5. THE BOOK OF NUMBERS.

ARRESTED PROGRESS.

Would you please continue to read the Book of Numbers, chapters 15-20?

This book could be called..

“The book of Arrested Progress”
These chapters cover an actual period
of thirty-eight years.

This delay period marks the transition from the old generation to the new. It begins after the KADASH REVOLT and ends in the year of Aaron’s death.

It took Israel only forty hours to get out of Egypt, but it took forty years to get Egypt out of Israel!!”

Within two years, the people were at Kardesh-Barnea, the gate of Canaan.

Thirty-eight years later, they were at the same place again! This was a consequence of their disobedience.

They knew what God had commanded. They said hastily,

“All you command we will do.”

They were full of zeal as they had witnessed the great deliverance and were ready to take that step of faith into the land of Promise,

until …. They Saw It!!

It was a very good land, but they saw the giants and the walled cities. They imagined their enemies and feared persecution, scoffing, and isolation. It was a path not yet trodden.
But too difficult to face!

So they decided. “We will not go up.”

Are you at a point in your life where you feel defeated? Have you lost your zeal and are dissatisfied and discontented?

There is an emptiness that the world cannot fulfil? What can you do?

Go back to the place where you disobeyed God!

Confess your sin and take up the life of obedience once more. You may not be able to pick up the pieces and start over again, but Jesus promises a new life, an abundant life.

Joy, power and the peace that progress brings will soon be yours again.

The word “wander, as prophesied by God, is translated literally into the Hebrew “Shall Pasture for forty years.

Coupled with judgment, the Lord would still shepherd them. Here we see the goodness and the severity of God.

That time in the wilderness was a complete holdup of God’s purposes for Israel and a historical gap. These people excommunicated themselves from the heritage of Israel.

This time, the Lord does not plague them to destruction but fulfils their words.

Would we have died in the wilderness?” Numbers 14:2.

They must die, maybe before their time!

Let us be very careful about what we say about ourselves. Do not speak words of death; instead, speak words of life. Best of all, speak…

The Word of Life.”

(The Bible)

Allow me to suggest some life words for you to speak over yourself.

“Through Jesus, I can do this!”

“By His stripes I was healed!”

“He will supply all my needs!”

“I shall live and not die and declare the Works of the Lord!”

“Because the Lord is my Shepherd,
how can I lack any good thing?”

“I love to read my Bible!”

Things will change as you speak life
words over yourself and others.”

Jesus said, “Bless those who curse you, and say all evil against you.”

Blessing others has so much power. Jesus and God back you up, and the Holy Spirit makes it happen.

Become an encourager today!

Amen.
