted to his death.) Knowing that he is with Jesus brought great comfort.

Nutrition is most important during Times of stress.

REST. EXERCISE, AND WHOLESOME FOOD.

Think of the word

R…Rest!

E…Exercise!

D… Diet!

Avoid Alcohol, Sugar, Nicotine and over-the-counter Drugs.

The trauma of watching your loved one slowly suffer and die can be just as traumatic and devastating for you

Sudden death is also total shock to you and cause similar symptoms.

Yet, you must remember…

“UNDERNEATH AND ROUND ABOUT YOU ARE THE EVERLASTING ARMS.”

The Holy Spirit is called “The Comforter” He is the arms of God’s love enfolded around you bringing soothing relief from all adversity.

5. TRAUMA.

Causes of Trauma.

Any trauma will rob you of strength. The Trauma of Divorce, Injury, Injustice, Bankruptcy, Robbery and Fraud are some other causes of failing strength.

People sometimes, instead of turning to the Lord in these difficult times, revert to Alcohol, Drugs, gambling, hoarding and compulsive behaviour to find comfort. However, these things are temporary band-aids and not a permanent solution.

Trauma can open the door for a demon to enter and cause far more damage than anticipated.

Stay in the Word, hold on to God’s promises, and believe… Just keep talking to God exactly about how you are feeling.

“HIS PLANS ARE GOOD AND NOT EVIL TO GIVE YOU A FUTURE AND A HOPE.”  🙏

Jeremiah 29:11.

6.  GUILT AND SHAME.

GUILT and SHAME.

One of the most potent and devastating forces in this world is shame.

Shame is not only the result of our wrong choices and failures. It can be imposed on us by others, such as Parents, Families, Spouses, even Churches, Pastors, Teachers and so-called friends.

Shame is a destructive emotion that keeps us from our God-given destiny.  Don’t despair, God wants to set you totally free from all guilt and shame. Did you know that Jesus Christ has already taken your shame upon Himself at the cross? So give it to Him!

Psychology, self-improvement, or group therapy may offer temporary relief, but only Divine revelation can bring lasting help. If you hear His voice and follow His plan for your life, you will receive the guidance you need.  It is a freedom that comes from the written Word of God by the power of the Holy Spirit.                       Shame is an internal bleeding… an inner torment, and a soul sickness. You feel weak and empty, with no purpose in living.                          You interrogate yourself and always come up with,

GUILTY AS CHARGED!

Only Christ can set you free from sin and condemnation. Repentance of sin brings Salvation. In Him…  (Jesus Christ)

“THERE IS NOW NO CONDEMNATION TO THOSE IN CHRIST  JESUS.”

Romans 8:1.

He brings peace beyond your understanding and pardon, a peace which leads to freedom and intimacy with God.

“CAST ALL YOUR CARES ON HIM, FOR HE CARES FOR YOU.”

SOME PRACTICAL THINGS YOU CAN DO.

  1. Pray always at all times.
  2. Live a life of obedience.

   3. Be filled with the Holy Spirit.

    4. Remove doubt,  fear and unbelief.

    5. Walk by faith not by sight.

    6. Ask for wisdom.

    7. Completely surrender everything over to God.

     8. Trust Him at all times.

“IF THE SON SHALL MAKE YOU FREE YOU SHALL BE FREE INDEED”

“THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH AND MY SALVATION. WHOM CAN I FEAR, OF WHOM SHALL I BE AFRAID!”🆓

Amen.

You pulled me up out of the miry clay (bog) and set my feet up on the Rock.  ( Yourself)                     Psalm 40:2. 61:1,2.
MY SOLID ROCK!

2. THE BOOK OF PHILIPPIANS.

“WHEN I’M WEAK, HE IS STRONG.”

“HEAL ME, LORD, AND I SHALL BE HEALED.” Jeremiah 17:14.

“I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO GIVES ME STRENGTH.” Phil 4:13.

“All the promises in God in Him(Jesus) are YES! and AMEN (So be it) to the glory of God the Father.”

“When I am weak,    HE IS STRONG.”

” I can do ‘all things’ through Christ who strengthens me.”

Phil 4:13.

We all experience times of utter weakness. Times when we are tempted to give up. Times when nobody seems to care or understand what we are going through.

You may be in the midst of suffering and pain from a prolonged illness, be it mentally or spiritually.

Not well at all!

All you want to do is isolate yourself away from everyone, stay in bed and lock the world out.  You’ve  pleaded with God to heal you, but He seems far away and not interested at  all.

