RAHAB’S. DELIVERANCE.

JERICHO.
Jericho was a high-walled city in the path that Israel had to journey. This city was impenetrable (meaning it was impossible to pass through or enter).
Yet, Joshua was a mighty warrior of faith, and God had promised him success wherever his foot would tread.
Israel crossed the Red Sea, dry-shod, and they were promised by God that every enemy would fall before them.

Chapter 1:4-9. The wall of Jericho was doubled. Two walls inside the other, connected by intermediate stones, and a strong lattice of timber.
Previous Regents had permitted the building of rooms between the walls. The poorest of people lived there, outcasts and whores.
THE GATE OF JERICHO. Medium-sized towns, like Jericho, had one main gate, made of two massive doors, each made of tough wood reinforced with bronze.
The gates were closed and barred for the night, reopening in the morning.
By immediately shutting the gates after the pursuers departed, the authorities took a sensible precaution. If the spies were still in the city and had not left the house as Rahab had implied, they might be exposed during the night.
RAHAB DECLARES HER FAITH.
1. “The Lord had made a dry path for Israel across the Red Sea, and had parted its waters for them.”
Ex 14:21-28.2. “Israel had defeated Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites and Bashan.” Num 21:2-35.
“These kings were utterly destroyed.
“Rahab declared her faith in the Lord God Jehovah, ‘before’ she experienced her own deliverance. God knew her heart, and despite her immorality, she was chosen to become a part of God’s people.
Immorality in your past doesn’t stop God from saving you and using you in His Eternal purposes. This is a picture of His wonderful Grace.
So, dear reader, no matter what sin you have committed or are still committing, know His forgiveness and step into your foreordained destiny that God has previously planned for you.
God, through Jesus Christ, loves you. He will receive you into His family forever. You need to repent of your sins, believe that He shed His Precious blood on the cross of Calvary to Save and deliver you, and that He rose again from the dead on the third day.
Ask him to save you now!
In Romans chapter 8:1,2,
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. For the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.”
Although the people of Canaan incurred God’s judgment, Rahab’s action of faith in helping the spies, by hiding them on her flat roof, covering them with flax, and letting them down on the outside wall, brought her and her family into the safety of the Israelite camp.

Her request to the spies was also filled with words of faith. She said,
“When” Jericho is taken, not “if” Jericho is taken. Her faith was founded upon the promises of God.
See Hebrews 11:21.3. She continued her declaration by saying,
“I know God has given you all the land. And, “Your terror has fallen upon us.”
In this book of Joshua, the two spies kept their promise to spare her and her family and adopt her as their own.
She continues.“There is no more courage in any man of Jericho.
Because the Lord your God is God in Heaven above and earth beneath.”
God had given Jericho into the hands of Israel, and Rahab knew it, believed in it, and foresaw their defeat.
Have a look ahead at chapter 23:10 and read the last words of Joshua, now ancient and well stricken with age.
He prophesied,
“ONE MAN SHALL CHASE A THOUSAND, FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD WILL FIGHT FOR YOU, AS HE HAS PROMISED YOU.”
That’s what happened at the battle of Jericho.
Rahab was saved from utter destruction, along with her entire family.
The courage of Paul and Silas.

This reminds me of the account in the Book of Acts, where Paul and Silas were thrown into prison after being beaten for the cause of the Gospel.
And how God fought for them by using an earthquake to open the prison doors, loosen their shackles, and set them free.
The jailer wanted to know how to be saved. They answered ..
“BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS AND YOU WILL BE SAVED .. AND YOUR HOUSE” (His family)
AND THEY WERE SAVED, AND REJOICED GREATLY !!
Dear friend, ARE YOU SAVED? You answer, “NO, NOT YET?”
Then you must believe in the Lord Jesus to be saved!
REPENT OF YOUR SIN .. THEN ASK JESUS TO SAVE YOU. NOW CLAIM YOUR WHOLE FAMILY FOR JESUS!!
Pray. “Lord, I am a sinner and repent of my sin. Thank you for dying for me and shedding your blood. Come into my life and be my Lord.”
( Name each person in your family individually and claim them for Jesus.)
Amen.

I love how God has not ‘honey coated’ the events in His Word Heather but lays them out as they happened ‘warts & all’ so to speak.
What an amazing Saviour we have in Jesus!
