2. THE GOSPEL OF JOHN.

JESUS IS THE WORD.

THIS IS THE MAJOR THEME AND THE KEY VERSE IN THIS WONDERFUL GOSPEL OF JOHN.

You may wonder what is the key verse from this book of John that stands out to you and the world.

What is the theme of this gospel that stands out beyond those written by Matthew, Mark and Luke?

Which verse would you choose?

This is the suggested verse.

BUT AS MANY THAT RECEIVED HIM, TO THEM  HE GAVE THE POWER (or authority) TO BECOME THE SONS OF GOD, EVEN TO THEM WHO BELIEVE  ON HIS NAME.

John chapter 1: 12.

The King of Kings has the ‘Power’ to give  ‘Authority.’

This theme runs throughout the chapters. As we read the following chapters, we see how this is so.

1. His own received Him not.

2. But to the many who did receive Him.

3. He gave them the (dynamic) power to become the Sons of God.

Jesus promises Nathaniel and Simon some powerful things to us.

“You are … you shall be!” “Greater things than these shall you do…….”

This life power operates in you today if you have sincerely received Him. Claim His promises, step out by faith, and do them! Miracles will happen before your eyes; you will be astonished at what God can do through you.

The mighty miracle of feeding the five thousand with the boy’s little lunch will reveal His power to you if you surrender yourself as he did his lunch!

HE TOOK!  “Take me, Lord.”

HE RECEIVED!  “Take me as I am.”

HE BROKE!  “Beak me, Lord”                                                            HE USED!  “Use me Lord.”

BE THE LUNCH!

JESUS’S DIVINITY            and HUMANITY.

Here in this Gospel, we truly see who Jesus was and still  is today.

1. THE WORD.

2. THE LIFE.

3. THE LIGHT.

4. THE SON.

THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD IS JESUS.

The first two declare His relationship with God the Father. The second two declare His relationship with us.

Let’s glean together the meaning of the word “WORD.” i.e.  The expression of God before all creation. Verses 2 and 3. Eternally and individually, He was not from the beginning. He was already in the beginning, as seen in verse 1. He was not only with God, He was God!!

JESUS IS GOD.

“IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD, (Jesus) AND THE WORD WAS GOD.”

John 1:1.

The Word (logos) and God cannot exist without each other.

They are distinguished from each other but inseparable.          “The same was in the beginning with God.”

Simply put, Jesus the Logos is with God. But the Son is in the bosom of the Father. Jesus is ‘not’ a created being. He is the second member of the Trinity. He is both eternal and personal.

In relation to us as human beings He is the “LIFE” and the “LIGHT.”

How “wonderful” He is. Why? In this first chapter alone, there are no fewer than eight titles given Him.

THE WORD,          THE LIFE,  THE LIGHT,

THE LAMB, THE SON,

THE MESSIAH.   THE KING and THE SON OF MAN.

The WORD (Jesus) BECAME FLESH.

THE LIGHT (Jesus) – SHINES IN THE DARKNESS.

THE LIFE – IMPARTING NEW BIRTH.

THE SON – FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH.

There is so much more to share about our Lord Jesus but we conclude by reminding you that you must believe and receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. This is how you are given the gift to ETERNAL LIFE!!

John 3:16,17.

“AS MOSES LIFTED UP THE SERPENT IN THE WILDERNESS, EVEN SO MUST THE SON OF MAN BE LIFTED UP; THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES ON HIM SHALL HAVE (Here and now) ETERNAL LIFE.”

Please invite Him into your life now before He returns, or you will be left behind!

PRAYER OF SALVATION.

“Lord Jesus, I put my trust in You as the ‘Living Word.’ I ask you to cleanse me from my sin and unbelief. Come into my life now and save my soul. I now receive You as my Lord and Saviour.”

Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, let me know so I can encourage you in your new  walk with Christ.