People analyse you and give pat answers as to why you are not healed, they use other people’s experiences to prove that you don’t have enough faith to be healed or why their prayers are not answered.  They  build doctrines around their own thinking and experiences and other people’s failure to be healed.

Or people judge you as harbouring unforgiveness, and seek to find some hidden, unconfessed sin in your heart.

“Watch out that you do not mistake your opinions for Revelation Light.” Luke 11:37b.

Weakness can bring you to the point that you cannot pray, or you’ve run out of ways to pray, and depression creeps in and causes you to despair and fill you with unbelief, fear and doubt.

The deep hole of depression.

Job, a man mentioned in the Old Testament, greatly suffered the loss of all things, including his health and strength, wealth, and even his children, at the hand of Satan (yet allowed by God), became so weak that all he wanted to do was die so he could be vindicated by God.

But as hopeless as it seemed, he had a spark of faith to cry out …

“THOUGH HE SLAY ME YET WILL I TRUST HIM”…

“WHEN HE HAS TRIED ME, I SHALL COME FORTH AS GOLD.”

In a time of weakness, it is easy to lose perspective of God’s goodness and compassion, faithfulness and mercy, willingness to heal and  the promises He has previously given you.

God hears and answers “your” prayer; he doesn’t re-direct it onto someone else and forsake you for their benefit. No, no, no!

He said to me,

“If you ask for bread… will I give you a stone?” Of course, He wouldn’t.

The Passion translation of Luke chapter 11:11 confirms this: “If a son asks his Father for a serving of fish, will he give him a snake?”

The miracles of Jesus Christ definitely show that He healed “all” who came to Him. The operative word is “came” (not everyone who exists, but those who ‘came‘  to Him were healed).

Jesus said, “IF YOU ASK THE FATHER ANYTHING IN MY NAME, HE WILL GIVE IT TO YOU!…not somebody else!

“CALL UNTO ME AND I WILL  ANSWER “YOU” AND SHOW “YOU” GREAT AND MIGHTY THINGS THAT “YOU” DO NOT KNOW.”

Jer 33:3.

Many times David prayed. “Lord you have heard “my” prayers”

God has heard “your” cry and seen “your” tears and “will heal you.” He healed King Hezekiah and added fifteen more years to his life.

So why do people still die when so many people have prayed in faith believing that they will be raised up to full health and strength again?

I hear this over and over. “She was such a wonderful Christian, but God didn’t want to heal her.”

That is so not true!

I had a very dear friend who was a godly woman and she was diagnosed with cancer, which eventually spread throughout her whole body. She believed that God would heal her and witnessed to saved and unsaved alike that it would be so.

Never to forsake you!

She had great faith that God “would” heal her… Why did she die?  Yes, God is Sovereign… He makes the final choice…He has reasons and purposes to take that dear one home to Heaven.

But she couldn’t say. “I am healed,” according to Isaiah chapter 53:5.

Or, “I was healed”, according to

I Peter 2:24.

She would only say that if she experienced it in her body. She wanted to see before she believed.

This is now my personal opinion and all I ask is that you will consider what I have to say as l believe what I’m about to share is a new revelation from God on how to pray the prayer of faith for a terminally sick person including yourself.

  1. Establish in your mind that God “wants to heal you.” The Leper said to Jesus, “If you are willing, you will heal me.” Read Acts 10:38.

Jesus said,   “Certainly I am willing, I want to heal you. Go your way and show yourself to the priest.” As he went, he was healed.

   2. There is no sickness in Heaven! We pray the Lord’s Prayer… “Your Will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven.” It is His will that you live a wholesome life.

He doesn’t put sickness upon you to develop your Character, or teach you some spiritual truth.

There is no such thing as sickness in Heaven and we can believe that on this earth even if it is not yet so, it “will” be so.

   3. Believe in the “Finished Work of Christ.”  HE SENT HIS WORD (Jesus) AND HE HEALED THEM.

If we believe the written Word, it will be, “Medicine to our soul and Health to all our flesh.”

   4. The Atonement.

When Jesus suffered and died upon that cruel cross, He took upon himself all our infirmities and bore all our sicknesses. His Blood not only cleansed us from sin, but sickness was also included.

Psalm 103:1-5 looks forward to the Cross of Christ and declares that He “has”  forgiven all my INIQUITIES and healed “all” My DISEASES.

BY HIS STRIPES WE “ARE HEALED.” or by the wounds that wounded Him we “are” healed. Isa 53:5.

Not ‘will be healed,” but “ARE” healed.

1 Peter 2:24. “By His stripes you WERE healed.

Oh, dear sufferer, You HAVE ALREADY BEEN HEALED!

