THE REJECTION OF THE SHEPHERD-KING.
In the following chapters, the true Shepherd-King is despised and rejected by His own people. Chapter ten speaks of the betrayal price of thirty pieces of Silver that Judas received from the Jewish leaders.
The price paid for a foreign slave. (Exodus 21:32). Then he foretells of that money being cast on the floor of the house of Jehovah. Also read Matthew 27:9.
Do you realise that because Jesus loved you, He allowed himself, the “King of Kings” and the “Lord of Lords”, to be sold at such a psaltery price with tragic consequences?
No wonder Jesus wept over Jerusalem as they had become blind to the truth of the Gospel of Salvation.
From that moment on, false Shepherds ruled God’s people and would continue to exploit them till the end of this age.
THE FINAL TRAVAIL AND TRIUMPH OF ZION: JEHOVAH’S VICTORY.
Chapters 12-14.
This passage passes over our age of the Church and opens on the final day when the SHEPHERD-KING Will take up and complete His grand purposes with and for Israel. These next verses apply directly to Israel, Jehovah’s own people.
“I WILL MAKE JERUSALEM AND JUDAH A CUP OF REELING TO ALL THE PEOPLES ROUND ABOUT.” (The final siege against His people.)
“AND ALL PEOPLE WILL BE GATHERED TOGETHER AGAINST IT. “
IN THAT DAY JERUSALEM WILL BE A BURDENSOME STONE. AND ALL THOSE WHO BURDEN THEMSELVES WITH IT SHALL BE IMMENSELY WOUNDED.”
This is the gigantic world drama which is yet to be.
Jerusalem shall be the storm-centre and this will precipitate the second coming of our Lord Jesus to set up the Christ-Empire on the earth.🌎
“AND I WILL POUR UPON THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND ALL THE INHABITANTS OF JERUSALEM THE SPIRIT OF SUPPLICATION: AND THEY SHALL LOOK UNTO “ME.”
The Shepherd King is “GOD” and “JESUS” We know from the gospel of John that this refers to Christ. Yes, it was Jehovah Himself that was “pierced” when Christ Jesus was crucified.
Read Revelation 1:7.
He still weeps for the lost souls of humanity.
DO YOU?
Finally, Zechariah continues to speak to His people. (Zion)
” I WILL GATHER ALL NATIONS AGAINST YOU. THEN JEHOVAH SHALL GO FORTH AND FIGHT AGAINST THOSE NATIONS. AND HIS FEET IN THAT DAY WILL STAND UPON THE MOUNT OF OLIVES, AND IT WILL SPLIT IN HALVES FROM EAST TO WEST BY A HUGE RAVINE, AND HALF SHALL SLIDE TO THE NORTH AND HALF TO THE SOUTH.”
Zechariah becomes elated and makes the prophecy personal.
“AND JEHOVAH, “MY GOD“, SHALL COME AND ALL THE HOLY ONES WITH HIM...AND HE SHALL BE KING OVER ALL THE EARTH.“
Then he foretells what it will be like in that day of His eternal reign.
1. No Curse.
2. Complete Safety.
3. His name written upon all utensils and objects. (On Bells and upon Horses.)
4. And no Trafficker in the House of the Lord. (A person who deals illegally in any kind of trade, such as drugs.)
We end this excellent book being reminded that only a Prophet inspired of God could have written it.
All we can say to confirm it is:
COME SOON LORD JESUS.
Amen.
