6. PRAYING… PSALM 61.

IT IS OK TO CRY!

TURN YOUR TEARS INTO JOY! PSL 61:1

“Hear my cry, oh Lord … Attend unto my prayer.”

This Psalm begins with crying and ends with singing. Please open your Bible and read this wonderful psalm.

David commences. “HEAR MY CRY LORD”

Then enthusiastically concludes,

“I WILL SING”

God takes note of all your tears.

NIGHT IS TURNED INTO DAY: SORROW INTO JOY; GLOOM INTO SUNSHINE.

The oil of joy banishes mourning and the garment of praise does away with heaviness. How did this delightful transformation take place? We all need to know the secret of how to turn sorrow into joy. How did David do it?

Before David’s crying turned into joy and singing. He turned to God in prayer. He began, “Hear my cry” He added.

“Do something about my prayer.”

He allowed his tears to fall on the lap of Jehovah.

Sorrows, trials and troubles you should see are, ‘Blessings ‘ that are stepping stones to God’s HEART. Anything that draws you closer to Him is:

HIS GOODNESS IN DISGUISE.

God understands your cry even if you cannot articulate your prayer. Why? Because He Knows you personally and hears your particular cry. He is interested in your heart, more than all the good deeds you do.

Jesus knew the hearts of men. “He heals the broken in heart.”

He knows the sound of your voice and sees your tears. He takes note of those tears and every tear you have wept and places them in His bottle. He knows the reason for those tears 😭 and on that glorious day, the Day of the Lord, He will wipe them dry.

If you’re too distraught to even talk to Him about how you feel, then … Cry! Yes cry and keep crying … until it’s all laid on Him. He weeps with you!

He weeps with you.

Jesus knew what it was like to shed tears.

He wept at the tomb of Lazarus.

He cried over Jerusalem.

He wept in the garden. and I am sure…

He wept on that cruel cross … not for Himself, but for those who brutally put Him there. His were the tears of deep compassion for others.

He cried, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” These were tears of forgiveness.

Maybe you need to forgive that abuser, that liar, the cruel words that have been spoken over you. Forgive the rape, the abortion. Most of all you need to…

Forgive yourself for your own bad choices, that caused you so much pain.

Forgive the rejection and all the hurt you have been holding on to all these years.

Some people also need to forgive God, not that He is to blame for sin against you. He is without sin. Forgiving God is really a way of cleansing yourself from your own bitterness and resentment … forgiving Him for allowing that adverse situation in your life.

Of course, when you forgive God, it gives you the freedom to trust Him once more. God loves you and He never changes. He cannot and will not sin.

Remember that Jesus has already forgiven you! Don’t confess the same sin over and over. He will be saying to you, “Heather, what sin?”

FORGIVE … THEN LET IT GO! Yes, give them all to Jesus. Let go, do it now. Cry! Receive HIS FORGIVENESS.

He as an intercessor, weeps with the Holy Spirit before the Father with groanings unutterable for you and me. That is how much He loves you!

Tears are God’s cleansing agents to set you free.

Do you know that at His return to this earth in great glory, His people, the Jews will weep in repentance, tears of great sorrow for Him whom they pierced?

Today He hears your cry each time you weep for yourselves, your family and the souls of men.

“HE HEARS THE CRY OF HIS SAINTS,”

“HE HAS HEARD YOUR PRAYERS.”

NEVER DOUBT IT. EVERY HEART CRY IS HEARD AND INTERPRETED IN HEAVEN! LET IT ALL OUT!

You may ask,

“Then how can I sing if I am still hurting so bad?” By giving them all to Jesus, wounded hearts, broken dreams, battered lives. Hand over to Him all that anger, bitterness and resentment and unforgiveness.

Lay upon Him all your disappointments, mistakes and failures, your guilt and shame…

Hold nothing back, cry it out as He holds you in His warm embrace.

Let those pent-up tears flow, open the floodgates of your life and surrender yourself into His loving arms.

“CAST ALL YOUR CARES UPON HIM, FOR HE CARES FOR YOU.”

“ARE YOU TIRED AND WEARY, FILLED WITH TROUBLE AND DESPAIR?”

“DOES YOUR BURDEN PRESS YOU, BENEATH ITS WORRY AND IT’S CARE”

“ARE YOU GROWING WEARY IN THE STRUGGLE OF IT ALL?”

“REACH OUT TO JESUS … HE’S REACHING OUT TO YOU.”

“HE IS ALWAYS THERE HEARING EVERY PRAYER, FAITHFUL AND TRUE, WALKING BY YOUR SIDE IN HIS LOVE WE HIDE ALL THE DAY THROUGH.”

“WHEN YOU,

GET DISCOURAGED, JUST REMEMBER WHAT TO DO… REACH OUT TO JESUS. HE’S REACHING OUT TO YOU.”

This is a song I once knew over fifty years ago. It still ministers to me today, may it bless you. I am not sure if it is the word perfect but the message is poignant.

Amen.