Believe it, declare it, shout it from the highest hill. Glorify your Father in Heaven. It’s done!

There is no age limit for your healing.

THE FACT IS …

You feel sick,  the Doctor says, “You will die, there is no cure. And there is nothing that medical science can do for you. Go home and enjoy the life you have left.”

THE TRUTH IS…

YOU “ARE” HEALED!

Christian when you pray for me I employ you,  to stop asking, and analysing as to why I am so sick and in chronic pain and give thanks that I am healed and delivered through the Finished Work of Christ. I don’t have to feel it, see it before I rejoice and believe it.

IT IS FINISHED!!

I see myself as healed, pain-free, walking, leaping and praising God. It’s a done deal.

Nor do I have to settle into sickness and disease by accepting it, and live with it, trying numerous ways to alleviate it.

I now trust in the Finished Work of Christ Jesus my Lord and Saviour.

“ALL THE PROMISES OF GOD IN HIM ARE ‘YES AND AMEN’ TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER.”

He’s a “Yes Jesus” not a “No Jesus” according to His Word.

One time, I was so desperate that I yelled at God; I am ashamed  to say, “If You love me, then You will heal me.”

I repented, as that is so untrue… He loves me with an everlasting love.

Twice, God audibly spoke to me. I sensed that by the tone in his voice, He revealed that I had grieved him. He sadly uttered.

“I ALREADY HAVE HEALED YOU.”

But because I didn’t feel it, I didn’t believe Him. I have since repented of my lack of faith in what Jesus did for me on the cross, and now I trust that He took “all” my sickness upon Himself, and “I am healed,” even if I can’t sense it or medical science does not agree with it.

“IF TWO ON EARTH AGREE TOUCHING ANYTHING IT WILL BE DONE OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN.”

Matthew 18:19.

This is the God type of faith, not hope, but believing before you see.                                 So do not own your disease or label yourself as it is your Lot in life.

Keep this in your mind especially when symptoms appear.

Rebuke them! Refuse them! They are lies from the enemy.

Jesus Christ took it! Paid the price, and God has it!

The Healer is already at work bringing His miraculous healing.

Hey, the Healer lives inside of you.

Stop owning your diagnosis, stop labelling it as…

My Autism or my Cancer or my Fibromyalgia, etc…

I rejoice in the God of my SALVATION. ( Sozo)…. Meaning: Saved, Healed, Delivered, Set free from Satan’s power, and Prospered.

The truth will set you free…

“If” you have the eye to see! The truth is the man of Galilee. Yes the truth will set you free.
Who only has the right and the Power to make it happen.

We have been given great Power and Authority over Satan and his hoards of darkness and we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us.

As you pray in the depths of despair, consider changing how you pray and start giving thanks for your healing instead of pleading for it to happen.

Encourage others to believe with you.

Now give thanks and praise His Glorious Name.

“BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO DO NOT SEE YET BELIEVE!”

Here is a word of advice… Always hear God’s voice for the way that He will manifest His healing. There is no one method to follow, so allow Him to fulfil the promises He has given you.

Don’t compare yourself with another person’s healing experience.

Hear God! His ways are perfect, and beyond your ways. He will fulfil what He has promised. His way!

You do not have to throw away your medication or cancel your doctor’s appointment. Ask Him what you should take, what to eat, and which doctor you should attend.

You must listen to God as He speaks through His Word.

“He who has begun good work in you “will” also perform it.”

Prayer of healing…

“Father, You said that if I ask anything in Jesus’ Name, You will do it. I am sorry for all my doubts and unbelief. Now I know that you want me walking in health and well-being. Thank you, Jesus, that you paid the price by bearing all my infirmities in your body on the cross of Calvary.

I take authority over the Spirit of infirmity in your powerful Name and cast it into utter darkness, never to return.

Today, I receive my healing in your mighty Name.

Thank you that by your stripes … I AM HEALED!!

“If any man is in Christ he is a new person, old things are passed away and look.. All things become New!

Bless you.

You will bloom again.

1. THE BOOK OF PHILIPPIANS.

THE HAPPY EPISTLE!

There are recurrent themes in this book of Philippians.

Christian Joy and rejoicing. 4:18.

Joy in the God of your Salvation.

The gain of knowing Christ.

The examples of godly men, such as Timothy and Epaphras.                       And the example of Paul.

What Christ means to the Believer.

Chapter One. In this first chapter the key thought is,

“For me to live is “Christ” to die is gain.”  Chapter 1:5. Christian, Christ must be your life, nothing more or no one else.

