7. Esther’s Final Plea.

ESTHER APPEALS TO THE KING.                                                                               Now the Queen had asked the Jews to fast and pray for her, as she, unsummoned, would present herself before the king. Fasting is a symbolic form of prayer in the Old Testament.

She was throwing herself at the mercy of the King in this matter. On the third day, Esther slowly, cautiously, gracefully once more entered the inner court of the Palace.

Then she paused and stopped at the gate opposite the king’s throne room, then waited for the king to notice her.

The King sat at his throne, gazing down the pillared Vista deep in thought. Then with surprise and somewhat delight, the graceful figure of his beautiful young wife meets his gaze once more.

He immediately extended his golden scepter (a symbol of authority) toward her.

“What is it, my precious Queen, why have you come before me?”

He could sense a need in her lovely eyes. Kindly, he said. “I will give you half of the Kingdom.”

She had obtained his favour and generosity. She breathed a silent sigh of relief and began to relax.

Her final plea was to request that the King reverse Haman’s edict to slaughter her beloved people, the Jews.

The King immediately took action. The edict was cancelled and reversed. Mordecai took Haman’s place and Mordecai now wore Haman’s ring of authority and the King put all the responsibility into his hands.

Are you afraid to come before the King of Kings and make your requests known?

Here is some excellent news! We have a great High Priest who has ascended and passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God. He is our golden sceptre of favour and approval.

He understands your weaknesses, infirmities and temptations. So you can come ‘Boldly’ into the throne of His Grace and receive mercy for your failures and find… Grace to help in times of need.

Read Hebrews,     chapter4:16-18.

Jesus has paid the price for all your sin, guilt, and shame with His Precious Blood, and the way is now ‘open’ for your Salvation and entrance into the VERY PRESENCE OF GOD.

You are so blessed to have such excellent access to the Creator of everything that exists.

The first thing you must do to receive His loving favour is to come humbly before Him and admit you are a sinner and repent of that sin. No one is turned away.

He loves you dearly and has been waiting for you to come in the name of Jesus. He will forgive, cleanse, come into your life and save your soul.

Then He will begin to live His life in and through you. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you to empower you to do His will. He will do it.

Prayer: ” Lord God,  I come to you in the Name of your dear Son Jesus Christ. I am a sinner and I cannot save myself.  Thank you that you shed your blood to cleanse me from all my sin.  I ask You to forgive me and save me from Hell.                                 Please fill me with your Holy Spirit to empower me to live a life pleasing to You.” Amen.

Now back to the wonderful outcome of our story of courageous Esther.

King Ahasuerus reversed the decree against the Jews. It is wonderful how God can change the heart of a wicked King and the Persian fixed law to protect His people.

The King’s heart is in the hand of the Lord. Just as He can change the courses of the rivers of water. He changes the heart of a King, however He pleases.’

Proverbs 21:1.

You see God is the Supreme ruler of mankind and He can do whatever he pleases.  Why?

Because He is SOVEREIGN!

The King’s next decree, now dictated by Mordecai would reach all provinces and was written in every language of the people of the empire including the Jews. It was sealed with the king’s signet ring.

Now the Jews, God-chosen people could defend themselves. So on the 7th of March, (my birthday!) the Jews overpowered their enemies and declared a public holiday when they would celebrate with joy and gladness by giving gifts of food to each other and presents to the poor.

They loved to celebrate by music and dancing.

The joyful dancing of our Jewish brethren.

The Festival of Purim.

Was a set time to commemorate the time when the Jews gained relief from their enemies, when their sorrow was turned into gladness and their mourning into joy!

Amen.

PURE JOY FROM THE LORD.