In the second Chapter the main verse is expressed in verse five.

LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU WHICH WAS ALWAYS IN CHRIST.

The whole thought in this chapter is- CHRIST IS YOUR MIND.

In the third chapter there is a strong desire to know Him.

“THAT I MAY KNOW HIM.” Christ is the believer’s goal.

In the fourth chapter the key thought is… the

ENABLING POWER OF CHRIST” See verse 13.

I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO GIVES ME STRENGTH.       Is Jesus your strength?

So we understand that Christ is:

YOUR LIFE.

  YOUR MIND.

YOUR GOAL.

       YOUR STRENGTH.

Is He your strength? Is He your life?

He wants to express Himself in and through you. If He has top priority in your life, His desires will become yours. He enables strength to carry out those desires. He begins the work, and He fulfils it. You will see things from His point of view.

You will feel as He feels. You will have His heart for the lost.

You will have His wisdom to make the right choices. His own motives and desires will become yours.

Pray… “Lord Jesus, magnify your life in mine be it by life or by death.”

ARE YOU WORTHY OF HIS PRESENCE IN YOU?

Paul loved Jesus so much that he had a strong desire and longing to leave this world 🌎 to live forever with Him. Can you say,

“NOT I BUT CHRIST WHO LIVES IN ME.”

HIS MIND.

Christ is your mind, the True Mind in your mind. We are to be like-minded,

HAVING THE SAME MIND, THE SAME LOVE as His, being in accord with Him and one another.

Are you Christ- minded toward others especially those who hurt you?

“LET NOTHING BE DONE THROUGH STRIFE OR VAINGLORY, BUT IN HUMILITY OF MIND COUNTING OTHER PEOPLE BETTER THAN YOURSELF.”

This verse is a cure for fractions in Churches or in the family.

Don’t try to validate yourself even when you know you are right, yet misinterpreted and misunderstood. Have the mind of Christ and love anyway. God knows, and that’s all that really counts. God loves you and has given you His peace and guilelessness. (meaning innocent and sincere, lacking deceit). Be humble and unselfish when facing difficult people.

Jesus Christ is our example.

He being God- humbled Himself verse 8.

This self humbling came in seven steps

1. As God, He gave up His kingly rights.

2. He emptied Himself.

3. He became a willing slave.

4. He came in the likeness of men.

5.  He humbled Himself.

6. He became obedient unto death.

7. Even to the horrific death of the cross.

How unselfish, how miraculous and He did it deliberately.

GOD-MAN-SLAVE-    CRIMINAL!                        God is saying to us, “Have the same mind” Choose to be obedient to the will of God. You are working out your salvation with fear and trembling. And while you are… God is working in you for His good pleasure in Christ.

No matter how hard it is, we are to do this without complaining ( against God ) or disputing (with man).

The lovely Apostle Paul copied Christ with the “loss of all things.”

So he could “Gain Christ.”

Dear Christian when you give up much, you become entirely like Christ. You are not a looser but you gain, apprehend, attain and “know Him.”

Christ Himself is the supreme object of our desire and the true goal of our whole life and being.

MAKE HIM YOUR ALL IN ALL.

1. THE BOOK OF EPHESIANS.

OUR HEAVENLY CALLING.

YOUR WEALTH AND WALK IN JESUS CHRIST.

Although Ephesians is not the longest book of Paul’s Epistles, it is the most profound of them. There is a grandeur conception about it, a majesty and dignity, a richness and fullness that will bless your life.

TWO MAIN PARTS.

Its six chapters fall into two equal parts. The first three chapters end with a climactic doxology. This first half, 1-3, is doctrinal, about the “wealth” that is yours through  Jesus Christ.

The second is practical, about your “walk” as a child of God.  How wealthy you are in Him who is precious.

Paul describes this wealth by saying.

“BLESSED BE THE GOD  AND FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, WHO HAS BLESSED US WITH ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST.”

LIFE IN CHRIST, ABUNDANT AND FREE.

Then in the second part the opening verse reads:

“I, THEREFORE, THE PRISONER OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, ASK YOU TO WALK WORTHY IN THE VOCATION WHERE YOU WERE CALLED.”

So we see clearly that this book of Ephesians is the epistle of our “Wealth and Walk in Christ.

WEALTH.

Chapters 1-3.

We praise God for our excellent spiritual possession. Verses 3-14.

HOW RICH I AM SINCE JESUS CAME MY WAY. HE TOOK ALL MY SIN AND GUILT AWAY.

HOW VERY RICH I AM!

We pray that you will perceive the riches of His Grace towards you.

Verses 15-23.

Then, in chapter two, we see His new condition:

Verses 1-10.

And our new relationship with Christ. Verses 11-22.

Chapter 3. Reveals the Divine mystery of our relationship with Him. Verses 1-12.

Receiving the fullness of the Presence of God. Verses 11-21.

WALK.

Chapters 4-6.

Regarding the Church corporately.  Please make the time to read…

Chapter 4:1-6              Regarding you as a believer individually. Chapter 4:2-17.

Regarding outsiders who live  sensual lives.

Chapter 5:3-21.

Regarding special relationships. Chapter 5:22. Chapter 6:9.

Regarding the fight against the Spiritual powers of darkness. Chapter 6:10-20.

Do you comprehend how wealthy you are in Christ?              These excellent, spiritual, Heavenly, eternal riches are yours, through Grace in our Lord Jesus Christ.  You possess immense treasures that you may not have comprehended as yet.

1. YOU ARE CHOSEN IN HIM.

“Before the foundation of the world to not only to be saved but to live a Holy life without blame before Him in love.” Verse 4.

“FROM SHADES OF NIGHT TO REALMS OF LIGHT, OH PRAISE HIS NAME … HE LIFTED ME.”

You have been chosen out of this world, once and for all, to be God’s own peculiar treasure. He chose you to be “Holy,” without blame before him in love.

WE CAN NOT YET HAVE “FAULTLESS POWERS” BUT WE MAY HAVE …

“BLAMELESS MOTIVES”            IF!                                 WE WALK WITH CHRIST IN LOVE.

THE MORE UNSELFISH WE ARE, THE RICHER WE BECOME.

ADOPTED.

You are adopted in the sense that as an already child of God, He will publicly declare your legal rights as a born-again believer to live out your position as a chosen, adopted child of God with all the rights and privileges of Heaven that have been given to you.  What a promise, what privilege, and what prospect is ours. You are totally blessed.

When someone asks me the question How are you.? Instead of dumping all my illnesses upon them. I reply. “I am blessed.”

It’s the truth!  It’s a statement of faith in my total well-being in Christ. I am truly blessed.

REDEMPTION.

Verses  7,8. He not only fore-chose you as His own before you were born and for-fixed your destiny; He bought you with the price of His Precious Blood. Oh, at what cost to Himself to redeem you, ( buy back) to release you and ransom you from sin’s consequences.

You have been redeemed (set free) from the curse of the law Galatians 3:13.  Redeemed from the death penalty due to your guilt of sin.

THROUGH CHRIST.

His precious 💞  blood  has released you from the bondage of inherited depravity of sin.

We have been bought with a price.

1 Corinthians 6:20. We are His costliest payment. “Through His blood.”💕

REVELATION.

He has made known to us “the mystery of his will” in ages to come (in the fullness of times) beyond the Millennium and the Great White Throne.

To the ages yet to come, Ephesians 2:7. There will be one Throne of God and the Lamb. Rev 23:3. And a sinless glory that will never end.

Can’t wait!!😀

INHERITANCE.

“In Whom (Christ)  also you have obtained an inheritance.            The words                 “IN WHOM” are significant because God planned it before the foundation of the World, so no powers of darkness can overthrow the Divine purpose or rob us of our inheritance!

You are …

“IN CHRIST, and

“HE IS IN YOU.” Nothing will separate you from His Love.

IN HIM WHO IS PRECIOUS 💞

SEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.

“After you had believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.” The inheritance is made sure to God’s elect, and then the elect is sealed and secure for that inheritance. You are “His,” and you are “safe.” Many seals are broken, like Pilate’s, but no one will break this one because you have been sealed by the HOLY SPIRIT!

So, as we look back on these “Spiritual Blessings” which are ours in Christ…Those of…

Election.

Predestination.

Redemption.

Revelation.

Inheritance and the,

Sealing of the Holy Spirit.

We praise the Lord for the breadth, length, and height of Divine Grace. This should drive us to our knees in praise and worship of His Holy Name, The Name above all Names in Heaven and on and under the earth.

Thank you, Jesus!

Amen.

Humble yourself in the sight of God.

And when the time is right, He will exalt you!

2. THE BOOK OF GALATIANS.

A TREASURE-TROVE IN  GALATIONS.

God’s Fruit of the Spirit.

The Epistle, besides being a red flag against legalism, is a treasure trove of up-building truths. Let’s discover some of them.

Paul’s Theme in this EPISTLE was, The True Liberty of the Gospel.

The Liberty of a “Love Service” in place of,

“Law Bondage”

The Liberty of “The Spirit” in place of, Bondage to,

Hi”The Flesh.”

Then Paul at a later stage speaks about, Liberty of,

“The Spirit.”

He used agricultural terms fitting to the culture of the Galations. Such as “bearing”

FRUIT BEARING!

THE VIRTUES OF GOD’S GRACE.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, etc. (Galatians 5:22, 23).

BURDEN BEARING!

Bear you one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”

SEED BEARING!

Whatsoever a man sows,” etc. verse 6:7. “Let us not be weary in well doing, for we will “reap” if we don’t faint.

Whatever you sow, it will reap a full or a lean harvest.

BRAND – BEARING:

The marks “I bear in my body are the Brands ( marks) of the Lord Jesus .

PAUL’S DREADFUL SCARS.

This is an effective way to reach souls for Christ. We should stand on their own ground with them, as far as possible, talking to them in terms which are familiar and appropriate to them.

Jesus was a master of this, as He shared the Word of God in terms that were relevant to the culture of His day.

The lesson for us to take to heart is that we ourselves are to be fruit-bearers, burden-bearers,          seed-bearers and brand bearers for our dear Lord Jesus’ sake.

Experience God’s love.
  1. The first three are LOVE, JOY, and PEACE. These are those that you experience in your own heart. These portray your inner being to the World.
  2. The next three are LONG- SUFFERING ( patient) GENTLENESS, GOODNESS, which are the dispositions you should reveal to others. For example, how you treat “your neighbour.”
  3. The third three- FAITH, MEEKNESS  (humility) and SELF-CONTROL are attitudes that I must obtain to remain Godly, in this sin-sick world. These three have special reference to God.

THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT!

Paul spoke about the graces the Holy Spirit produces in the life of a consecrated believer. He called them the “fruit” of the Holy Spirit. Paul lays them out beautifully. Nine fruits are mentioned. They fall neatly into groups of three each.

So these three trios respectively express the Christian life that concerns yourself, your neighbour, and your Maker.

The first three look, inward,

The next three look, outward.

And the third three look upward.

These trios cover all relationships of life. They tell us that a life under the control of the Holy Spirit is one of fully absorbed beauty. True beauty springs from the heart rather than in outward doings done for appearances sake.

What you are determines the value of what you do! Only the Holy Spirit can produce these qualities in your heart and life. You will never produce them by “play acting” or through “Self Effort.”                        God knows the thoughts and intents of the heart, and so can spirit-filled Christians tell if you are genuine  or not. You will not have many meaningful relationships if you keep faking it …

BE REAL, BE HUMBLE, BE TEACHABLE and allow the Holy Spirit to sanctify and change you from within. Don’t justify yourself by blaming others.

Of course you will make mistakes and fail, admit your weakness and remember it takes time, it’s a growing thing not self effort.

Hand everything over to the Lord, nothing holding back and allow Him to stamp His image upon your ❤️ heart.

But there’s more!! These nine Graces (virtues) are arranged beautifully.

  1. Love, joy, peace. Love comes first, then joy, then peace. The first mention of the three virtues is the foundation of the other two. So love is expressed by joy (love exhausting), and then comes peace, which is love resting (bringing tranquillity and relaxation).

2. The second trio is long-suffering, gentleness and goodness. “Long-suffering” is the foundation and its outworking is “gentleness”, which expresses the passiveness of patience. Then comes “goodness”, which is the active expression of long-suffering.

3. Take the third trio: faith, meekness, self-control. Here again, the first mentioned is the foundation of the other two. So first comes “faith,” then “meekness,” which expresses faith in God. And then comes “self-control,” which is faith expressed in everyday living.

How beautiful these Graces of the Holy Spirit are. You already have all these virtues dwelling inside of you.

But!  YOU MUST EXERCISE THEM TO THE POINT THEY BECOME A NATURAL OCCURRENCE.

Blessings upon you as you draw near to the heart of God.

He that has begun  good work in you…

“WILL PERFORM IT.”

Amen.

1. THE BOOK OF GALATIANS.

THE LAW VERSUS GRACE.

THE LAW vs GRACE.

Fake JUDAISERS had infiltrated Paul’s reasonably new Church in Galatia to persuade them that they must keep the Law to be saved.

Many people were being swayed away from the Gospel of Grace and were embracing once more the bondage of legalism in order to be saved.

If you have time to read this fantastic book, here is an outline you can use.

  1. The attack of the Gospel. Chapter 1:1-16
  2. Law versus Grace. Chapter 2:21
  3. Salvation by faith verses Salvation by Good Works.
  4. Slavery verses Sons and Heirs of God. Chapter 4.
  5. The Sinful Flesh verses the Holy Spirit. Chapter 5.

6  How to live well in a Christian Community

PAUL DEFENDS THE TRUE GOSPEL.

He reassured the  Christians who were troubled and confused by the false teachers who taught them that Salvation only comes by adherence to the Law of Moses: instead of accepting the Grace of the New Covenant.

PAUL’S EXPLANATION.

God had promised Abraham that He would bless him and his descendants after him, including the whole world (us). This was an everlasting Covenant that could not be annulled. Genesis Chapter 15.

GOD’S COVENANT TO ABRAHAM.

THE LAW.

The Law given by God to Moses on Mount Sinai in Exodus was to set apart the Israelites from the World.

Paul reminds the people that faith in Christ does not originate from the promises given to Abraham or the Mosaic Covenant; instead, it extends beyond Israel to us today.

THE MOSAIC COVENANT.

Now, anyone who puts their faith in Christ is a Spiritual child of Abraham. Galations 3:9.

You are not only a child of Abraham but a child of God.                                       We are adopted into God’s family. Galatians 4:5,6.

This is why God sent Jesus. He lived the Law and died for our sins, then rose again victorious over the penalty of the Law of Sin and Death. He was the only One who could fulfil the Law.                                  You see, the Law is the schoolmaster of God that brings us to Christ. It makes it clear that we need a Saviour.

Jesus Christ introduced the New Covenant through His death by shedding His precious blood for our sins on the cross of Calvary.

When He cried, “It is finished”, refers to the Old Covenant being finished and the New Covenant having begun.

Each time we celebrate the Lord’s supper, we are reminded as we take the bread that it is a symbol of His Brocken Body, and as we partake of the wine, we also are reminded it is the Cup of the New Covenant, that is:

His blood is shed for the remission of our sins.

COMMUNION EMBLEMS.

WHAT ABOUT SIN?

After our conversion, we still continue to sin, but we hate sinning against the ‘One’ who freely saved us.

Now, our conscience has been sharpened, and the indwelling Christ is changing us. His Spirit, which works in us, helps us to battle sinful desires.

When we do fall short and sin, we remember that we can come humbly before God and apologise for that failure, knowing that His blood continuously avails for us and we are totally forgiven.

The law is now written upon our hearts. We choose to obey the inner prompting of the Holy Spirit.

There are Churches today that place upon people burdens too heavy to bear, and they never find peace within themselves as guilt and shame tear them apart on the inside.

Unnecessary Burdens!

These dear souls try to please God by performing good works to gain His acceptance, but never measure up to the standards that are placed upon them. No person can ever earn Salvation by Good Works.

“FOR BY GRACE YOU ARE SAVED THROUGH FAITH AND NOT OF YOURSELVES. IT IS THE FREE GIFT OF GOD, NOT OF WORKS LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST.”

Ephesians 2:8,9.

THE AMAZING GRACE OF GOD HAS SET ME FREE.

God wants all men to come to repentance and receive the gift of Salvation.

He made the way very easy so that even a little child can understand and come to Jesus. His arms are open wide to all who will come to Him. The most evil  wicked person is also welcome into His loving arms.

Dear reader, stop striving and stressing to please the Lord. You, yes you are accepted in the beloved. Praise God, it’s all by …

GRACE THROUGH FAITH.

IT’S THE FREE GIFT OF GOD.

Why?

BECAUSE HE HAS “ALWAYS” LOVED YOU.

Are you a church attender and yet do not have a relationship with Him? Then you are just practicing religion and still on your way to Hell.

God doesn’t send you to Hell, He wants you with Him in Heaven.

So let’s pray this prayer of Salvation together and make Him Lord and Saviour of your life.

“Lord God, I am a sinner and I cannot save myself by my own merit. I need You, Jesus, to save me from the penalty of sin. Thank you for dying for me that I might live in eternity with You. Come into my life now, change me and use me in the plan you have chosen for me.”

Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, tell someone, then find a Spirit-filled Church that believes in “Free Grace” and attend regularly.

MARVELLOUS GRACE OF OUR LOVING LORD.

2. THE SECOND BOOK OF CORINTHIANS.

PAUL’S THORN!

Jesus also endured physical and spiritual thorns.

First, let’s read the passage from 2nd Corinthians Chapter 12:1-10.

Paul pleaded with God to remove a very troublesome thorn from his life. What was this thorn?

There are many and various opinions concerning this thorn.

Was it a physical thorn that was causing Paul so much distress?  He does mention that it was… ‘In the flesh.’  Those who believe this interpretation hold to their conviction that because they suffer long-term illness and have not yet received healing, they have learned to live with it because they have decided that their malady is their personal thorn given by God to teach them something or to chastise them to change their behaviour, to make them Holy.

These people suggest that Paul had extremely bad eyesight. Others speculate, Malaria, epilepsy, migraines, speech disability or some other physical ailment.

Now, Paul does mention some of these infirmities. But was it ‘THE THORN’ that is referred to in this passage?

God never puts evil on a person, and sickness is not given by Him because,

‘HE IS THE HEALER!’ “Every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord, and He never changes His mind.” James 1:17.

A PERSON?

Was the thorn a person? For example, Alexander the Coppersmith did Paul a great deal of harm. 2 Timothy 4:14.

But God dealt with him according to His deeds. And Paul knew this.

FALSE TEACHERS.

Other scholars say that the thorn refers to false teachers sent by Satan who had entered the Church and were attempting to lure people away from the truth of the Gospel of Christ. All these afflictions and  many more added together could result in a huge nasty thorn.

But was this the thorn that Paul pleaded with God to remove? Speculation is really a term for guessing!

THE TERM FOR THORN.

In the Greek (Skolops) implies more than a rose thorn that caused mere annoyance: Paul’s thorn generated agony corresponding to what he saw in Heaven. The beauty and glory of the   presence of God in the highest Heaven.

Paul was taken up into the third Heaven.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAUL’S THORN,

God, or Satan?

The thorn, according to Paul himself, was from Satan, a messenger or an evil Angel to harass him.

Though God didn’t directly afflict him, He allowed Satan to torment him to prevent him from being ‘puffed up’ with pride due to his unspeakable experience of the third Heaven.

The third Heaven.

It was a preventative measure so Paul who was an incredibly humble man would not succumb to pride.

So rather than being possessed by a demon within, Paul was attacked from without.

Paul could see some way forward and it was not very satisfying.

The Lord could remove the thorn, and Paul would cope in the ministry, though the ministry would be hindered, and he would continue to be afflicted.

Now God responded by leaving the thorn, but gave Paul  “Grace”.

SUPERNATURAL GRACE!

It is not the “forgiving type of grace” but rather “empowering grace,” a sustainable, calming, supporting, and very satisfying grace.

God’s marvelous Grace.

This is wonderful as God was offering          HIMSELF!  He will make Paul perfect in his human weakness with “HIS DIVINE POWER.”

You and I must admit our weaknesses and draw upon His strength. It is in our weaknesses where God dwells, waiting to empower us to fulfill our calling.

Instead of us wanting to run from hardships, He is in the boat with us. Jesus said, “Without me you can do nothing.”

We all have areas of weakness as did the Apostle.

  1. Human incompatibility.
  2. Insults and mistreatment.
  3. Hardships that take you beyond your limits.
  4. Persecutions, afflictions at the hand of hostile enemies.
  5. Overwhelming and devastating experiences.

No longer Paul needed to decide to live with weaknesses or even delight in them because they opened him up to Heaven’s Blessings of strength and power.

“CONTINUED WEAKNESS IS THE GATEWAY FOR GOD’S STRENGTH.”

Humility, not pride can only draw from God the supernatural Power to make us fruitful in our lives.

Power to be calm.

Power to be joyful in tribulation.

Power to evangelise the lost.

Power to preach the Word of God boldly.

Power to heal the sick.

Maybe, Paul’s thorn was the Ministry itself!  He does mention the “Care of the Churches.”

The Church of God.

Whatever it was, it caused him to come to the end of himself, his own efforts.

We, as Paul, must “Die to Self.

Once we crucify self then we can live by the resurrection power of the Risen Christ. Then we can do ” all things” through Christ who strengthens us.

We can learn from this study how to rightly divide the Word of God. Let’s not argue from silence and keep in mind as we read this Bible quote:

IF THE PLAIN SENSE MAKES SENSE … THEN SEEK NO OTHER SENSE.

Paul told  us that the thorn was a demon, and the purpose of its presence was to prevent him from doing anything in his own strength but to do:

“ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO GIVES HIM STRENGTH.”

You are supercharged with God’s Strength.

Paul definitely fought the good fight of faith; despite all opposition, his relationship with God grew from strength in faith, love and power. He was more than a conqueror through Christ, who loved him so.

We are so blessed!

When life goes into meltdown, when your feet are swept from under you. Don’t throw in the towel but continually draw upon “His Strength.”

Move forward trusting that He loves you, and in Him, you live and move and have your being.

Amen.
